According to Jonathan Greening and elsewhere Tony Mowbray’s contract expires next month and he hasn’t been offered a new one. JG says that WBA should dump SB and get TM in charge. It would certainly improve my state of mind if we did and I’d bet there are a few others who think the same!

Blackburn fans seem to be quite divided on Mowbray. Hard to know if he would do much better than Bruce although i must admit it would be a far more attractive watch and I think a preferable choice as he could probably unite the squad.
However it looks like Bruce will be in charge at the start of next season and if he is unable to make radical changes then next season will be as difficult as this one and he probably won’t last too long. It all hangs on investment in the squad.

Mowbray’s teams were certainly attractive. And he would have kept us up if the club had offered Kevin Philips the two-year contract he wanted. Kev went to Blues and we went into the Premiership without an experienced striker. Now we’re nowhere near the Premiership either in fact or in leavel. And the final two games of the season against two of the weakest teams in the League are not being used to make changes because of Bruce’s desire to finish in the top ten. Of what use is that? Ashworth – who only came on by accident – is part of the club’s future. As is TBH. As might Taylor and Castro and a few others be. As surely is the centre-back pairing of Ajayi and O’Shea. Adam Reach, I venture to say, isn’t part of the club’s future unless it’s a third tier future. Yet he seems to be Steve’s undroppable one. The club’s future is being sacrificed to feed Bruce’s ego.
