So Kroenke wants to buy Usmanovs shares and make it private.
If it goes through then it would be the end of the club as we know it.August 7, 2018 at 10:56 am #1662545
The beggining of the end for this club
Forget New manager, lack of transfers,Obscene wages we pay.If the Kronke takeover goes through it is the worst news recieved possibly ever for this club.
From what I understand, the clown is actually taking a loan to buy the Usmonov’s shares for which the any money towards repayment of the loan will be taken out from the business of Arsenal football club.As it is he’s not investing any of his own money in the running of the club,he now wants to make the club liable towards repayment of the loans. He’ll have full control of the club where he’s neither going to be obliged to show any responsibility nor accountability. He can do what he wants,no AGM,no disclosure of the club’s finances nothing. The fans will have no say whatsoever, and if we don’t do anything now we won’t be able to do anything later.Mass protests need to be carried out at this very moment, not only to stop the takeover but to actually boot Kronke out of the club.I don’t think the majority of fans actually understand the gravity of this situation, having an investor not a supporter, someone who’s ready to make the club liable for just about everything.
The offer is expected to be accepted,Usmanov I plead you not to sell.
What an absolute Joke, just one week before the season starts it’s like this club’s been hit by a storm. And I really really worry for this club’s future.
If this takeover goes through,we’d be lucky to even have a sniff at the Carabao cup let alone other trophies.August 7, 2018 at 11:15 am #1662554
I think Usmanov has already accepted it according to BBC so Im sure it will go through.
Kroenke has already shown he does not care what fans think. Unless we stop paying for anything, going to games, terminate seasontickets he aint going to care. Protests wont matter one bit but he basiclly killed the atmosphere just before the season. Which means he does not care about anything except money and as long as that pours in he will remain.August 7, 2018 at 12:58 pm #1662603
I’ve written about this before and as I feared it looks like Kroenke will take complete control. Complete control means no AGM, no accountability and is the end of the club as we know it. Thing is who else would Usmanov be able to sell to? He has no say and is a dead duck why would anyone other than an incredibly wealthy Arsenal fan want to buy shares without a say.August 7, 2018 at 1:12 pm #1662609
Don’t really know what all the fuss is about? In reality and on a day to day basis what will change ? Nothing as far as I can see. As is he runs the club anyway. Us and all the other shareholders if they actually disagreed with something the club was doing they could do nothing about it! So what if there is No AGM where fans can complain as they have done for years, what did that achieve? I remember protests at United and Liverpool for the same reason saying the club was doomed well neither has gone to the wall in fact far from it. He is by far not the worst owner no perfect but there are far worse. The club has been run well financially over the last few years so as I see it nothing will change and its fuss about nothing.August 7, 2018 at 1:32 pm #1662623
Steve one thing that will change is that Kroenke will be able to take loans that are put on Arsenal to finance something else. He will be able to add back the management fee that was removed because it was questioned at a AGM meeting. Meaning he can start taking money out of the club without us knowing it.
Yes we are financially sound now because he could not do this without shareholders knowing before and now he can. The management fee will for sure come back and will probably be higher than before.
So money that is generated in to our club will now for sure go to Kroenke directly.
That should worry you.August 7, 2018 at 1:59 pm #1662636
No it does not as It would not have been enough to make any significant difference to the balance sheet. If he wanted to keep it he could have, he chose not to. Do you not think he takes money from the club already, he is the majority share holder so effectively owns the club, so him buying more shares, as far as I can see will make no difference. So he could take Loans if he takes it private but has not said he is planning to do that. As I said this is how Liverpool and United are Run and as I said unless I am missing something they seem to be doing fine !August 7, 2018 at 2:53 pm #1662676
He choose not to because of the backlash he got.
This time you would not even know and if he took it then he will take it now. He just cant take money out of the club now thats the difference it will show up on the balance sheet as he needs to disclose it. He could of course but he would have to explain it something he was not willing to do with the management fee and therfor removed it. You think its ok to take money from AFC to use on Denver Nuggets I dont and even if he does not he should not be able to which is a problem for me.
Thing is its not what he will do its what he can do without anyone knowing.
Kroenkes other sports teams loose money and he can cover those with our gains. That he could not do before do you really think he wont?
Compare us to Utd come on they are so much bigger than our club that it wont matter if the owners takes money. Our penny pinching will get worse for sure.August 7, 2018 at 3:25 pm #1662693
I compared us to United and Liverpool who are not so much bigger than us! Both fans kicked off when it happened to them, I remember united fans having mass protests but as I said neither has done to badly. As we speak I don’t think we have anything to worry about. Speculation about future borrowing against the club and him taking money out is a bit premature. I don’t think he has done a bad job so far we are in the black and have a decent structure within the club. All we need now is a bit of success on the pitch!August 7, 2018 at 3:29 pm #1662696
Just so you know eight years ago Pool was on the brink of bancruptsy with American owners. So it was not all fine and dandy for them even though they look more solid now under the new owners.
