Thought I’d kick this thread off as Villa have just dumped Leicester out the cup. Wonder how much this midweek game has taken out of the Leicester players? Chelsea will definitely be the fresher side. I’m sure Brendan was hoping that he wouldn’t have had to use Vardy tonight but use him he did. Still dont think he’s 100% which bodes well for us. Reckon we could take all three points and the fact that we are playing a direct rival for top 4 should give us all the motivation we need.

Really tough game which maybe got tougher with Leicester’s elimination? We could do with Tammy for this one.

Very tough, in fact scary if the clinical, in form Leicester decide to turn up and our defence is not on the ball. After that United and Spuds at home and then Bournemouth away so a critical run of matches ahead of us in our endeavours to hang on to fourth place. Poor form and we could be out of fourth before the end of February.

I think this is a tough game for us. But probably this is what we need. Leicester’s defense rarely keep a clean sheet and they don’t play defensively. But we said the same thing against Arsenal that ended 2-2. I think this match against Leicester can go either way. If Abraham starts, I would be more optimistic, but not sure though about his injury, no news so far.

I was reading from somewhere this morning that Chelsea would ask Abraham to play through the pain barriers. in my opinion that is even more risk than missing him for a few games. if he is not available and is not fit we should let him recover well.

As for the Leicester game, my prefered formation is 3-4-3. Kepa, Azpi-Rudiger-Tomori, Reece James-Kante-Kovacic-Alonso, Willian-Grioud-Mount. keep Jorginho rested on the bench as he is out of form. we can introduce him if we are a goal up. i would also replace Giroud with Batshuayi if he is not fit or have left the club by then.

I agree with you Chelseaman on that formation. the one slight exception i would have is that i would play Tomori, Zouma, Rudiger in our back three. i would also tweak it, to play 3-5-2, i would add Barkley alongside Kante and Mount instead to play 3 midfielders and let Willian join alongside whoever plays up top. Alonso as a wing back is fantastic, and my preference is Reece James also on the wing back. i will rest Azpi.

Chelseaman and young boy could be, that’s pretty much the way Frank went v Spurs, those tactics and the line up though might depend on the fitness of James although Azpi played the right wing back role v Spurs and the back 3 were Zouma, Rudiger and Tomori who was one of our best players v Hull.

I don’t think you could select Giroud to play v Leicester if he’s still with us because given all the transfer speculation his head probably won’t be in the right place so if Tammy doesn’t make then it’s Michy for me up front for this one.

hahaha You are exposing me there by calling me young boy. anyway i hope Frank selects that line up, because 3 at the back with Alonso and James as wing backs will give us the best attacking option and penetration.

    I doubt FL will play back 3. I think it will be the usual formation. Kepa – James,Christensen,Rudiger,Azpi – Kante,Jorginho,Kovacic – Mount,Batshuayi,Willian.

I think CHO will drop to the bench this time

Had a change of heart on my previous post in this thread mainly due to the current circumstances (this week).

4 hours to kick off and will be tough but for some reason I have got a good feeling about this match because after no activity in the window these players are going to rally for Frank and repay his belief in them. On top of that I think Vardy is out and Leicester are on a bit of a downer coming off the back of a midweek Carabao loss to Villa whilst our lads have been rested. Not often Frank has had a whole week to focus on one match. Hope I am right. 1-0 to us.

Well, Frank showing his teeth. Fair play to him. Kepa dropped, 4-2-3-1 formation, Pedro in for Willian, Mount playing in the 10 role….brave calls. Let’s hope it works. Definitely more goals in that line up. And…Tammy starts. Hope he gets through game ok with a goal or 2. Very, very tough outing…I’ll take a point now.

I’m sure I have seen this movie before. I can probably tell you all what happens next. It’s an instant replay of ten or more odd matches I have seen so far this season. The question is will they score just after half time or in the 85th to 90th minutes? Very creative as usual then fluff the lines inside the penalty area. James excellent as usual. Mount not going as well as early season form. Tammy just typical Tammy.

Big decision by Frank to drop Kepa and play Willy. That’s what I like about Frank he’s not afraid to make the big decisions.

Scrappy goal after a typical first half where we fluffed a host of chances. We giving away possession too much. We will need another goals as I fear one wont be enough. Christensen has been great as well as Reece James.

Shit this match is infuriating. 2-2 now and there will be more goals. I’ve no idea how this will end. What’s clear though is that a Mertens or Cavani would have taken at least one of the many chances we’ve had.

what a match, this is Premier League. Both teams had chances. But I think our fault is that we were not able to score beginning of the first half where we were really dangerous. For me we have to shoot more. Not to pass all the time. Try to shoot at least. CHO had some opportunities to shoot but he did not. Pedro was ok before then fading. Abraham had some chances too.

Anyway, a good performance from us. Frank Lampard knows where to reinforce in the summer. It’s not what we need as the distance with Leicester stays the same. But hopefully other teams will not get full points as they have heavy match too (Man Utd, Spurs)
