“Or did you create this thread to only talk about him when he is injured or suspended?”

Do you not think that this is what I was referring to? You can’t even be honest about this.

threeps, you’re right but I’ve just had it with this guy. He’s subverted the entire point of this thread. You couldn’t be critical of Henderson without this clown coming down on you and even when you’re not, he’s having a go! It’s ridiculous.

My opinion on Henderson is that he’s a decent CM and that’s the height of it. If anyone thinks differently, that’s fine but if anyone has an argument to prove that he’s a top midfielder, I’ve yet to see it on this thread.

The hope was that Fabinho and Keita would sort out the average midfield we have but in all honesty yet, they haven’t done so but they may do in time.

For anyone arguing that he’s a shit CM, you’re wrong but for anyone saying he’s a top CM, you’re also wrong. They’re just pieces of the jigsaw that Klopp has to put right.

Henderson will not be a major part of the CM in the next 18 months if we buy well, nor will he be captain as that will go to VVD. Just an opinion of course, but it’s likely to be right!

it’s the definition that’s debatable. Anyone playing CM for one of the biggest clubs in the world and also at international level, surely could be defined as a top midfielder? Never really understand why there are so many threads on him, the Hendo watch is Pure cringe

Bofa : It’s all about opinions but I scratch my head when our midfield is qualified as average or even crap as some posters labelled it when we conceded three goals against Watford last season, same team which should have scored 4 goals in the firs half at the Bridge a few weeks later. If our weak midfield helped us get to a final last year and open a significant gap over the midfield which boasts world class players like Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic then I’m more than satisfied with it.

If Henderson scores as many goals as he has threads on here come Tuesday night you may find kinder words for him. I think that’s the difficulty many supporters have. Gerrard stepped up with goals when needed, as did Lampard for Chelsea. That’s what supporters want to see from Hendo now & especially this season. Ynwa

If fans are expecting Henderson to step up and score goals like Gerrard or Lampard then I suggest they really don’t understand his role. He does suffer from following Gerrard’s captaincy, think many expect Stevie G mkII. To me the midfield is about the sum of its parts not just individual brilliance.

Henderson, as a defensive/holding midfielder, will not score many if any goals.
That is simply not his job in the team.
It’s astounding that so many people don’t understand this.

Gini-watch thread coming out soon… very much like Henderson does a good solid tidy job but somehow escapes the pages of TT forums

Who exactly is looking for Hendo to score more goals? Nobody.

BB, the same people defending Henderson to the extreme are the ones who have only come around to appreciating Wijnaldum recently.

I’m not one to trawl back but there’s plenty of rubbish talk about Wijnaldum here. Deny it if you must, I am not going to go back to prove you wrong.

Really? It was the reason supporters were on Lucas case when he played for us & it’s the reason they’re on Henderson’s now. Ynwa ☺

In football, as it is in most other aspects of life, it is harder to create than it is to destroy. Let us not pretend that Hendo has been changed from a rampaging-goal scoring midfielder to a holding midfielder. This crap about how he is just following Klopps orders, kinda implies that Klopp is restricting him from doing something. He isn’t. As I’ve said multiple times, Hendo has been forced to play further and further back as he’s been ineffective in more-forward positions.
It’s as though he’s now been given the least creative role in midfield just so that he can do it adequately. And he probably just about does that. Let’s keep it real guys…Peace

I was a staunch defender of Lucas’s, so it isn’t just a case that some people didn’t like him and are moving on to other targets. That said, I don’t think Lucas would have been good enough to help us to the title this season, as a starter. Like Henderson, he’d have been a good squad player, were he to be here now in his prime. I think only the trio of Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso would do.

The bar has been raised by Klopp, our ambitions and also by our rivals.