Utd has paid about £1 billion in interest to the owners since 2005 because yes they took a loan to buy the club just as Kroenke do. He says it wont be like that but Im pretty sure it will. As a supporter I would like the money to go to the club instead of paying interest for a loan so Kroenke can have his personal toy.August 7, 2018 at 4:32 pm #1662720
The issue is Muffler this isn’t Kroenke’s toy. Kroenke doesn’t like football he sees Arsenal as an investment and no more and when you’ve got clubs with owners who don’t see it like that and are happy to pump millions in how are we ever going to compete?August 7, 2018 at 5:58 pm #1662742
Astonishing comment stev2bath1. We do not have “anything to worry about!” The silent yank is borrowing $500m to finance the deal and says it won’t be against the club and you believe him! In addition, what about management fees, dividends etc as he can now do whatever he wants without any redress. I can see Everton benefitting with Usmanov now, just wait and see. You say you don’t think SK has done a bad job as we are “in the black”. Wonderful, that’s why we are spending what’s in the bank are we? As for Liverpool and United, have their owners refused the manager money in recent years or have they left it to gain interest as we have? Why has SK never put one penny into any transfer funds when it is there to be spent? That’s why we have second-rate players coming in this season and if we get into the top four it will be a miracle. But don’t worry stev, it’s all ok, because we are in the black and we have a decent structure! With respect, you do not have a clue.August 7, 2018 at 6:01 pm #1662744
Man utd and Liverpool actually do good business while selling their players, hence are able to spend much more than us.Kronke has appointed idiots incharge, and he dosen’t invest any of his own money in transfers. He dosen’t because he’s not a fan of the club, hell He probably dosen’t even like football. He’s bought it purely as a fianancial investment. He couldn’t care less if we win anything or not.
I still can’t believe this Kronke takeover has happened, all my enthusiasm for the new season is vanished.I’ve falled out of Love with this club,we are only going to go even more backwards now that Kronke has more power.Mass protests need to be carried out,if not than the fans(majority) and this owner deserve each other.August 7, 2018 at 6:11 pm #1662746
Hopefully for you that he’s nothing like Mike Ashley??? Once someone has full control then they do what they want? We’ve made a profit every single transfer windowAugust 7, 2018 at 9:07 pm #1662810
Ladies and Gentlemen. The way we know about football is death. Its official. Now we shall expect to pay highere ticket prices, season tickets, merchandise.etc.etc.
And off course the highere tv prices to watch any league.
In the home games the usual supporters will not be ones who fill the seats. It will be tourist. And since moving to emirates stadium it was always tourist who filled the small ammount of it. And now…. Those who are willing the ridicolous prices willAugust 7, 2018 at 11:59 pm #1662835
This is the way of the world in football now. Had usmanov taken over it would have been the same. All clubs are not owned by fans premier league is big business! It’s not the 70,s and 80,s with club owners who were fans bankrupting them selves or spending half there fortune on the club of their club they grew up supporting. Forget just us, look around at how all the clubs are run by rich guys with multi millions who are not fans, it’s already happened at most clubs or it will happen. Our club has been owned by the American for years so we need to move on from this old romantic dream of fan ownership as it’s dead! Let’s just hope he keeps the club solvent and well run financially as he has done.August 8, 2018 at 8:53 am #1662902
The timing of it all does make me wonder..
The share price is down
He takes a loan to buy
More money coming in via PL and TV deals
It all makes sense
Anyone can see that it will be Arsenal who pay Kroenke for this investment.
That will mean that funds for transfers will be as low as it was when we had to pay the stadium. So us competing for the PL is the same BS we have heard since Kroenke took over. We are not going to for years to come until this has been paid off.August 8, 2018 at 11:21 am #1662998
The initial reaction is always going to be seen as a negative
You will now be in the same boat as the rest of the top 6 but I see a significant difference for Arsenal. The fact that Kroenke has been involved with Arsenal for so long does indicate some “affection” for the club which was different to ManU and Liverpool
I am sure that the underlying intent is to make money but equally I do not think that Kroenke is out to destroy the club or see it fail in any way. In the same way that ManU and Liverpool have progressed I see no reason for Arsenal not to follow suit and in general would expect little to change in terms of the day to day running of the club. More money for the manager has been made available over the last couple of seasons which was required anyway and should continue
Clearly only time will tell but I do feel that some of the concerns are unwarranted…? KTBFFHAugust 8, 2018 at 11:47 am #1663024
Dont confuse affection with money which is the only thing that interests Kroenke.
Will it mean more money to buy players no it wont as it have never been Kroenkes style.
The loan he takes needs to be paid off and regardless of what he states now it will be Arsenal who pay for it, just as with Utd. He cant go out and say it because the backlash for that would be huge if he then also increase ticket prices. So when he owns 100% he does not need to disclose it. Arsenal will be his piggy bank which Fatmop is a kind of toy and the point I made.
He will never use his own money in to this club he will use the clubs money to pay for him buying it.
Thats my view of what will happen, I cant say for sure it will but it happens at Utd so why not here. Kroenke is not stupid when it comes to business and that is what AFC is to him nothing else. He could not care less what happens on the pitch as long as money comes in and it will come in regardless.August 8, 2018 at 2:21 pm #1663122
Even if he treats it as business he surely would not want to depreciate the value with no re-investment and just taking money from the club. As people seem to acknowledge he is a good business man then surely that would be his plan. I have just read he has paid £45 million from his own money for the deal so its not the case he has not spent any of his own cash. (independent newspaper online article). Not really sure on your point about the loan of course he has to pay it off, how he does that we will see. As I said a lot of negative rubbish based on a lot of future what ifs!
