Klopp: 7.5/10. Fair to say a lot of his bizarre decisions got us into quite the mess but he deserves all the credit for getting us out of it.

FSG: 3/10. Made good signings in Thiago and Jota but the way they handled the CB situation was absolutely disastrous. Then there was the whole ESL fiasco. Hasn’t been their best work.

Alisson: 7.5/10. Didn’t look his best for a lot of this season but can’t really blame him. Still made a lot of important saves + that goal really kept us in it. There isn’t a better GK in the world.

Adrian: 2/10. Do I really need to explain this one?

Kelleher: 7/10. Good breakthrough season for him. Came in and showed that he can be an able #2 with very limited chances.

VVD: N/A. Not going to do ratings for the 3 CBs. Showed how important he was with his absence.

Gomez: N/A. Can’t really say much about this but other than some good performances in the CL, he wasn’t having the best season otherwise.

Matip: N/A. Love Joel. If the only game he plays in a season is the CL final, I’d be pretty happy with that. Unfortunately, I think we’re well past relying on him to be available regularly.

Nat: 9/10. He at least has a shout for POTS. I maintain that he’s not as limited as some make him out to be. He was absolutely sublime and we would not have finished where we did without him. If he does leave, he can leave with his head held high.

Ozan: 8/10. Bit of a shaky start but he really came into his own and showed his quality. Still think we should make his move permanent.

Rhys: 6.5/10. I don’t think he’s had bad performances. I just think he wasn’t at the level required. Still put in some important performances especially this last one.

Davies: -/10. This is a weird one. On the 1 hand, he hasn’t played. On the other hand, he hasn’t played when we virtually had no options. I’m very inclined to give him a 0 but I don’t see how that’s fair either. I’m just going to leave this one blank.

TAA: 7.5/10. Had a pretty poor start to the season for various reasons including injury and Covid. Only really recovered to his best level after that England debacle. There isn’t another player like him.

Neco: 4/10. Disappointed with this one. Thought he would kick on after his strong finish to last season but he just hasn’t looked up to par. A few decent performances but also some really poor ones.

Robbo: 8/10. His passing in particular wasn’t great this season but he ALWAYS put in a shift especially defensively.

Tsimikas: 3/10. Never really got a chance with injuries also playing a big part nor did he ever show any inclination for him to get one. He really has a lot of work to do.

Fabinho: 9/10. Really showed how important he was to this team. Best DM in the world. Just taking him out of midfield was enough to cripple us at times. We would have been far worse off without him.

Gini: 7/10. Hasn’t had his best season but he stayed fit and was available all the time. Only time will tell how much he will really be missed if he doesn’t end up staying.

Thiago: 8/10. Had major injury problems and then took some time to get adjusted but what a player he showed himself to be at time. Important to note that he stayed fit once he got over the major issues. Really looking forward to seeing more next season.

Hendo: 7.5/10. Injuries also a big issue but taking him out of midfield had to be the single most stupid thing we did this season. Still thought him and Phillips complemented each other really well. Was a big miss.

Milner: 8/10. Great respect for Millie. Played harder than anyone this season even to his own detriment.

Jones: 8/10. Not a rating based on his relative performances to others but more of how he stepped in during his debut season. One of our best prospects in years.

Shaq: 5.5/10. Had some brilliant flashes but ultimately too far and few between.

Ox: 3/10. Another one hit with injuries. Never really showed anything outstanding in his limited game time this season other than that goal against Burnley.

Naby: 4/10. Had 1 or 2 decent performances but I’ve lost my patience with him.

Bobby: 6.5/10. Wasn’t anywhere near his best but no one else can lead a press like him.
    Still scored some big goals.

Sadio: 7/10. 16 goals and 8 assists and yet a strong argument could be made that he’s been pretty bad this season.

Jota: 8.5/10. Pretty fantastic debut season and really pushed the front 3. Another huge mistake in our season was playing him in a dead rubber and getting him ruled out for an extended period. Off the ball movement is top class.

Takumi Minamino: 3/10. Had some good games but never really built up a head of steam. Things haven’t gotten much better elsewhere. Should be moved on.

