I do not understand it, I cannot accept this defeat by any of the permutations we had because this was supposed to be a serious “training session” for want of a better description, one we should not loose. What did we learn from it….we still cannot find shooting boots and our oldest player had the most touches of the ball on the pitch. We learned nothing from this other than we need to do a lot better against Everton, or I can see an embarrasing loss on first home game. I cannot accept “it was a friendly game” they are supposed to be pro players doing some serious work. Time to deliver City in ALL games for 90 minutes

Agree Cityboy54 looks a lot like last season, lots of chances missed and still ropy at the back I can’t see Pep changing although I do think we shall do well in the Champions League. I hate to say this but I think Mourinho might get United to win the league.

I should have added that I hope I’m wrong about United.

No such thing as a friendly in a game of football at this level….should play to win always

It was very much a training match with little intensity. My only and real concern is that without Aguero/Silva/KDB we never look like scoring. Pep knows this hence Sanchez

Adlab, with respect…you cannot go into any match on the basis I will play less than 100%…this is also what causes injuries. If he had played the EDS team I would have expected a result, he played players who are challenging for a first team place.
I am not saying we are going to win every match but we have to go out to win it. Scoreing goals will be the key this season, so we had better start practising

Guys, this was an ambassadorial match to cement ties with Girona midst a warm weather training session – I would be surprised if any of our players sprinted.

One game in and Utd have won the league and our manager isn’t good enough?! Come on!

I thought there were positives, but it left me more worried than positive!
Good things: Maffeo was really good and should impress this season in Spain, hopefully joining our senior squad next season. Mangala played well and IF Pep kept him for a year, it’d save us a lot of cash for other areas. Adarabioyo had 90 mins and was good in the second half in particular. Bravo played his best game for us.
Worries: we looked utterly lightweight and easily bullied in our opponents’ half. We need some height and muscle to convert more of the crosses Pep’s tactics manufacture from our wide players. Sane is a liability as a wing-back, and Maffeo was much better than Danilo – we should have kept him and been brave enough to use him this season. Diaz was anonymous against medium-low grade opposition. Patrick Roberts has been given no real chance by Pep pre-season, and that’s frustrating.

It’s a friendly yes but whenever you pull on that jersey you should want to win. I said I wasn’t convinced after the Brighton game and this got me more concerned. There is only one excuse if we don’t win silverware this season and that’s that Guardiola over complicated things. There is noway that squad isn’t good enough to win the league. Under Pellegrini at least I knew what was going on and the players he picked made sense. For Guardiola’s whole tenure so far I’ve been confused as to what he’s trying to implement. I’m yet to believe the magic. You need to pick your best set of players and stick with it.
