Can you give the specifics of how you arrived at the rating of 4.5 for Henderson?
Would make the thread more interesting.November 29, 2018 at 10:46 am #1702362Can’t believe we are in general consensus over Hendo’s rating. Well done.
November 29, 2018 at 12:03 pm #1702415The rating score is by nature a subjective rating and as such is meaningless and just reflects the position of the contributors on this site which is already well documented. However, I’m still waiting to see any evidence of him performing in a cowardly manner, jumping out of tackles and playing with his hair which are things that can be more objectively reported.
November 29, 2018 at 3:56 pm #1702496JC, what are you suggesting?
RH, My guess is that when Davinci said those things, it was more of a response to the policing etc. As in, comments made to get a reaction and it seems they did just that.
Since I’m under scrutiny (for whatever reason) for giving a 4.5/10. Do you have a rating to give JC? Also the others. What say you naysayers.
November 29, 2018 at 5:48 pm #1702537Just suggesting a critique of the performance to go along with the rating.
I posted mine yesterday at 23:55
November 29, 2018 at 7:35 pm #1702556I don’t remember much specifically now. The raw rating will have to do, or leave all questions unanswered from here until the end of time.
December 6, 2018 at 11:38 am #1704995no grading? I thought this thread was made for rating Jordan?
December 6, 2018 at 12:17 pm #1705026You’ve posted to complain about the lack of grades and not left one yourself?
I’ll give him a 6/10.
December 6, 2018 at 12:32 pm #1705040Good performance against Burnley away, anchored midfield well, nobody has gone past him all game (going over instead) he got on the ball frequently and was taking up good positions when not on the ball.
Played a great incisive pass to Keita who was unlucky not to score.
Apart from that, nothing flashy about his performance, but he did the job he’s been put there to do. Contributed to what was a great comeback, and important 3 points.
He’s taken care of the dirty work, freeing up Milner, Keita and Shaq to get forward. Good performance, but not spectacular.
7/10.December 7, 2018 at 12:42 pm #1705377I didn’t get to see the whole game so it would be unfair for me to grade him on this game. Based on JC and Mr Mak, I’ll give him a provisional 6.5.
Hendo-Watch so far, 5/10, 4/10, 5/10. 6.5/10…Peace
December 9, 2018 at 11:36 pm #1706044Not really much time to judge him on. Did nothing special and didn’t cause any problems either. 5.5 is fair.
So far 5/10, 4/10, 5/10, 6.5/10, 5.5/10….Peace
December 10, 2018 at 8:37 am #1706090😂🤣😅
December 10, 2018 at 8:49 am #1706096This is so pointless. The fact is that if all our squad is fit and in form he doesn’t make the first team.
December 10, 2018 at 2:24 pm #1706280And since when is this a Fact.
December 11, 2018 at 8:09 am #1706462Well it’s official, Henderson’s two most vocal detractors (Mak and Davinci) aren’t willing to justify their ratings and base them on football.
“Was only on the pitch for 10 minutes” isn’t a valid footballing reason.
Then different people rate differently. For me, 5 is “we’ve got guys in the academy who could do better”, 6 is “par” and 7 is “good”.
Whereas for Davinci 5 might be “Wasn’t on the pitch long”.The ratings on this thread are a write off, but we could at least talk about football and Henderson’s actual performances.
December 11, 2018 at 10:48 pm #1706772JC, if 5 means academy level to you, that’s down to you. For me 5/6 are mid-way, so an average rating.
I don’t think it’s really that fair to mark someone on 10 mins of performance as a sub. But for consistency I’m happy to give him a fair mark.
Trying to ridicule the thread because it gives a game by game rating that is recorded for future reference, is typical. I think you know that it’s going to reveal an average player.
As for todays performance; again, he did nothing special and didn’t make any mistakes. Another average performance. I’ll say 6 out of 10.
Hendo-Watch so far: 5/10, 4/10. 5/10, 6.5/10, 5.5/10, 6/10….Peace
December 11, 2018 at 11:15 pm #1706778A steady 7 for Henderson tonight in anyone’s book. This debate is pointless if you plan to trim ratings to suit your agenda. If people can’t see Hendersons value that’s fine, they just have a different take on the game. Henderson displays above average range of passing for a player in his position. He goes about the unglamourous job he is being asked to do in a reliable and energetic manner. Is it sexy. No. Will school kids dream of being the next Henderson, no. Will he be replaced with a player of better ability in this position in the coming years, probably. Will he be replaced as club captain by VVD within the next 2yrs, probably. Does he deserve far more respect for his contribution in a Liverpool shirt than some fickle fans afford him….most definitely.
December 11, 2018 at 11:33 pm #1706779Were we watching the same game Davinci?
I thought Henderson was the glue that’s held our defence together tonight. He was covering for TAA, Robertson, and even in centerback covering for Matip who was picking up some of TAAs defensive duties at times. You might not appreciate his performance but I’m sure our keeper and back 4 did. I only saw him caught out of position once, when VVD has had to make a list ditch tackle and got booked. But to be fair to him, it was a quick attack which came out of nowhere. I thought it was a great performance.
I lost count of the number of times he’s intercepted the ball, and he’s won the ball in advanced areas 3 times, each time nearly resulting in a goal.
Tactically I thought it was a textbook holding midfielders performance, and despite pressure from Fabinho who’s been good in recent games, Henderson has shown why he’s ahead in the pecking order tonight. Very good performance. 7.5 for me.
You rate players based on whether they make a mistake or do something special. Fair enough but come the end of the season your ratings are not going to show anything more than your shallow posts, which speak nothing about his performances whatsoever. “did alright” “nothing special” you’re not really exposing Henderson here, you’re exposing your own bias, and lack of ability to analyse the game.
Proud of Henderson and proud of the way the whole team defended tonight. The defence has won us the game, and knocked out a very strong Napoli side.
December 11, 2018 at 11:52 pm #1706780JC, if it was a ‘textbook’ performance, why is 6 out of 10 biased in a negative way?
I’m rating him as I see him and I’m deliberately not being unfair because I don’t think I need to be. I said I see him as an average player and his performances, since the start of this thread, are bearing that out.He will have poor games and he will have good games. But generally, I expect him to have mainly average performances. If he had been giving scintillating performances since this thread started, you wouldn’t be complaining. But I think you can already see the writing on the wall, so you are trying to derail the thread.
As confident as I am that the ratings will continue to be around average, you should be equally confident that Hendo will step up his performances to be regularly good/very good. Surely a top quality player should be rating at least 7/10 on a regular basis…Stand by your man and back him to the end. Don’t give up now :)…Peace
December 12, 2018 at 12:12 am #1706781I’m also confident YOUR ratings will average out at 5-6.
Because the guy would need to score goals or do something special to “catch your eye”. I think you’re a ball watcher, with a very simplistic view of the game.
Which is probably why you don’t talk about his performances. But keep the ratings coming, it’s good for a laugh at least.
