The idea that Man Utd would turn their noses up at José after having Ferguson in charge for 26 years is laughable. They are like despicable twins.

Paxman, I didn’t say anything I gave you a direct quote from SAF and had you read it properly you would have seen that SAF also said ” there was a good process they know what they are doing the Glazers and David Gill”.

Well admittedly the first part was directly from Torres’ book, and yes we all know that he and Mourinho definitely did not get on, but that doesnt necessarily mean the whole book is nonsense does it? If it was then Mourinho wouldnt have been so angry about the book coming out, or about Casillas and co leaking stories out of the dressing room (which is where most of the things in the book come from). He is far from the only person to have said these things about Mourinho.
And on the second part it most certainly isnt just from Torres that we hear of Bobby Charltons dislike for Mourinho, and theres no way anybody could get the job without the full backing of the board. As Sir Bobby is one of the longest standing members of the board, he clearly didnt have the backing of the board did he.
To be fair though I havent seen the interview you mention with SAF where he discusses this but it sounds interesting, any idea where i could find it? Good luck for the Lierpool game btw.
Oh and Johnny Utah, the only thing thats laughable on here is the thought that you might ever post about Leeds.

Chris , “Secrets of Success” it’s a one hour documentary about SAF def worth a watch straight from the horses mouth where he highlights the Glazers and David Gill as the movers and shakers in the process of appointing the new Manager and not a mention of Bobby Charlton. It’s available on BBC i player.

Cheers, ill give that a watch tonight i think! How do you think you’ll fare tomorrow? I hope im wrong but i think it will be a very cagey affair, if you believe the papers huge stakes are riding on this match so i think priority for both managers will be to ensure they dont lose first and foremost. Of course an early goal either way could change that dramatically.

Nonsense Chris. Look at my history. Plenty of posts about Leeds. Ferguson was a horrible character. No need to be so touchy about it.

    Chris, pleasure mate.

On tomorrow’s game both sides are struggling to score and shipping silly goals like you I think it will be a cagey affair personally I don’t think it will decide Mourinho’s future whichever way it goes.

Chelsea need Costa starting and being capable of playing at full speed for Chelsea to have a chance of taking all 3 points and Benteke will be a challenge for our back four because we have shipped some silly goals to crosses.

If I was a betting man I would put my money on a 1-1 draw. Cheers 999

Johnny Utah… Just did, i can admit when wrong, you have been posting about Leeds, pretty sure you didnt do it that often on the old layout though! N i can understand people thinking SAF isnt a particularly savoury character, but as far as i’m aware he never crossed a football pitch in the middle of a melee specifically to poke an opposing manager in the eye while hiding behind his players, throw a little laugh and smirk back while running away, and then describe said manager as a ‘little penis’ with an childish smirk on his face when asked about it in the post match interview. That is despicable!
On a different and completely unrelated note though, i bought my house from that great lady in your profile photo 30 years ago!

Chris, there is no defence for some of what Jose has done but SAF isn’t that far behind with some of his exploits either. Both are compulsive winners who have often taken things too far at times!

999, you’re totally right, SAF had his moments too (Magnier affair springs to mind) that definitely didnt reflect well on the club.. i guess its a case of he’s an a*shole but he’s our a*shole!! On the game, i dont think it’ll be the end of his tenure either with a defeat, thats just paper talk, but he cant afford another outburst if another decision goes against him! Be very interesting if Benteke does start (is he fit?) though i think they may struggle to carve out too many openings if he doesnt feature and Coutinho is still playing as badly as he has been. Even with the current run of results, i do think a Chelsea win is much more likely than 3 points for Liverpool.
Johnny, haha i guess thats where he got his combative style from then! Although he did manage to keep his socks rolled up more than she did.

I guess it all comes back to the original title thread. Is Jose’s action and words designed to manipulate and deflect attention? Or is Jose just an emotionally charged manager who acts in the heat of the moment, and the ramification of his actions and words are totally beyond his control – this busting the myth ‘everything Jose does is for a reason’.

I personally think, the idea that Jose is a master manipulator is dead and buried. As dead and buried as the idea of a flat earth.

Simply put, he is an emotionally charged manager who cannot control himself an his own emotions and actions, let alone influence those around him for specific effect.

Another defeat, at least Jose cared to show up after the match. Not as cocky as he used to be, not interested to attract any spotlight, not surprising really but at least he didn’t make a fool of himself again. No more mind games I suppose?

Considering their poor form nevertheless, I expected Chelsea to earn a point or even three. How I was proven wrong, Liverpool were so effective, maybe their best performance of the season so far?

After the match, it was good to see Klopp showing some sympathy for Jose, how humbling it must be for him. Roman must be furious, even more knowing that it may cost them at least £13 million to sack Jose for the second time. Surely it’s peanuts considering how much he has spent on players signings over the years.

Arsenal FC , amazing a 3 nil loss to Sheffield Wednesday and you disappear and a 3 nil win over Swansea and as if by magic up you pop again. Where will you be on Wednesday night I wonder?

nine, and you think I give a damn about the League Cup? Really? Don’t pretend like you give a damn about it too because I noticed you have nothing to say about Chelsea’s exit as well. I have been there when we’re not having the best of times, defended our club’s policy and understanding our limitations over the years, not it’s not like me to disappear, but I wonder where your fellow fans are at the moment.

No Arsenal fan minded the loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

The League Cup is something to take seriously, and get wound up over in the semi-finals. But before that if you get knocked out, it barely matters.
