Well if we do stay up then someone at the club needs to Buy Giroud a case of Champagne. Chelsea were down , out and disinterested yesterday until he came on. We very nearly, and it would have been deservedley, threw again 3 points again yesterday. Why on earth did Hodgson pick Ward at right back intead of Bisakka ( doesn’t bode well for the future of our youngsters does it !!!) The man showed a lack of fitness and pace, which gave them the second goal . The team was drained of all energy in the second half and if Murray had converted that golden late chance we would have been staring down the barrel of relegation. We now need to beat Watford next week . Yesterday showed again that without Zaha we are not not a premiership side. The man is too good for us and will surely go this summer, then what will we do??

Agree about Ward but perhaps he thought that an older head would be better on the day. Ward did save a goal late on not quite sure what is happening with our defence, somehow not so organised. Why bring Benteke on when there were others? Going back I thought our young right back should have been on. I have said all along we are safe and have said 5 matches 5 wins.Oh and Zaha will not go.

I think Roy put Ward on for 2 reasons, mainly because Brighton are a bunch of big lads and perhaps thought we needed our tallest back line to deal with them. Ward looked OK going forward but he really looked out of sorts and was certainly at fault for Brighton’s second goal. I think our defence has become a bit leaky of late, nerves perhaps, also I don’t think we have had the same lines up for a lot of the season and the chopping and changing through injury doesn’t help.

On Benteke.. whilst he is looking like a donkey this season, I also think this… When we play one up front, we are one dimensional in attack and we become easier to manage for defenders… Though I think Sorloth and Wickham would be harder working than Benteke, I think Benteke would fit a team higher up the league because he wouldn’t need to work hard for the ball or opportunity, whereas we need that fight.. Giroud looked good, but my Gooner loving brother said he’s not consistent… and the way he was talking, he’s as frustrating but more clinical than Benteke.

I am not convinced about having any more target men brought it, we have two, we need different resources.. we need more wingers for options, I also think Cabaye needs to go, I think his legs have gone, might suit a slower top division. I think we need some speed merchant nippy strikers to add to how we play and to give us more than the large lump up front tactic… As soon as we put Benteke on yesterday we were easy pickings for Brighton’s defence and that’s not just Benteke’s fault, that is the fault of us playing a system that is far too easy to mark
