The temptation is to rotate, but I don’t think Klopp will make too many changes. It would be nice to see Lallana get a start, and surely Firmino could do with a rest. I hope we don’t get any injuries and we keep up the momentum.
March 4, 2018 at 10:44 am #1606745I can see Moreno, Matip, Gomez, Lallana starting this game.
Maybe a change to 1/2 of the front 3 too.
We don’t need to risk players needlessly.
Could even play Mané for an hour and then bring on Salah.
Can defo see changes for this game.March 4, 2018 at 10:53 am #1606748I can see lots of rotation, hopefully it will not unsettle our rythm.
March 4, 2018 at 11:13 am #1606758This is a weird one winning is a good habit so I would like to see a team who is dynamic & up for it. We have to have the correct mindset look to score early at the same time we need to rest some players. I would rest VVD frimino robbo & Salah maybe give Mane 60 mins n Salah 30 mins. Look to keep a clean sheet & score a couple. Should be an easy game surely !
March 4, 2018 at 12:33 pm #1606777Arsenal learnt a lesson resting players against Ostersunds and at one point were shitting themselves in the tie. Now I’m not for one minute saying we could find ourselves 4-0 down in the tie but we have to be careful because Porto are no mugs and must be given zero encouragement. As a result I think it will be a decent team Jurgen puts out hoping to rest a few main men.
March 4, 2018 at 1:08 pm #1606789I can see some rotation to rest legs for the game against United.
Bringing in Matip and Gomez for Van Dijk and TAA, for a start, while in midfield Milner for OX, and upfront Lallana for Mane or Salah (though they can come on later). And even Moreno could start.
Around 4 or 5 changes should secure the result without any drama
March 4, 2018 at 4:47 pm #1606874Shaksy I think I agree with you. Before I was like “lets rest as much as we can” now I think that could be counterproductive. Porto are coming into the with the mindset of playing for pride first. We have to have a good mindset and strategy and imagine the game is 0-0 as Porto are going to want to make up for what happened. they are going to give 110% for every tackle, pass and shot. That will mean we will have an intense game by default. Porto are good enough to smack our reserve team even at Anfield, lets not get too cocky lol. I would start with as good attack as possible and then aim to kill the game off in the first half. Once we get one or two goals it will severely demoralise any fantasy hopes Porto have and also kill their spirit with regard to them coming to Anfield to show some pride. Then naturally the intensity of the game will lessen and turn into a training match, anyways.
The fear for me is that we put a shadow steam out and end up 3-0 down by halftime. If West Brom can smack us 3-1 at Anfield I would put it past Porto to do something similar…
And NO im saying Porto are going to eat up a 5-0 lead lol but there’s no point in making what should be an easy exercise into a military exercise.
Karius
Gomez – Matip – VVD – Moreno
Gini – Henderson – Lallana
Salah – Solanke – Mane
Ideal subs: Mane, Salah and VVD to come off once we get 1 or 2 goal lead 45 mins onwards.
March 5, 2018 at 6:31 am #1607045I would put the strongest team out. Theres just too much at stake here.
March 5, 2018 at 8:59 am #1607097I’m gonna assume that’s a piss take Reds.
March 5, 2018 at 9:22 am #1607119Karius; Gomez, Matip, Klavan, Moreno; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke, Mané
March 5, 2018 at 10:42 am #1607181Its not ginger. Ok maybe rest 1 player. Or 2 the most.
March 5, 2018 at 10:45 am #1607183I dont think klopp will rest many players, if any.
March 5, 2018 at 10:48 am #1607187The big problem when you have a 5-goal advantage is motivating yourself to play at the highest level in the 2nd leg. That is why I believe some rotation (3 or 4 players) could be the solution as the new players should have more hunger than the regulars since they want to stake their claim for a place in the team e.g. Lallana, Milner, Gomez, Ings
The best way to approach this game, rotation or not, is to finish off Porto in the first half. And ideally not play our top players for a full game, to keep them in even better shape for Saturday
March 5, 2018 at 10:48 am #1607188Really hope klopp and the team are not taking this second leg as being over like we all seem to be! Porto on their day can really cause an upset. Lets just focus on beating them and then we can think about the scum for a full 3 days after.
March 5, 2018 at 10:54 am #1607194After this we have at least 11 games (hopefully more) still left to play so the first team need to be in the best shape going into the business end of the season. Come on we cant lose by 5 or 6 goals tomorrow so wee need to use our squad but still go to with the correct mindset of winning & not conceding.
March 5, 2018 at 11:16 am #1607208If we’re not gonna rest/rotate players for a game that we are 5 up in and playing at home when are we gonna rest players?
Not to mention we are to play Utd a few days later.I’m confident that the likes of Moreno, Matip, Lallana etc will be playing this game
March 5, 2018 at 1:03 pm #1607292Concerned about injuries for this one. We can still put a very string team aswell with resting players.
Huge game sat. We are 5 up , ideal time to rest some key players
We be livid if any of the front 3 get injured in this
March 5, 2018 at 2:07 pm #1607351Porto will be without Telles, Marega, Soares and Danilo. Four of their top players. Here’s my starting line-up:
Karius
Moreno (don’t want Robbo injured for Man U)
Matip
Klavan
GomezWij
Hendo
Lallana
ManeIngs
SolankeDiamond 442. Why the hell not? Surely one of Ings/Solanke could score and just one goal will feel like a hat-trick to them.
March 5, 2018 at 2:28 pm #1607370Ings cant play? didn’t think we registered him.
March 5, 2018 at 2:38 pm #1607375he must have been registered instead of Sturridge in January
