Liverpool sold Coutinho for £142m.
And then bought:
Nabil Fekir: £52.8m
Naby Keita: £52m
Fabinho: £43m
Total: £148.5mWe’ve basically sold Coutinho and got a much upgraded midfield of 3 top players for only £6.5m!!!
Give Michael Edwards an award for this
June 7, 2018 at 10:26 pm #1645594Lol love it!
June 7, 2018 at 11:18 pm #1645599Less than 12 months ago Andy Carroll was our record signing!
June 7, 2018 at 11:43 pm #1645601Apparently FSG are only here to suck all the money out of the club.
Seem to be really going about it the wrong way.
June 8, 2018 at 12:10 am #1645603Nothing confirmed yet
June 8, 2018 at 12:19 am #1645604Indeed Ginger. Where’s all the anti Fenway bellends gone?
June 8, 2018 at 12:27 am #1645607Lets not turn this into anti fsg or not, for me its about waiting for the right targets instead of wasting 75m on Mahrez or 90 million on Lemar in the January window.
Keita, Fabinho and Fekir as addition to Jordan, James, Adam and Georginio could prove to be a pretty devastating midfield if you ask me.
June 8, 2018 at 12:30 am #1645608If we get Shaqiri I think that maybe be the last player we sign for both attack and midfield. There’s talk of this Moses guy too but I think it would be Shaqiri or Moses.
Then we can start getting the new GK and selling off players.
June 8, 2018 at 7:48 am #1645637bingo, thatsw it mate. Its not done yet so lets wait and see.
im concerned klopp only has about 4 years left with us. I just really enjoy watching us play. we play to win every game and attack no matter who it is.
we are building a very strong team. ill never get carried away but even ill be excited of we sign fekir. Just hope we can get it finailised
June 8, 2018 at 7:50 am #1645638Shaqiri and Moses would only cost circa £22mil.
Hardly breaking the bank.June 8, 2018 at 8:07 am #1645641Telegraph via the echo saying that whilst shaqiri is being monitored Klopp is concerned it will push Wilson down the pecking order. Be interesting to see how this develops.
June 8, 2018 at 7:30 pm #1645952Threeps – If Wilson is good enough then promote him, I’ve seen a few lukewarm responses on here and other forums towards Shaqiri, in terms of his work rate, but to me, I think Klopp will do what he has done for other players which is get them to work harder. As for Wilson send him to Gerrard at least we can count on a good line of communication with Gerrard at Rangers….Also, Shaqiri has it in him to work hard, I think he was Stoke top scorer and im sure his motivation levels will go up as this would probably represent his last big chance to do well. I think its a clever low risk buy as others have mentioned.

Maybe this is aimed in my direction. I’ll say that from the start and throughout most of their time here, I’ve been very pro FSG. I fell out with them hard during the seat pricing scheme times. I also grew impatient with their (and Klopps) transfer delays of the past.
For every bad remark I’ve made about them, you’ll find 4 positive ones.
I’m not only grateful that they saved us from H&G. They didn’t do it out of charity, they are making incredible returns on their investment.. but who expects charity. This is a business and it’s absolutely thriving.
They have given us a fantastic new stand to keep us current…
I will say one thing though that makes the biggest difference for me and that is that even though they werent football guys when they arrived, they somehow worked their way to the knowledge that Klopp was the best man for their philosophy, for spirit of the club.. but also , the best man we could possibly have ever hoped to get in our wildest dreams.
They really went for Klopp. They pay him an absolute fortune but isn’t he worth it? he’s probably tacked on £500m in value in the few years he’s been here.
So I guess what I’m saying is that you can fall out with people from time to time but it doesn’t mean that you’re not friends.
June 8, 2018 at 11:14 pm #1645968Maybe it’s not.
June 9, 2018 at 12:42 am #1645972I’m with Mak on this one. Always been behind them. Some of their decisions regarding the squad weren’t great but off the pitch they modernised the club and gave us a bigger stadium. The dealings are a lot more shrewd now which shows that they’ve learned from the mistakes.
June 9, 2018 at 2:30 am #1645974Maybe I am one of the so called anti-FSG poster. I criticized them because of their failure and determination to keep our best players, because of their insistence of valuation of a player thus losing the player finally. I criticized them because I am a supporter of Liverpool, just like a lot of our fans criticizing our players/managers etc. I can’t careless about the owner, manager and players of other teams.
Luckily FSG understood that now it is a good time for us to spend big because nearly all top class players are willing to join us. Once we can afford the transfer fee and fulfill their wages demand, we can have our top target player. It has not happened for quite a long time.
June 9, 2018 at 3:53 am #1645978I think FSG have genuinely tried to do the best for the club, as others have mentioned they didn’t come with a first class knowledge in football but they have worked hard to try and understand and evolve. We went through Hodgson, Kenny, Brendan and Rogers before getting Klopp. I think they really understood the club when they identified and went for Klopp. Now there’s no looking back, the only thing I worry about is getting Klopp to stay longer than 7 years. Otherwise, I hope Gerrard does well with Rangers in the next two/three years!
June 9, 2018 at 9:32 am #1646024FSG have always tried to do the best for Liverpool FC. Sure, just like any other owners new to football (and to the UK), they have made some mistakes, but they have learnt quickly and are now definitely steering Liverpool in the right direction in all areas.
In fact I would say they are among the best owners in the Premiership, and some clubs would love to have owners like them.
All that unjustified, over the top criticism they were receiving from some fans was total rubbish
June 9, 2018 at 9:47 am #1646032Sean, ‘im concerned klopp only has about 4 years left with us’.
you take worrying to new levels…..😄
Regardless of when, and I’m not worried yet, but when Klopp goes I’m certain he will leave us in a damn sight better place than he found us…..hopefully with a league title and a few cheeky cups too.June 9, 2018 at 9:51 am #1646034Quite right, Klopp has said he will only manage Liverpool for 7 years, although anything could happen to shorten or lengthen that term