Divock Origi: 1/10. The very definition of a waste of space. I don’t really care what anyone says about this one, I’ll have him down for worst player of the season. The “1” was for his only significant contribution this season. No, not the goal against Lincoln, the assist against Leipzig. Our GK outscored him in the league. I think the words “fuck” and “off” need to be presented to him in that order.

Mo Salah: 9.5/10. There can only be 1 POTS and he’s definitely earned it. Haven’t been happy with a lot of his play which is why I haven’t gone the full 10 but still a world class return from him.

The Season: 6/10. Don’t know if I missed anyone but overall, disappointed with how we collapsed this season. This is still one of the best teams ever assembled. We were complacent at times on and off the pitch earlier on in the season and then fell off a cliff at the turn of the year when the injuries finally caught up with us. The recovery came slightly too late in terms of the CL. At the same time, I think we’ve also discovered that we can still win without our best players which I think will be invaluable for us going forward. At least we still finished 3rd. I’m more than happy to put this season behind us.

Mostly agree apart from Robbo who was average & steady this season can’t remember him having a great game but at the same time no real bad games.
    So I’d give him a 7.

Kabak 7.5 doesn’t look like we are going to buy him.

Sadio 6.5 can’t mis so many chances.

Allison get an extra point because he made us like 50 million quid with 1 beautiful last minute header.

I agree with pretty much all of that except maybe :

Klopp 7/10 . He pulled it together and due credit, as you mentioned above.. very tough year for the man. I’d go lower though because he should have realised that midfielders in CB arent a good idea, long before he did. he set it straight tho and Im pleased for him that we’ve got the CL.

    Keita 2/10

Williams : 5/10 . not knocking him as he was over his head but we are rating people on how well they played and he’s not at this standard yet. I wish him all th ebest in his career and hope he has a good one but I dont think it’ll be here.

Trent : 7/10. id go lower only he was integral in our change of form. I could kiss Southgate on the mouth because that omission sparked Trent and had he not done that, we might be playing in the Europa League next season.

    Southgate /10/10

everything else is bang on. especially the season rating of 6/10.

If we were to rate the last 10 games or so, you’d have to give it 10/10.

Cheers guys. Fair enough with regards to what both of you posted. I think differences of 0.5 or 1 point in the ratings can account for the differences in our opinions. The whole point of the exercise anyway is to award as fair a score as possible for each involved party and if say we generally have a pretty stable opinion about the ratings.

AK. Agree about Kabak although I would still be very slightly disappointed about it. Was thinking about a 6 or 6.5 for Mane but it’s still a very good return from him so I thought it was a bit harsh.

Mak. I can understand the pragmatism when it comes to certain parties. Thought Naby did have 1 or 2 genuinely good games so I thought 2 or 3 was a bit harsh, but I can understand it. We really don’t need him and can’t rely on him. Rhys is another who I probably would have marked lower but maybe I gave a bit more because of the circumstances. Will be interesting to see what actually happens with the CBs this summer. Also Southgate can fuck off lol but I agree he did do something that helped galvanise our season.

Ya, the Southgate 10/10 was for a bit of a laugh but he surprised me with the lesson he dished out. I dislike him less now.

Ya, for Keita, 1-2 good games over a whole season leaves a bitter taste in my mouth but see, I am just long tired of hoping he’ll go good and being let down. So there is some bias there.

Agree to a certain extent to most part of players but there is 1 player that I find puzzled about. Curtis Jones seemed to be highly rated by many fans as it seems which I dont quite understand. He is still young, I dont want to be too harsh on him. I feel that he is a tad overhyped. I may not have watched all the games that he had played in to make a fair assessment, I just think it is still too early to know how good he is as what many claimed he is to be. And to give him a 8 rating having only start a third in a season with hardly any memorable moments is a wee bit too much.

All in all, a good run out for the 20 y/o for his debut season. However, I will refrain myself from making any further comments about him until I see more of him in the future.

Ye mostly agree about that razor. A lot of players had a serious dip in form nearly all at the same time

    Robbo barely got a rest.

Klopp biggest mistakes was playing fabhino at Cb when we needed him in midfield. He didn’t trust Philips at the start.

