Ginger, you beat me to it. Guess I was right. Let the new dynasty begin (unless Karius has a few shockers).

Big call from Klopp, but he clearly knows what he wants and it’s these kind of decisions that managers earn their bucks from.

So Klopp has said two games before intnl break / does he mean it’s a trial period for Karius?

Hmmm -that’s right – just two games then after break it’s United – I guess that might tell us who Mo 1 is !!!

    That´s interesting…

I got to admit that I was not that impressed with Karius in the pre-season, I only caught two with him but what I saw in his last game was pretty good.

He seemed more commanding than Mignolet and his distribution was better, way better… He looks a decent prospect and very keen on impressing everyone around him.

Looks like Mignolet got a fight on his hand, the same goes for the rest of the squad. We got competition all over the place except for the fullbacks, that goes for both flanks… Saying that though, Milner is more than capable of operating on both flanks, I reckon he could take over from Clyne as well.

Karius was out like a shot to sweep up that one time but if Migs had missed the punch that Karius did, he’d have been slaughtered for it on here.

I’ll watch him a few times in the hope that he’s an improvement but by no means am I assuming that he’s better than Migs.

I have to agree Mr Mak. At the moment it feels like he’s being built up as some sort of saviour that finally addresses the goalkeeper position. From what little I’ve seen of him, we can’t be sure this will be the case. I sense he might be quicker off his line, better with his feet both with the ball and in tackles, that bit more assertive, etc. But commanding the box is one of the most important attributes of a keeper and I have seen him flap in the few occasions I have seen him play (both at Mainz & us). He may have been bought partly for his outfield playing attributes. The fact that he comes from Mainz is also telling. This was where Klopp spent most of his playing & managerial career so he obviously knows a bit about him and has friends there, but he may in part be using their judgement on him. We’ll see how he does.

Remember when one of Houllier’s coaches left to become manager of Lens, and he convinced GH to sign Diouf instead of Anelka? Hopefully, this situation with Mainz/Karius works out in our favour.

Basically,Klopp has worked with Mignolet a while now,and he’s now giving Karius his chance to impress. If he proves more reliable than Mignolet, then he will hopefully replace him in the long term as number 1.

    Karius deserves his chance

All players deserve their chance if they work for it, right now Karius is taking his and I´m loving it. This team looks better then the one we had in 2014, I kid you not. We got more cover, more competition and everyone is on their toes. It makes for a great mix
