I’m really struggling to see why Jack Grealish is getting so much hype. We’ve seen a glimmer of quality but it’s few and far between and 1 goal in 27 appearances is not a great return. Yes he’s a young lad with plenty of time to learn but as usual in football he’s been put on a big wage too soon and the lifestyle has become more important/interesting than the football. I feel Garde has done the correct thing dropping him back to U21’s, too be honest another loan spell to the Championship wouldn’t do him any harm as he needs game time without the pressure of the media glare never mind fan expectation . We need a bit of grit and steel on the pitch especially in midfield and sadly Jack goes missing far to regularly. I really want him to be a success but has he become something we’re all clinging to in a desperate hope he will be our saviour?

Back on TT since website change!!

I for one agree and have since I saw him against Leicester in the cup last season as he broke onto the scheme properly. He reminds me a little of the Lee Hendries headless chicken act – very busy but often contributed little but good in occasional sparks. I really think Garde pulling him up sharp will do him good and hopefully knuckle down.

That said he’s not alone in not producing what’s expected. Yes a new team needs time but unfortunately time is one thing that is running out!

All hands to the pump gents if we are to get out of this and that applies to all; not just Grealish

Good post and fully agree. No doubting Grealish has talent but he also still has a lot to learn. His end product is missing, whether that’s his final ball or finishing, he’s guilty of giving the ball away cheaply at times too, all features of a young player learning his trade. It’s a classic case of too much too soon in terms of the hype he received in the press and the tug of war between ROI and England for his services only added fuel to this, he’s barely featured in the Premiership and needs time to adapt and play consistently. Players of his age should be on a smaller incentive/performance based contract and undertake jobs around the training ground such as cleaning the toilets, cleaning senior pro’s boots and the changing rooms (like the old YTS days). Some of these young players are spoilt rotten and lack a bit of reality. On the other hand he’s played in a side which has consistently changed it’s personnel, shape and style (and manager) since he broke into the first team squad, he needs to nail down a position in a settled team that plays to his strengths, because he is a talent. But he needs to learn to be a top pro and cut the off the field nonsense out and cut his hair too!

everyone is saying grealish has talent .

there is more to it than that – he is a future star .

he can ghost his way past several players in a flash .

when we had delph and cleverley he had someone to play with – now there is no one , he is way above anyone else .

unless he has agbonlahor like affinity for the club , he will be snapped up next year at a bargain price .

its not clear what the party issue was , playing about AFTER a game shouldnt be an issue, but he must have broken some rules .

i hope the club handles him well.
