Ever since the Cup Final the press have been telling us that Abameyang will sign a new contract. If that’s true why hasn’t he? Are his agents still courting offers from elsewhere?

I dont think we have offered him a new one. I think its connected to any outgoing players that has to be moved on. Also rumours state that we have a clause where we can extend it for another year. Maybe there is a verbal agreement of some kind who knows.

So from what Arteta has had to say today it looks as if he’s waiting for better offers and will stay at Arsenal as a last resort. And we still haven’t shifted any of the dross.

Muffler this is what Arteta said. “We have had some really good talks with him and his agent and I am pretty confident we will find an agreement soon. That’s my feeling,” Which is what he’s been saying for a month. It’s obvious he’s waiting for other offers

Well we have not sold anyone in a month or bought anyone that would change what we saw last year. So of course nothing has really changed so why should Auba do that?

Its probably Aubas last big deal so its no surprise really if we as a club show zero ambition why should anyone of his stature sign a new deal?

From what i have seen so far if I were in his shoes i would wait.

I dont know if he has other offers but he is under contract so he is not really allowed to speak to other clubs. I doubt we would allow it either. Im sure the picture is clear for both parties and if its like everybody assumes that he wants to know what we bring in and out and we dont then we all know the answer to whether he signs or not.

No point in trying to guess the reasons as we dont even know if we offerered something, whether an extension clause exists, what Aubas thoughts about our ambition is.

I want him to starr of course but I would understand if he wants to leave given the low ambition shown so far as we dont have a central midfield worth the name yet. So lets wait and see.

And on top of the never ending Abameyang saga Arteta doesn’t sound 100% confident regarding Gabriel Magalhaes. It also seems he’s willing to accommodate Guendouzi back into the fold. Two weeks to the start of the season, Charity Shield tomorrow, and we have done nothing of note, not one dross player dumped. We are just getting further behind ambitious clubs like Leicester, Wolves and even the likes of Everton. We are light years behind Liverpool. Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd.
