Improved display. You would not think these are the same players that played for Rogers. They seem to have more impetus and want to play. Well done Jurgen for getting them playing. Hope we can now build on this ans progress more when the injured players return.
November 1, 2015 at 12:42 pm #689845We should not underestimate the sense of self belief and confidence this result and performance will give the players not just in their own ability but in the talent of their manager too.
This was a team that had been really struggling for year for good performances and goals then yesterday they travel to the champions, go a goal down and then go on to fight back and comprehensively beat them.
I really hope this is the spark that ignites them and the goals start flowing.
Benteke is now on 4 in 8 in the league and that’s with the disruption of niggly injuries thrown in too.November 1, 2015 at 1:23 pm #689908I said we had to go all out to get benteke in the summer. 40 odd goals for villa in 80 odd games was a great record considering how poor villa were. He won everything in the air yday and the ball stuck to him when played on the ground. He has a powerful shot. Add Sturridge to the mix and we can really start scoring again
November 1, 2015 at 3:25 pm #690187Great performance yesterday against an out of sorts Chav$ki, I must admit when we went behind I didn’t foresee us playing as well as we eventually did but fair play to Klopp and the squad, early days I know and I’m not getting carried away but I think we might be seeing the start of something good. November 1, 2015 at 6:29 pm #690529Great three points, really good to get the win against our rivals. Could be a season turnaround in form. This gets us in the top half, now we just need to improve our home form and we could be in for a interesting season.
I didnt peg us for the 4th this season, thought we would get 5th at best but with us cementing Chelsea into the bottom half we got a opening.November 1, 2015 at 8:40 pm #690649Best win for quite some time in terms of a league game; genuinely convincing too.
People go on about an inform Chelsea, but this is coming from a goal down to win beyond our wildest dreams when majority in reality against the current situation would have at best taken a draw before a ball would even be kicked.
Thank our lucky stars, but a huge credit to the players.
November 1, 2015 at 8:52 pm #690655I think some perspective is needed. We draw next week to palace and people be getting down Agsin. We are very much a work in progress. The last two games there is no doubt we looked better. We still have Henderson and Sturridge to come back aswell. We need to just relax and if we drop points next week bit to get too down about it.
Just need to keep improving. The home form has to improve. Keep playets fit and who knows what will happen. 5 points from 9 is a good start considering it was againest 3 good teams
November 1, 2015 at 9:13 pm #690679No harm in excitement and rightly so.
If you can’t take gratitude from this, then what’s the point?
Getting a little carried away suits me to the ground.
November 1, 2015 at 10:06 pm #690721No I understand that. I really enjoyed the win yday. I’m just been cautious as usual mate. I’ll never get carried away until I believe we have really turned a corner abd that’s by getting cl football on a consistent basis and winning trophies.
No reason why we can’t go to Southampton and beat them in the carling cup. We should have our eyes on that cup. The first trophy is always the most difficult to deliver.
November 1, 2015 at 10:13 pm #690739Yeah, fair points mate. I really wish we can go on and win a trophy as going into 2016 would make it 4 years since winning the last one under Kenny; a bit scary how time goes so quick – 4 years!
November 2, 2015 at 11:58 am #691255Sean – Completely agree, it was a good game and thoroughly enjoyed it, but lets not get carried away, some of our fans seem to be a bit football bi-polar, we are the best team in the world one week and the worst team in the world the next, lets have a bit more of a consistent view of the team, there is a way to go, but getting behind them through thick and thin is the best way to go.
November 2, 2015 at 12:57 pm #691369ye spot on Pax,if we draw on Sunday then fine. We really are a work in progress and we cant get down if results dont go our away over the next few months.
you even had some people questioning Klopp after we drew with Southmapton. It was ridiculous
November 2, 2015 at 1:10 pm #691402It’s not so much ‘drawing’ a game, but it’s the performances and the initial tactics in which Rodgers struggled with.
Obviously the parallels in defence-and-attack meant that opposition teams already had that head-start and could easily draw a blank with us.
A classic example was the Southampton game because of the lack of firepower/goals, and how we are still conceding that the back.
I genuinely expect Palace to go at us. We’ve just got to go with the flow and press more on the counter because I’m sure they’ll be well set out and have men behind the ball to try an frustrate us, early doors.
November 2, 2015 at 1:17 pm #691420Great result and a big step in the right direction. However, let’s not get too carried away, because our 4 Premier League victories this season have all been against relegation candidates.
November 2, 2015 at 1:52 pm #691477Red Herring – wouldn’t that be great if Chelski really were relegation candidates?!
November 2, 2015 at 2:03 pm #691501Hightown>> Well, as of the beginning of November – they well and truly are – how else can you gauge relegation candidates apart from league table position which is a direct reflection of performance over the current season?. To be honest, their current position is probably a bit too high on the basis that they have only played one tough (as in against a “top” club) away game = Man City.
November 2, 2015 at 3:43 pm #691693Red herring – you’re right, their league position says they are relegation candidates, but I’m afraid we all know they won’t be relegated. There are at least 3 worse teams in the league than them like Sunderland, Villa and Bournemouth…and Newcastle. And anyway, great things like a Chelsea relegation just don’t happen, do they?
November 2, 2015 at 5:01 pm #691825You are right in your assesment but optimisic. Chelsea still have a good squad and they can get a manager in to turn things round quickly. I think JM will turn it round if he stays. You have to admit its great for football when you see the champions struggling it makes it a bit more interesting, dont you think?
November 3, 2015 at 11:08 am #692499All this talk of Chelsea relegation is unrealistic, they will still push for a Europa place, and possibly 4th, they have to good a squad not to. I know teams have gone down before when [people said they were to good to go down, Forest etc, but these were genuine mid table team, not genuine top 4 teams, so it is a bit different.
November 5, 2015 at 12:14 pm #694998Not sure what to make of taking such a strong squad to Russia. I’d have thought the Palace game would be a must win so I hope we don’t get any injuries or our main men don’t die in the bum half way through the Palace game due to fatigue.
