    On current form, Pogba is the best midfielder in the world. Since Ole has come in, Pogba has had 13 goal involvements. Messi has had 9, Ronaldo 7 and Hazard 5. Next Ballon D’or winner for sure if he keeps this up.

    Argument between Scholes, Lamps and Gerrard. Pogba can do what all 3 of those players specialties. If we had Carrick playing instead of Matic. This team could be orgasmic to watch.

    He is the best central midfielder in the world, ability wise. We’ve built the team around him, which is helping his stats, but he in unique with his physicality, technique, passing range and goal threat. The last 3 seasons, when Pogba’s played well, we’ve played well. When he’s out the team we look an average side.

    He’s been this way since the youth teams, dominant over anyone he plays against. Even against PSG where they surrounded him and tried to take him out of the game he was still beating players and creating things in the first half.

    If we put quality players around him, we’ll win trophies.

    No he is not, ability wise i don’t think he is as good as those 3 and to make matters worse those 3 are warriors and do things when going gets tough. He is not even the best in the League can name 4 that are better.

    Ronaldo and Messi are coming to the end of their careers and aren’t really midfielders anymore. They have free roles to find space, and are supported by numbers behind when they attack. They are without doubt the best in a generation, if not ever.

    Hazard is a brilliant player, exciting to watch and creates things on his own. In form, there is a good argument for him. When he finally goes to Real Madrid we’ll see the best of him again.

    Although he doesn’t have the all round ability of Pogba. Pogba is currently having a greater impact on the team when he plays, leading assists and goals across every team in Europe, that’s off the back of playing all summer, putting the world cup on his mantelpiece and setting off back out the house to training.

    In central midfield where he operates, there’s nobody of his ability.

    @mike2005 – Great post. I couldn’t agree with you more. Pogba can pass, he can long-pass, he can dribble, he can shoot, he can control, he can head, he can tackle, he can sprint, he can push, he can score, he can assist and whatever you can think of. None of the best central midfielders in the world can do as many things as Paul Pogba can. Paul Pogba is on 14 goals and 10 assists this season and he is a CM.

    @steveosnakeeyeno, not even close

    Name one CM better than Pogba.

    I don’t think anyone has ever doubted his skill set. Sourness and a few other ex scousers aside. The problem has been his consistency, why isn’t he dominating every single game he plays in? In fairness he’s stepped up a lot in the last couple of months and has been louded as one of the best around. He has been. But I don’t forget his jogging around the pitch, losing the ball and not caring under Jose. Especially when you watch his pass to Rashford against Chelsea and the sprint he puts in to get into the box and score the header. That’s the speed at which he should always be moving around the football pitch.

    When he starts putting in this level of performance month after month, season after season – then we can call him the best in the world. My fear with him, though, is he’s only a season or 2 away from needing a new challenge!

    To be fair, under Jose it was hard for our midfielders and strikers to get into the box from their own 6 yard box.

    There is no doubting the offensive side to his game. Problem is to be considered a top central midfielder he needs to also to the defensive side of the game. Against Chelsea was one of the first times he’s done that properly. He got back into position quickly, he supported Shaw and aggressively pressed their right back.
    If he keeps improving like this he has the potential to be the very best in the world in his position

    ‘Macguffin’ – Carrick was a much better player than you make out. He was another strangled by the systems of Moyes, van Gaal and Mourhino. However we all have different views on players. Pogba was on my list for immediate selling, along with Martial, but I am inclined to forgive in view in the huge improvement in form. Were their poor performances deliberate? If not then they do not deserve ‘Best Player’ accolades and if they were I would strike them off a ‘Potential Legends’ list.
