Honestly guys, I really don’t know how this will go, am quite certain if we get a penalty we’ll miss it.

Rodgers is probably telling his defenders to take us down in the box.

Thinking we’ll scrape a desperate 2-1 win, simply because we really can’t afford to slip up again.

    This had me in stitches.

Leicester are 4/1 to win. Definitely worth a couple quid in a small acca.
I’m prediction an unconvincing 1-1 draw for this one

Another great goal by Dan James tonight. Looks a very decent prospect doesn’t he? Have our scouts unearthed another gem?

Have our scouts unearthed another gem? – Another? Remind me, who was the last gem they unearthed?

@Happy – Not even you can claim that AWB is some sort of scouting success when we paid 50 million smackers for the fucker!, plus it’s far too early to judge any of our new players based on less than a handful of games so far.

Hopefully, both AWB and Dan James keep up the good work as the going gets far tougher from now on. Unfortunately for them they are surrounded by so much shite that it’s going to be a very tough ask, simple as that.

I agree that AWB can’t be considered finding a hidden gem however I do like the direction the club has taken this window in terms of the type of player we are trying to sign. If we were still under LVG or Mourinho we would’ve probably gone for Dani Alves or someone of the like – the big name with not much care to age or wage; whilst I highly doubt we would’ve signed James too and probably would’ve gone all out for Bale instead.

Hopefully this is a sign that the scouts have pulled their finger out and are actually doing their job rather than being given a totally free ride to mess up constantly.

Blacky – So a scouting success is based on getting the player for a small price? Not sure what City’s scouts are up to then, by that rational they’ve never unearthed a gem!

Sympathy – Agree, it is a good direction. Problem we have is results aren’t matching that direction at the moment. Patience is key in this period but i really think Ole is a couple of bad results away from being under serious pressure. It’s not inconceivable that we lose to Leicester and West Ham on current form, what do you think would happen then?

@happy – Don’t know why you’re bringing City into it, haven’t we generally outspent them over the last 3 or 4 seasons anyway?. During which time they are the ones winning domestic trebles and league titles whilst we are the ones scrambling around just making up the numbers.

To try and suggest that our scouts have done anything better than a totally appalling job these last few years is laughable, unless of course you are still hanging on to the forlorn hope that carthorses like Lindeloaf and co are suddenly going to come good!😂😂

“Unearthing a gem” means finding a relatively unknown player who turns out to be a star and worth far far more than the fee paid.

Incidentally, James was not scouted, he was recommended to the club by Giggs.

    =============

Looking at the FIFA20 top 100 players. Only 2 United players make the list, Pogba & DDG, and both of them have had very iffy performances and both of them want away. Sad sad times indeed.

Rodri @£67m is City’s most expensive signing in their history. Yes they buy expensive players but they buy well and that’s the major difference between them and us. If a deal is too expensive they pull out, whereas Woodturd thinks that the more money the better it makes us look and spunks all over his cheque book. Buying a Morris Minor for the cost of a Ferrari is not good business Ed

Killy – I know I’m fighting a losing argument here, but, Mangala, Neves, Bony, Savic, Nastatic, Bravo, Danilo and Jovatic don’t point to every penny being spent wisely.

Mac – So Dan James is an unearthed gem then, even by your description!

Blacky – All I said was Dan James looks a great prospect and it looks like we done very well to get him when we did and at that price. Agree or not?

@happyhurling – Its far far too early to say and silly of you to give him star status afteronly a handful of games. But yes, if he turns out to be a Giggs or even an Ole then he would go down as an unearthed gem.

Happy, please don’t talk rot. No player can go from championship to PL star after 4 games. You are already proclaiming him to be a gem. You’ll have him down as United legend next month.

Am going for a 3-1 win for us.

@happyhurling – irrespective of who the manager is, if results are not achieved on the pitch then the manager is going to come under pressure, and more so the longer the bad results last. Even if Fergie himself had to come back right now, if we go on a 10 match losing streak he’s still going to feel it – such is today’s business-minded working of the club.

It is a tough call though if results don’t pick up soon:

Give Ole that year or two he needs but risk ending up in 10th place

    OR

Sack Ole and bring in a more accomplished manager who can go either way?

Personally I’d see Ole through to the end of the season, irrespective of final placing: the squad very clearly isn’t good enough so maybe ending up in 10th place will be the kick in the teeth that the Glazers and Woodward need to get their sh*t sorted.

    Cheers
