    Something I completely lost thought of;

Rodgers wanted him out, but obviously with him not around, Enrique’s on our books and I wonder whether Klopp will decide to give him a go.

I’ve always preferred him since Kenny signed him as our first choice left-back.

I think Moreno is great bombing forwards but a real liability in defence ( as was Can on Sunday).

I’d have thought Klopp would seriously want to address this unless Flanno is close to returning.

Gomez played a few there before teams started to suss him out and he then got injured.

WE potentially have Clyne (who’s great), Flanno and Gomez as natural RBs and even hendo is good at wing back.

On the left we have Moreno and … …perhaps Enrique. Youngsters? Where did Smith go ? Did I see he went back to Aus or did I imagine that – he’s not on the official squad list on official website.

So where is he ( Enrique) and what’s he doing since Klopp came in? Does anyone know – including klopp ?

Moreno is a good defender albeit a bit naive, I think he will get better but he bombs on too much, Klopp should pull him to one side and work on when he should get back.

I’ve got little sympathy with the club over buying Moreno. Yes, he can improve but while he’s improving he’s costing us points and money. Is he ever going to be that great even if he improves? If a player hasn’t got it now when will he? The whole point about buying players, even young ones, is that you are looking for that inherent quality that doesn’t so much need coaching as it does polishing. We shouldn’t be having to coach him such fundamentals. The same applies to Mignolet. The club/scouts always seem to get giddy over aspects of a players game only for the weaknesses/concerns to come back and bite us. If a full back has defensive issues he ain’t a full back, no matter how great other attributes may be. And if a keeper can’t command, he ain’t a good keeper.

Both Moreno and Can have made mistakes that have led to goals but both have scored and been a major part of our attacking play too. As they learn, they earn us points, sometimes they lose us some. I would much rather have someone who’s really looking to impress with a crowd lifting burst forward or a robust tackle than someone who’s only half invested in the game.

Does Enrinque still have his profession listed as “Footballer” on Linkdin? Scandalous.

Can does have to learn when to play the ball and when to clear though. . but Klopp has more information on him as a result of this and can set his staff towards coaching that aspect of his game.

I hear you Mr Mak, and I certainly have no issue with Moreno’s attitude. But because of that, he does seem to have a slap dash approach to his defending, and while he’s aggressive at times & goes for the tackle, it’s no good if goes ball watching at other times. There are also many times when going for the block he just jumps up and turns his back to the opponent. It just epitomises his demeanor for me. Likeable, but costly.

True. I mean I’d make a guess that we brought in Moreno to have that burst to support/create chances going forward but he was found out a lot last season defensively and I think that was a factor in why Rodgers went back to 3 at the back as the left centre back was often covering for Moreno and allowing him to be a bit more of a winger. I bet he’d make a really decent winger if we ever needed that from him but until then, he does have to learn how to defend better. . but overall, I’m quite happy with him and I’d be hopeful in time that his game will round off a lot better.

In the more immediate future, we need to sort that attack out and get more goals, which it does look like Klopp will manage (barring more injuries up there). . then we don;t have to have the best defence in the league to hope for a CL place.

I know where people are coming from but I think Moreno will become better at defending and don’t agree that everything is inherent, people can be coached in the art of defending and become better at it. Prime example being Lucas who was not primarily a holding mid when he came and certainly not a good defensive player, but now he has improved massively in that area.

Anyway as said I don’t think Moreno is a poor defender, he is good in the tackle, stronger than he looks, pace to burn, if anything he is a little too rash and bombs on too much. Klopp should get him to look a Clyne for that balance, that being said he has been caught out of position on occasions also and it is one of the risks with playing such a high pressing game.

Whilst he has made mistakes he has looked good defensively in some games also. Same with Can. People are mentioning him and rightly so but others make mistakes also and have been for a while (martin s) but you learn from them and hopefully come back a better player. I think Moreno can still be a modern day full back, but time will tell.

Rash Moreno is one of our main culprits over the past couple if seasons. Good teams are built on a strong defence.

Redrob, we have had many culprits in terms of defending over the last ‘couple of seasons’ I would suggest that Moreno isn’t the only one …

It looks like Jose Enrique might be given a fresh start by Klopp to get back into the first team. I must say before his injury lay off, he might not be consistent going forward but his defending couldn’t be worst than Moreno.

Brad Smith is, according to some reports, a free agent after refusing a new contract. As for Enrique, good to see Klopp bringing him back to main squad. I remember him combing well with Coutinho in BR’s first season.

For me, Moreno is an important cog in this Liverpool team, if only to provide some width. Clyne and Moreno are the only wide players in the first choice team, and if Benteke is in the team, we need wide men. Moreno’s mistakes do worry me…everyone he makes seem to lead to a goal, but I’m hoping he’ll learn.

Enrique…well, seeing as we’re paying him, we might as well use him as cover, but I doubt it’ll ever be more than that unless Moreno gets injured. He’ll be on relatively big money, and I’m assuming his contract runs out this summer – free agent, goodbye, Jose!

Brad Smith, 21, recently signed a new contract with us.
    He’s a left back.
I don’t see any future for Enrique.

I’m with hightown on Moreno, we have no width in the team without him & Clyne & I think Klopp can improve his defending duties. IMO he is very important to us.

Sure Moreno provides width and pace down the left flank – but surely his place is as wing back or LM and not in a back 4 where he can be a liability at crucial times!

I must be watching different matches to some of you on here as since Klopps Arrival Moreno has been a revelation and one of the most improved players. i cant even believe that people are questioning his ability either, this is a Kid who at the age of 19/20 was named in the UEFFA EL Team of the year and have Barcelona sniffing round him to replace their aging left back when he retires. the only reason he looked poor last season was down to BR and BR only.

as for Can judging him on one mistake is ridiculous this is a guy who is regaining his momentum playing in a familiar position that he has not played for over 15 months thanks to the wonderful genius that is BR… just think what we will be like with Can Lucas and Henderson as the Midfield 3 under Klopp….

No one is saying that Moreno is a poor player but doubts still remain about his defending. Hopefully his defending will become better.

I still want to see desperately, Enrique on one side and Flanagan on the other with Skrtel and Lovren. As a unit, that could seriously concede fewer goals and keep more clean sheets.
