This is a big match for us. Looking at how they played against stoke their set pieces look dangerous. They have big and tall players that can bully us.I’m just worried we can’t deal with set pieces that you can see through this season. Finger cross, hope we can win this match.
October 3, 2016 at 8:22 am #1252860set pieces? Have u seen rooneys corners?
October 3, 2016 at 8:22 am #1252863This is gonna be a tough game. They are very dangerous at pieces and high balls while we’re one of the worse in the league at defending them.
October 3, 2016 at 8:30 am #1252881Have u seen united this year? we have been average.
October 3, 2016 at 9:05 am #1252926I’m very confident about this one this year. I really think we have enough to beat them (mind you,we battered them last year, and they somehow sneaked a 1-0 win – I think it’ll be different this time though). Obviously we have to hope that everyone comes back from these fucking internationals injury free, but if they do,I think we will win this.
United, for all their big name signings, new manager etc, haven’t impressed me one bit. They’re no better than they were under van Gaal. They couldn’t even beat the worst team in the league at home after going 1-0 up. I imagine Mourinho will play Fellaini,to try to stop us playing our game. Good luck with that by the way. I’m going for 3-1
October 3, 2016 at 9:59 am #1253079I don’t see why we can’t rip these apart at Anfield.
My only concern is crosses, corners, set pieces into the likes of Ibra etc.
Our defending from set pieces is poor.October 3, 2016 at 12:06 pm #1253304ST, we’re the form team and probably deserved favourites against manu at Anfield. But as we saw last year (when Rooney scored from a corner) our weakness is defending set pieces, crosses n high balls. Swansea shouldve scored two headers in the first half alone yesterday. And This manu team is very good in the air
October 3, 2016 at 12:23 pm #1253334Before we get too caught up in the score-line, we should probably check with FSG to make sure that the match is even financially feasible first.
October 3, 2016 at 6:44 pm #1253811So…if united strength and our weakness is set plays and long balls…do we think Karius or Mignolet will play? Karius has played a few games now, and he definitely deserves his chance to prove himself…but he has seemed far less confident and assured than mignolet with these types of balls into the box and maybe we could do with Migs returning and being slightly more aggressive…?
The game could very well make or break Karius (bit over the top…but a good performance would see him probably stay number one whereas a stinker of a game may see his confidence battered and back to bench duty?)
October 3, 2016 at 8:07 pm #1253853Not confident at all. They have height and power and if Swansea had Zlat on Saturday we would have been beaten by halftime.
October 3, 2016 at 9:16 pm #1253871Utd are boring and static, we will run riot around them with our fast paced attack.
October 3, 2016 at 9:34 pm #1253877At present Mignolet is a better keeper and deserves a vote of confidence after Saturday’s very uncertain display on crosses and attempted clearances.
October 3, 2016 at 9:45 pm #1253889I suspect Mourinho will play on Liverpool’s difficulty in defending set pieces and crosses and in Ibrahimovic they have the perfect player to take advantage of that if Liverpool can overcome that they are attack wise and confidence wise in a better place right now than United. Should be a cracker.
October 3, 2016 at 9:51 pm #1253895I thought Mignolet was performing well but there is not much difference between them. Of course Mignolet knows the defense better but Karius has better distribution and I think he can become more commanding in the box. Who ever gets to play I´ll be right behind him.
October 3, 2016 at 10:25 pm #1253910Clyne’s injured at the mo and Lovren’s in doubt. Good job it’s still 2 weeks away.
Hit on the nail in relation to set pieces; also goals given away from misjudgement when dealing with ariel delivery. We’ve stuffed up a lot like this in the past on the head-to-heads.
Plus, players like Ibrahimovic, Mata, Martial, and Rashford don’t need second invitations – even Rooney is going to be up for it. I don’t know whether Jose will bring the red bus and use his manipulative ways to stiffle our flow and try and tire us out, then bring on his super-subs to steal the game late on.
The good news so far is that we have a 100% record and we have a newly renovated stand. We are due a win over the Red Devils and every player must bring their ‘A’ game.
It’s on a Monday night which I’m pleased about and not that same old 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon so it’s definitely going to be lively and whenever United will have possession, our fans will boo them and make it an uncomfortable environment for them.
I can a penalty given in favour us either to break the deadlock or Gini or Coutinho special outside the box. If we do turn up, with the right teamsheet and tacticts, then I’m going to go for a 3-1.
October 3, 2016 at 11:59 pm #1253928I think Mourinho knows if they try and play good football that they are likely going to lose. Even though it’s Man Utd, I think we’ll see the bus and the counter/aerial/set-piece threat, which shouldn’t be under-rated.
I’m only as worried as I ever am with a Utd match, I think they’ll be much more afraid of us TBH (and rightly so).
As for who will be in goal, it’ll without a doubt be Karius. Klopp didn’t put him into the team without thinking about this fixture and to give him only 2 games would be very counter-productive.
I’m also delighted that it’s on a Monday night, it’ll feel a little like a European night in ways, it’ll be dark enough by then with the lights on full. I think the thought will sub-consciously be in the fans minds and that it’ll add to the already charged atmosphere.
Fortress Anfield lads!
October 4, 2016 at 12:01 am #1253931999 – Care to make a prediction on the score?
I find it very hard to think what it might be because it could go either way but given that it’s us at home during a time that we’re playing some excellent football with confidence being up etc etc. .
3-1 to us with Utd scoring first.
October 4, 2016 at 6:38 am #1253958We need to stay focus on this game. Hope the lads can deal with their long ball.
October 4, 2016 at 9:04 am #1254075the last two league games at home againest utd , we went in as favourites and lost. No doubt this is going to be a very difficult game. Our defending from balls into the box is terrible. We conceded 3 huge chances to swansea on sat when the simply put the ball intot he box and a man got between two of our players on 3 occasions. How can that happen time anbd time again? Lovren and matip are good players but its terrible defending.
KArius should have collected an easy cross as well. We were excellent in the 2nd half on sat but if swansea had loriente we might well have lost. How come we are still so poor at high balls into the box?If we could defend then we really would be some team. we have let 10 goals in already. Its terrible. We are so good going forward but places may come down to goal difference. We need to start keeping cleans sheets. i can see utd goiong a bit longer then they usuaully do, to by pass our opess. Be no suprise i felliani starts. Utd games always worry me especially when people expect us to win
October 4, 2016 at 9:19 am #1254087Gotta agree with Mr Mak. I think Mourinho will park the bus and then hit us on the break or try to nick one through a corner/set piece.
Don’t think they’ll come out at all to try to play.
This is why keeping clean sheets are so important, you can always come away with something if you don’t concede. -
