Rumours that Tom Lawrence is going to WBA.I take him,very good player and not to old.COYB Norway baggie
He’s 28 but he’s probably an improvement on what we have. We need a Livermore replacement. Yokuslu would be nice if we could get him. We need another Pereira as well but I can’t see either happening and we need to get rid of a lot of (old) dead wood. Zohore, Bartley, Bryan, Phillips, Reach and possibly Mowatt.
On paper it’s all looking pretty good. Swift and Wallace are two positives and if we can land if we can land Lawrence, Choudry and Archer on a season’s loan we should have a strong champiuonship squad. In addition SB is taking 4 youngsters to training camp with the seniors. But I did say on paper. I have the feeling that interms of turning potential into reality Bruce is probably past it. Thr first match at Middlesborough is the perfect start, a game that we have to do weel in if we are to be one of the stronger sides in the division.
There seems to be some doubt regarding Lawrence as the Mail says he’s ready to sign but the E&S says we’re not interested (might be a smokescreen). Also Leicester want us to pay 80% of Choudhry’s wages which might be a stumbling block.
Bruce and the club have one better in the window than I expected. The only doubts are in the central defenders we have. Ajayi is obviously back to his best and with O’shea is oone of the first names on the teamsheet. But I’m not convinced about Bartley and unless we do manage to land Clarke, the centre back department is pretty thin on the ground. For this reason I didn’t understand the wisdom of sending Caleb on loan.
I suppose Townsend could fill in there and Ingram coming in or the barely adequate Reach but it has the feel of making do.
