Massively under rated in terms of his passing.

Totally agree with the thesis of the thread.

This particular season however, I’ve actually wanted more of Hendo to show us what he can do in terms of his leadership.

If you think about it, within his own role, the Captaincy is a step up and that means, he’s got to look at the bigger picture on the pitch aside his own game which of course is taking the responsibility in making sure the tactics and guidelines laid out in the dressing room translate onto the pitch.

Not easy and some people need more time that others to earn the respect of your team mates and for them to be able to listen to you on the pitch.

A player I would keep hold of in spite in agreement with the first post of thread.

I think it’s important not to confuse Captain with best player. Too many teams over the years select their best player as captain rather than the player who has the right mentality.

Henderson has shown a first class attitude since being given the arm band and the only thing I can think of that makes me think he may not be suitable is when he allowed Balotelli to take a penalty ahead of him. He should have shown more back bone in that situation, and it probably wouldn’t have stuck in my mind the way it has, had he taken it and missed.

When you look at the current LFC squad though, he is clearly the stand out choice for captain, and if he can get fully fit, and impose himself in games like we know he can, there is no reason why he can’t be LFC skipper for years to come.

With respect I’m Not sure I agree totally with you…Captain should have have good communication skills and tactical awareness. I rarely see Henderson taking charge of matters and organising the team when things are going wrong. Sahko Lucas and even Can sometimes seem better than Henderson with regard to this. Yes he seems like a very nice person but I think he lacks a little in that regard!

    Jordan Henderson 2014/15 Season

    Goals: 6
    Assists: 9

    Phillipe Coutinho 2014/15 Season

    Goals: 5
    Assists: 5

And lets not act like Henderson isn’t suffering from an incurable heel injury. He can’t even play without pain right now

You’re right redwing. He’s in big trouble and the problem is incurable. The best thing they can do is try and manage it and the associated pain.

If he’s not right why play him? He’d done nothing of mote this season or last.
Agree with you YNWA, Badger Behemoth and N8 – Allen is having a good spell sa are a number of BR non-favourites!
Hendo’s best position is at RB of RWB but a good midfielder he is not as he is never subtle or creative and why we often struggle to score as service ix poor when Hendo plays.

    Ability-wise I think he’s trying for a box-to-box role, but I do feel he’s toughened up.

Henderson is really growing on me, I’m sure he will start delivering in double digits soon enough, both in assists and goals.

Henderson is our best midfielder, Coutinho does not come close to him, way too inconsistent for that. The captain also gives us more over the season, then I’m not just talking about goals and assists cause there are very few midfielders in the league that have as much energy as Jordan.

We’re a better team with Henderson in the line-up of the current squad and the stats bear that out. However, we have played 23 games and he has missed 13 of them. One of the issues he’s going to have to deal with is that the heel problem he has and will have for the foreseeable future means that he’s most likely pick up several other injuries as well. When you’re managing pain/discomfort on one part of your body, other areas will be affected and you’re likely to pick up different injuries. I can see Henderson getting worse as time progresses unfortunately.

you got a point there but I dare say its doubtful he will crumble down like Sturridge. Henderson got a completely different mentality from him, he is someone that puts his body on the line, plays through pain.
There will be a specialist in the summer, thats take a peek at his heel.

” puts his body on the line, plays through pain” – he’s another average player we got like milner/lallana – high work rate, pressing off the ball – running 10 kms but nothing more – if we want to grab the 1-2 spot, I’m not sure it will be with these players. The same logic applies to Sakho – he loves the club/the fans -sorry but if u really love the club as u claim, do up your game or be honest put in a transfer request

There’s clearly divided views, and it’s fair to say, he’s developed a little better in terms of being a more vocal and stronger character.

His game in itself as a player however leaves question-marks.

Joe Allen merits more regular starts for me and if that’s at the expense of JH, then so be it – give the armband to Milner or Kalo Toure.

The only way Klopp is going to be successful as Liverpool manager is if he is ruthless. Henderson is not a great player, he is captain only by default. In fact I’d go as far as saying that when klopp gets his own playets, Henderson might be reduced to 2ND choice… I’m not trying to bash Henderson unfairly, he’s a good player, but if we want Liverpool to get to the next level we’re going to need next level players all over the pitch…Unfortunately Rogers didn’t really have a clue of how to build a team and blagged it, pulled the wool over some people’s eyes and then got sacked…Who do I think is better than Henderson? Ramsey, Kante, Willian, even Dele Ali…I might sound harsh, I’ll support Henderson all the way as every Liverpool player but realistically I don’t think he’s up to standard that we hope for.

Jordan is an average player & the problem we have is that we have too many average players in midfield. I would agree that he would deserve a place in the team for his work rate, add to this his assists & goals, but as it is we have so many of his ilk in the team, Can who is not moving on,Coutinho too inconsistent, Firmino, Milner, Allen, Lallana etc.,

Henderson is a quality player and you can see the difference he makes on the pitch when fully fit.

however i think there are huge concerns at the moment with Henderson’s foot condition which the club are assessing at the moment.

i don’t want to be a scaremonger but mummers around anfield is that he has a debilitating chronic ankle problem similar to Dean Ashtons which ended his career prematurely.

Henderson has had his moments but at present they are too few and not too recent ! Yes we probably missed out in 2014 due to his recklessness but he was certainly valuable within that team.

Yet another inept performance from this so called ‘captain’ As long as players of this caliber are playing for LFC the longer we will rot in mid table.

    Absolutely fuming this morning.
