Started so i’ll finish… Another two bite the dust… https://www.whoscored.com/News/5aj9ucg-u0srdkgmwa6rmw/Show/Sunderland-confirm-signings-of-United-youngsters
August 11, 2016 at 7:01 pm #1159044Alright we get it. Mourinho hates youth and sacrifices babies to Donald Trump in his free time. You could have posted on the many other threads about it.
Let’s also ignore that Manchester United releases on average, about 10 youngsters every season, even SAF did it (shock and awe). Let’s also ignore that McNair and Love are average and rubbish respectively.
Season hasn’t kicked off and I’m already jaded by this subject. Can we think laterally fellas?
August 11, 2016 at 7:17 pm #1159062Jose must be fuming that Fuso-Mensah has signed a new deal.
August 11, 2016 at 7:25 pm #1159080But at least Conte is giving the Chelsea youngsters a chance this season.
Obviously not at Chelsea, but I’m sure they like playing in the Dutch league!
August 11, 2016 at 7:42 pm #1159101hatters-D.Trump eats babies?.Lol
August 11, 2016 at 7:47 pm #1159113@redblood. I don’t think he eats them mate. I imagined Trump would be standing in a candle lit dungeon; draped in some sort of hooded attire, holding a staff while his minions eat the babies.
Actually Mourinho. Mourinho is eating the babies. Hahahaha
August 11, 2016 at 8:04 pm #1159155hatters, you’re right mate no matter who the club and who the Manager it’s very difficult for the top clubs with the ambitions of chasing trophies and qualifying regularly for the CL to bring through their own now as regular first team players and the majority will fall by the wayside, even though they may move on and forge a worthwhile football career elsewhere.
We await the PL squads but I’m hopeful that there will be a number of Academy players who have been at Chelsea since the age of 8 or 9 included and it’s always nice to see those ones coming through but establishing themselves as first team regulars is still a big ask. Cheers 999
August 11, 2016 at 8:19 pm #1159176Speaking of Donald Trump.Is Alex the red any relation ? 🙂
Plus he speaks equal amounts of bullshit.August 11, 2016 at 8:48 pm #1159209@Aguerooooo. You dare call alex_the_red out from his lair?? Good luck mate. Hahahahaha!
August 11, 2016 at 9:13 pm #1159242Hahahahaha Hatters. I suspect he’s annoying the neighbours ?
Or in his bedroom wasplicking ? 🙂August 12, 2016 at 7:41 am #1159392Hatters & Alfie, There is truth in what the ABUs are saying. I heard Mourinho is implementing some ground rules in our scouting policy. None of our scout should look for young/youth upcoming players. He has also ordered Woodward to ban the word youth/young and kid. Oh wait! no wonder he is trying to sell Young as well.
August 12, 2016 at 7:56 am #1159416Red4life – the proof is in the pudding. McNair and Love have left. But you won’t hear any Utd crying over it because they weren’t up to much – Love especially. They went to Sunderland, not Real Madrid.
But umpteen players have left Liverpool – no thread. City have brought players to take the place of the only young player they’ve brought through (and that is stretching it a bit given he signed about two years ago) – no thread. Chelsea loaned out Kenedy and signed Kante which reduces RLC’s chances – no thread.
Fuso-Mensah signs new long term deal and is promoted to the first team squad properly (moved changing rooms), along with a couple more youngsters – no thread.
The truth is that no one club is different to others, yet sanctimonious Chelsea fans will now pontificate as if Mourinho is worse than everyone else. The double standards when judging Utd has gone to new levels.
August 12, 2016 at 9:24 am #1159656Alfie – not followed this too much so apologies if already dealt with.
Do you think it’s really double standards when viewing United or just the double standards of Chelsea fans. I think it’s the latter.
We’ve seen three or four posters twist and turn to make out that Jose was a master, and now he is at a rival they are happy to be more objective and possibly go too far in the other direction?I always struggle with the complaint that people view united with double standards as I not think they do – I hope we don’t return to the pathetic ‘you’re just an ABU’ response to anything remotely critical of United or Jose.
August 12, 2016 at 9:52 am #1159749Whoisbeni, well said. failure of Chelsea not promoting youth development not only down to Mourinho. I dare to say the Chelsea legends and Roman should have criticise Mourinho but it didn’t happened. If it did took place, it may not be publically done and there is no immense pressure on Mourinho’s shoulder to promote homegrown players. Why bring it up now when no one had the balls to question him when he was the manager of Chelsea football club. I’m glad that Sir Bobby, Saf and all our legendary players always set the expectation that homegrown players is in our DNA and Mourinho have no choice but to keep an eye on that one. Otherwise the first 2 person to pop up and criticise will Keano and Scholes?
August 12, 2016 at 9:57 am #1159770Releasing youngsters who don’t cut the mustard is nothing new at Utd. We release 5 or 6 every season. I’ve no problem with the sale of Love however given that McNair is only 21 and is a full international I would rather have him in my squad than Phil Jones right now.
August 12, 2016 at 10:00 am #1159788WIB – Chelsea fans certainly have done an about-turn on Mourinho.
But non-Chelsea fans dig him out for things they let other managers get away with too.
Mourinho is an easy target – and he has brought a lot of that on himself, but people should still be able to judge him objectively.
There were a couple of Liverpool fans on this thread saying that Klopp is merely getting rid of the deadwood, whilst having a pop at Mourinho. But McNair and Love are also deadwood. McNair got subbed before half time once! I can’t remember the last time that happened.
People can’t stand Mourinho, and I get that, but it shouldn’t mean he is the anti-Christ of young players for selling Donald Love. Who must be 5th choice RB.
August 12, 2016 at 10:01 am #1159791Alfie, you are right. Pogba who most of us regretted for leaving us and we managed to buy back for huge fee was critisized and undermined. There was no uproar on SAF from other clubs for letting him go but we all did because knowing what he can give the team. When I heard Pogba is back I was happy to know once upon a time our academy player is back and I don’t care how much we spent because he knows deep inside our philosophy on the pitch. That’s what matters
August 12, 2016 at 10:01 am #1159794Every club releases youngsters. United letting a bunch go is a rather pointless discussion. Many players go to lower leagues and prove themselves to come back. Just because a youngster is at a top club, doesn’t mean they’re up to the standard required. It’s all about the catchment area.
August 12, 2016 at 10:16 am #1159854Hatters & Agueroooo-Hahahahahaha.
August 12, 2016 at 10:21 am #1159890All Managers and all top clubs struggle with bringing through young Academy players to regular first team players now and Mourinho is really no different to any other top club Manager with this.
He is understandably perhaps though more in the spotlight because he is a serial winner and that’s his focus and his tenure at a club has never gone more than 3 seasons plus United have an enviable record of bringing through their own.
