Used to be great site when it was in the old format. The over and back banter, being able to comment on news stories with your account etc. Go back to that format and the numbers will mushroom back up.

Too many sub forums. Having forums with zero posts and posters doesn’t do much for fostering a sense of community. Consolidate them, amalagamate them. Might actually draw in poster from clubs with no posters. Real pity how much damage the last revamp did to the forums. Maybe the main site is making more money than ever though. *shrug*

Where have some posters gone? Not been on myself lately for a few reasons here and there, but people need to get posting. This site just feels like a ghost town now.

The best way to address this is not by talking the site down and re visiting what led to the problems which were unavoidable and caused by a change in ownership but to post more regularly on the General site and encourage others to join the site and others to come on more regularly from the Club sites.

Lucky, in regards to the other site, I am already a member there. Love what Chris has done with the site and it has a lot of decent discussions involving decent souls and I will be going back on there when I have a bit more time.

There is a shortage of United fans on there, so when it comes to talking United with fellow United fans nowadays and there is a fair bit to talk about, with the exception of Chris, I wouldn’t have anyone to converse with.

I was on there for a while, but too many issues on there for me. Loads of silly videos every other post and posters who just wanted an argument. Stay away from posting about Chelsea if you want to get the most out of it, CM.

TT is still by far the best. Just needs a bit more life in the general forum. Too many trolls and silly arguments put people off I would guess.

CM, This site better for club chat whether you’re chelsea fan or utd, but for general footie discussions with fans of other clubs the other site’s seems far more active.

Alfie, I only registered a few days ago, so without discounting your own personal experience, I just want to say I do not recognise your description of the site from what I have seen last few days at least.

That’s fair enough LD, I found it too cliquey for my liking. Far too much silliness for me – too many ‘Utd conspiracies’ and I was harassed for trying to discuss Chelsea. Though I guess you will toe the forum line on acceptable Chelsea comments being a Chelsea fan so you won’t get that!

Chris has certainly done well over there.

To be honest, this football forum is now down on its knees and gone to the dogs. Only four teams in the entire English professional football league are represented on here and even they are haemorrhaging posters.
The old site, regardless of its pitfalls was at least all inclusive and far better than this sorry sad state of affairs.
To the vast majority of professional and amateur football supporters out there, this site is to all intense and purposes a non-runner. Apart from the non-football page, it’s dead!
Teamtalk seriously need to revamp. Either that, or pull the plug.
    Lenny.

Agree with what you’re saying Lenny, but imo it wasn’t the revamp that caused this. Posters just move on, although some didn’t join when the revamp happened, the numbers were still high. Some moved on because of petty arguements and trolling as 1 of the reason, some just probably got bored, you could say this format made it more noticeable in regards to trolling and petty arguments, but it was still around on the old format.People stopped posting on the old format too, again it just became more noticeable on the new format.

The Manchester United website forum has closed because people stopped posting. They found out people have moved on to social media and United themselves are now using that platform in order for fans to connect.

Here is an article which explains why teamtalk has turned in to the forum it has. Some will blame the mods, developers or editors, but end of the day, this is not the only forum that has suffered over the years. It is just the way it is. People move on. There are some active forums still with loyal posters, but I cannot see them surviving within the next 10 years. Not many of the younger generation join forums and that is one of the reason why forums have declined over the years. Like I said previously, it is shame as I have enjoyed numerous discussions over the years with many great posters, some who still post and some who don’t.

“Either that, or pull the plug.” I know you enjoy this subject Lenny but that’s a tad drastic considering there are three very active Club sites.

I don’t “enjoy this subject” at all Nine, but the fact that there are effectively only 3 active clubs left on this forum says it all!
The old site despite its faults was far more inclusive and a lot more diverse, interesting and entertaining. This forum has now shrank to an incestuous few hard core posters but it’s still haemorrhaging…
Hat’s off to you for maintaining the will and energy to still post in the tonnage that you do every day Nine. I sincerely that hope your gargantuan efforts will help turn things around, I really do, but like CM, I have my doubts…
    Lenny.

With respect Lenny you’re not saying anything you haven’t said before other than suggesting that perhaps Teamtalk should pull the plug.

I have no knowledge of the inner workings of Teamtalks or their plans regarding the forums but there’s been no indication of them wanting to do that.

I post mainly on the Chelsea site but I have tried to post a bit more regularly on the General site to try and help increase the activity on the site.

Personally I don’t agree with talking the site down it is where it is for a variety of reasons the main one imo being the posters lost during the change of ownership when the site disappeared.

It’s up to the posters on here to try and make it a better site and to increase the traffic and perhaps help generate new posters I don’t think talking it down will help with that.

“It’s up to the posters on here to try and make it a better site and to increase the traffic” ??
When Teamtalk pulled the plug and took the previous site down they neglected to inform the posters from the many well represented clubs who posted regularly for years that they were going to do so. That was a disaster and showed no respect at all to the numerous posters.
It succeeded in pissing the vast majority of them off and when they finally saw what Teamtalk replaced it with they disappeared in their droves overnight.
You inferred that there are only 3 clubs still active on here and I can’t help but agree with you Nine. Feel free to enjoy your banter with the ‘big three’, but wouldn’t it be nicer with a more all-inclusive club format?
It’s up to Teamtalk to ‘pull the plug’ again and replace it with a format that will attract and significantly increase posters on here from all the other clubs out there. Surely that’s their job!
If they don’t do something drastic soon, this site is only going to continue haemorrhaging posters…
    Lenny.

Lenny, there was a change of ownership and legal issues that caused the problems in moving from the original site to the new site and the lost posters.

I can’t see how anyone can believe that there is any value in pulling the plug on the current site or that there is that much wrong with the current format not withstanding there’s always room for improvements.

You’ve been banging this drum for a long time now and imo your negativity is completely unhelpful to the site.

If you’ve got some positive ideas on how to develop the site further then e mail them to the Editor I’m sure he would be pleased to receive and consider them.

More posters posting regularly on football issues would be a good step in the right direction you yourself haven’t put up a football related post on what is a football site in the whole of 2019.

If anything this is an improvement on the original format simply because you don’t have to wait hours on end for the post to be accepted and then responses. You can hold a conversation on here. How is that not a major step in the right direction.

My only gripe is the lack of response to issues raised. If that were done efficiently then I really don’t know what beef people have.

Google ads every second post on the desktop version and redirection ads on the mobile has done it for me and this site.
