It was a throw back to our early Pulis days in the PL. Burnley at set pieces wanted to engage in grappling and we obliged. Also lots of off the ball intimidation/fouls/mouthing off. Barnes assault on BMI sadly not seen by Mike Dean as play was elsewhere and Jack Corks dying acts tripping himself up were to the fore. Though Burnley did play well their best ever performance against Stoke in recent times in second half.
Stoke started very brightly and Badou carrying the team forward on wave after wave of attack but we could not keep the energy levels up and when Diouf missed the golden chance that dreaded feeling was their at half time. Burnley on top after the break though both teams went close and Butland made a few saves for the cameras. A draw was fair but as usual you have to question Lambert’s choice to start Crouch and Johnson then fit square pegs in round holes.