Keita has to go. Has the talent but injured far to much

I’d take kabak for 18m. Huge risk going into next season if we are depending on Gomez and matip

We need 5/6 can excluding fabhino

Rhys Williams needs to on loan

I’d give Klopp 9 out of 10 for finishing 3rd despite being 7th as recently as 14th April after drawing with Leeds. That’s a hefty £58m in the bank for such a great feat of winning 8 and drawing 2 of our last 10 games.

Only reason he doesn’t get a higher rating, is because he persisted too long with playing Fabinho and/or Henderson at CB. However no team in the world can cope with missing all it’s 3 main CBs for virtually the whole season, City missed only one CB, Laporte in 2020, and they moaned about it all season, giving it as an excuse for finishing so far behind Liverpool.

As for the other players, hard to judge properly, considering the monumental disasters on and off the pitch. Although Salah, Mane and Jota performed to their expected high level. Mane is in fact our highest rated player on WhoScored (followed by Phillips), and for those who don’t understand that, it is because of all the dirty, unheralded work he does that goes unnoticed.

Special mention must go to Phillips though for proving he is definitely a PL defender worth at least £20m, and Thiago for overcoming a very rocky start (and injury) to eventually show why he can become the best midfielder in the league, once our full team is back

I actually have the same opinion about Jones, garydos.

While he has had some exceptional games this season, he is far too casual and laidback on the ball at times, remember his mistake against West Brom in Dec that gave them an easy way back into the game? Seems like he believes the hype about him, being a local lad.

Need to see much more intensity, consistency and graft from him, if he is too become a regular starter for Liverpool

He was literally a teenager for half the season and for most games he played in.
It is not unusual for a teenager to be inconsistent.
If we’d bought him from another club after his performances this season we’d be pretty happy.
I, for one, will be cutting him some slack.

Ok, let’s see what he can do next season then, once he’s more mature and experienced. Good thing is that he’s young with lots of room for improvement

Nat Phillips is the highest rated CB and 11th highest rated player overall in the PL this season according to whoscored.

I think his score is so high because he only has 17 apps in the PL, while the highest rated defenders for the season, Maguire and Takowski, have both played around 35 times.

Who knows what his score would be if he played a full season for Liverpool

I think he’d still be up there tbh. Phillips scored above 7 in 11 of 17 (64.7%) PL games, 2 of which were sub appearances, so 11 in 15 (73.3%) starts. He hasn’t scored below 7 since the defeat against Fulham. Phillips scored above 7 in 2 of 3 (66.7%) CL games. I agree it wouldn’t be as high a rating because ratings like the 9.5 he received against Burnley wouldn’t have as much of a difference in terms of overall rating.

Meanwhile, Slabhead has scored above 7 in 22 of his 35 (62.9%) PL games, all starts. Slabhead also scored above 7 in 1 of 5 (20%) CL appearances and 3 of 6 (50%) EL games. Tarkowski has scored above 7 in 18 of 36 (50%) of his PL games, all starts, with no CL football. While you’re right that we can’t compare directly because of the sample sizes, his percentages in terms of overall ratings are still better than both those players so I think he’d still score above them if he played more games.

I would give the team spirit 10/10, everyone put their egos aside for the last five games.
Proves that the players are talented on the pitch but have the intelligence to know what is required to get us over the line.

Intresesting comparison between Philips & Slabhead. I don’t see how Slabhead is much better tbh he is clearly not a well rounded defender. I would be sad to see Philips go he has a no nonsense style of defending which is needed sometimes. Obviously lack of pace in our style of play is a problem. I get frustrated when fans say why don’t we just stop playing a highline? They don’t get the affect that would have on the rest of the team & formation it’s not as simple as dropping back a few yards the midfield would also need to move back of or the space between them would be huge ect ect.

We can play a high line when VVD is back because that man draws his own line anywhere he wants.

Philips has the chance of overtaking Matip in the lineup, I can see him doing it as he will be so determined to improve his game, the way he has grasped this opportunity with both hands impressses me… Right now his game suffers mainly because of his distribution of the ball and if he can improve on that in the summer I think he will overtake Matip in the squad in the near future…I reckon Joel has about a year to save his career here at Anfield but I doubt his body is willing to do so, so selling Philips is a big no for me!
