Numbers are getting less? I know its the summer break but has been this way for a while. When was the last time we had a new member? The main page on match day use to be really busy.

May 20, 2019 at 9:01 pm #1753419This site catastrophically haemorrhaged the majority of its best posters as soon as it changed its format. It’s never ever recovered!
Since then it’s been nothing but a dwindling incestuous crock of waffle between about 4 or five Premiership clubs. Nothing more! It became a futile effort for all the many other club supporters to even bother to post on here when they knew they would no longer have any chance of a response on their own club page.
The only page worth posting on here for the past 2 years for those of us who don’t support a “top club” but still occasionally bother to look in from time to time, just for the fun of it is the Non-Football page. It is (or at least was) the only page on here worth the effort of writing a response. Unfortunately, even the very best posters on there have either voluntary jumped ship or have sadly been banned.
Apart from the Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool pages, there is precious little else.
I therefore have to conclude that this site is on the skids. The ever dwindling number of posts suggests that the future is murder.
The only question left is when to drag out the carcass.
Lenny.May 20, 2019 at 9:52 pm #1753426What was the old format like? Was it better?

May 21, 2019 at 1:41 pm #1753608This site has gone backwards because a lot of posters (at least on the United page – not sure about the others) prefer insulting one another and talking about crap rather than talk about football, which has pushed many people off of here.
Another thing that was much better back in the day was the fact that admins were much more active in discussions and it added a certain spark to have a convo with them; now it’s rare to even see an admin give a reply on an issue, let alone actually spend some time having a football discussion.
Finally, the fact that the main news page has become all about click-bait hasn’t helped to attract people to see other areas of the page, which is a shame.
Think the admins and page owners need to have a sit down and see what they want to achieve from this page – if they just want people to come in and click on their articles and don’t care too much for the forum then they should leave it as is… but if they want to build the community up then they should create more social threads and events (such as a TeamTalk Score Predictor league like we did on the United page, or some sort of competitions where they give rewards to the winners).
Cheers
May 21, 2019 at 2:05 pm #1753616footy debate is the place to be lads, real old school chat and manners even though its run by an old Man U fan from here 😉
top lads though and good discussions (no club pages as yet thoguh as numbers too small)
highly recomended for real football posters
May 21, 2019 at 2:33 pm #1753629Sorry you guys feel like that, and there’s plenty of valid points you make.
We can’t sadly magic up new users and would encourage you to point people towards these pages direction if you think it’s something they’d be interested in.
Anyone who has been banned – and that’s a) no more than a handful over the years and b) at the request of numerous users – has only been for the good of the rest of you and your enjoyment at using these pages.
Given more time we’d love to get involved more in the forums; sadly market forces means we don’t time or the resources to do so.
FWIT, I still think those of you still around do a brilliant job in making the forums what they are and, when time does allow, I do enjoy checking in and reading your views. Your opinions, posts and contributions are all hugely appreciated!
Cheers. -Marshy
May 21, 2019 at 3:45 pm #1753648Shuuuush Buffy… the first rule of footy debate is there is no footy debate…
We’re still wondering who let you in!! 🙂
May 21, 2019 at 6:23 pm #1753680Well said James it would be good to see those complaining the most being a bit more active on the various football forums.
May 22, 2019 at 2:29 am #1753733Since Christmas I been posting on the site below, is fantastic. Use to be like this site use to be, but busier. It is more modernized and has something for everyone. Premier League, club forums, movies, news, other sports and politics. Has the full works,
What I really like is the sections for other leagues around the world, 90% of the people are from Britain but you have people from around Europe and USA, so they know about players from leagues from around the world, is also ex-pats on there to, and not many idiots. Is worth a browse.
May 22, 2019 at 10:48 am #1753806That will help the site mufc!
May 22, 2019 at 11:20 am #1753825Mufc – I just checked out the site you posted,it seems a rather new forum. However,i checked out the Arsenal page there and the last post was a month ago.
I’ve been posting on this forum probably since it was founded. And although there were a lot more posters back then. And there was always a bit of name calling etc,so I’m not sure that’s the reason people have left.In TT’s defense,If you think of it this format is not all that bad.I mean wouldn’t you want different threads for different topics rather than put all in one.But then again you have to make sure they don’t overlap each other, and people have a tendency to do that.
I still remember in the Arsenal forum back then ,there use to be a poster called barber and a few other good ones who I use to go to the lengths of debate with.Proper, valid points and no namecalling, insults. Then all of a sudden the good people left.Since it co-incided with the format change I can only put it down to that. It’s a shame, this use to be a very lively forum but now it’s so inactive.Every single page has lost users.I wonder what the real reason is,maybe the good posters that left can explain that, but it’s for the eds to figure out.I hope it goes back to the way it use to be.May 22, 2019 at 1:14 pm #1753861With the exception of Leeds, the Championship was excluded in the revamp so unless you support one of the top 6 premiership teams or Leeds then this site carries little interest these days.
May 22, 2019 at 4:15 pm #1753924NOLU. It’s not even the top 6 clubs who are significantly represented on here anymore.
It’s only Liverpool, Man Utd, and to a far lesser extent, Chelsea.
Arsenal have been haemorrhaging posters for ages, and Spurs posters have more or less left the building. There’s precious little else left.So is this site at a crossroads? The statistical evidence overwhelmingly shows that it’s gone well beyond that.
It’s a shame.
Len.May 22, 2019 at 5:04 pm #1753930Bring back rob Walton!
That chap was quality
May 22, 2019 at 7:27 pm #1753966Sean, I have no idea who Rob Walton was but I can sympathise with your loss. I miss a lot of the old posters too. The most unforgivable thing that Teamtalk did when they pulled the plug on the old site was to not tell anybody that it was going to happen. It just disappeared for a few months and suddenly metamorphosed into the void that it is now.
No explanations as to what or why it happened, let alone offering a tangible opportunity to the loyal posters to discuss the merits of the sudden change. It inevitably succeeded to profoundly piss off all the best posters from the start and the vast majority of them jumped ship and never came back.
Sail on sailor,
Len.May 24, 2019 at 9:01 am #1754244A feature that should be added is to br able to view the forum in terms of last updated threads.
So no matter where the thread sits you can view where the newest and active threads.
For all we know theres a decent discussion going on in some of the club pages that others would post on if they knew they even existed.
I know people might say they really only want their own supporters on some threads but lets be honest the forum is all but dead. And if you really want it to be only your own supporters posting then put that in the thread title. E.g. 2020/21 Title Chances **LFC Fans Only***. Moderators can then remove posts as appropriate.
May 24, 2019 at 9:07 am #1754248the business and by proxy the Eds have no interest in the forum part, there has been no investment no changes no Ed contributions, in fact lets be honest its got worse with the hyperlinks dissapearing and not a word on it even tough several post have been sent asking….if this wasnt here already they wouldnt be introducing it, its moved away from an inclusive forum and is now click bait…its a shame but it needs the owners to invest and they wont and no doubt the eds are to busy doing what the owner wants
its a bit like many of our teams, without money being spent, a clear plan and desire to move this forward and make improvements it will only continue to die….
damn shame, doesnt make sense to me, they number of posters they had under the old format from all leagues would surely ave helped with the click bait and other things the owners care about?
May 24, 2019 at 6:31 pm #1754429All who are posting on here presumably want to post on here otherwise they wouldn’t be posting.
Talking the site down won’t help the site and will only add to the problems get involved, post more regularly visit the Club sites and encourage others to join the site.
