Yep, both Dalot and AWB made mistakes because neither are left backs and they’re both pretty shit happy. But, in the round, Dalot seems the better at left back.

Malacia is Championship standard at best, plus he’s right up Gashy’s arse as well, so he must be a proper bellend. It’s one thing Ten Bob signing up all these duds from the Dutch League, but why in fucks name did he not seemingly know anything about Micky van de Ven from when he was playing for FC Volendam?
Fact is, the guy can’t spot a good player from a bad one and that’s why he will never be a top manager.

What do you think of the young CB yesterday?

Should have played Antony at left back, I’ve heard he works hard enough!

ETH should have loaned a LB during the Jan window.

Then again what does he know. We’ve won 1 in 5 and deluded fucker thinks we are making progress.

Some interesting insights on MOTD2 about how we’re set up and why we’re so open. It got me thinking as to why we’re conceding 30 shots a game.
Basically Casemiro and Mainoo are pushing up to press and when we lose the ball the space in behind them is there because Maguire is slow. So Liverpool, for example, can get away with it because they have VVD on the halfway line. He’s quick and one of the best around so can handle a counter attack if it happens. So he pushes up when his midfield press in the final third and that compresses the space between him and his midfielders – it also reduces the actual space on the pitch between the lines if players.
Whereas we have Maguire who’s biggest fear is a ball over the top and 99% of players in the Premier League simply jogging past him. So he never does what VVD does, he never happily compresses that space in midfield so when Mainoo and Casemiro go forward to press he leaves massive space ahead of him and they leave massive space behind them.
Also, and this used to really fuck me off in 5-aside, Bruno takes himself out of the game by pressing the goal keeper. I remember screaming from the back “don’t mark the goal keeper” when our fat lazy forward would simply try to block the goal keeper taking his goal kick/throw. So when 10 times out of 10 the goal keeper just passed it out to the other side and the striker is now completely out of the game, behind the play – we were then faced with 4 outfield players against 3. So fucking frustrating and basic!

It happens so frequently to United, well about 30 times a game as it turns out!!!
The opposition fullback has the ball and Bruno closes him down the fullback passes back to the keeper. Then Bruno charges for the keeper totally breaking the shape of the team – then the keeper just passes it either back to the fullback or switches it to the other fullback. Bruno is now totally out of the game and we are faced with 10 outfield players against 9. It’s so basic it must be infuriating. That’s why Neville was saying you don’t see that even at schoolboy level. How many times do we see the entire team having to sprint back because there’s so much space – it’s madness.

So what the fuck is actually happening on the training pitch? Surely ETH is showing them videos and saying “Don’t fucking press the goal keeper” and “don’t leave this much fucking space in the middle of the pitch”. These are the basics of the game.
    Why isn’t it being addressed?

    @Happy-finally off the booze?
Quite right. Our captain is waving to Mainoo and Casemiro to press high but somehow Bruno dont remember the former captains leadboots, the most vulnerable cb in PL playing a high line.

i said when ETH was about to be our new manager that he will drop Maguire if he is about playing to his philosophy. Now,its a mismatch of everything. Doesn´t ETH have the balls to grab and scream in Nosferatu´s ears that you dont press high with Maguire as CB?
Who is the boss at Man United? We cant have Nosferatu on amphetamin as captain and please hire Usian Bolt as Frankenstein´s personal trainer so at least he can run 100 meters in 15 seconds. What a fucking Mickey Mouse football club.

You’ve conveniently left out the part of MOTD 2 where they say that our players lack desire and heart.
Also the part where our dickhead manager doesn’t drop players who don’t play the way he wants. There’s no consequences and no accountability.

Zico – Yep, moment of clarity mate!!! 🙂

Killy – To be honest i think i’d switched off by that point! I’m not sure about that though. When i see Gernacho running all i see is desire and heart, certainly when he’s running forward anyway. Let’s see what happens this summer but for all his faults ETH at least is bringing through a very young team. Kambwala, Mainoo, Gernacho and Hojlund are all babies. We need to keep that focus and move away from the Casemiro and Varane deals – i think that will be the plan this summer.

Garnacho runs but he’s one of the few. Rashford would barely have played this season if there were consequences for not working hard.

@happy – You should have taken more note of my post from a few weeks ago mate where I highlighted the craziness of Ten Bob’ ridiculous ‘tactic’ of players pressing high whilst at the same time keeping a low defensive block, hence the Grand Canyon sized gap between our defense and the rest of the team.
This is just fundamental basics that a 12 year old manager wouldn’t put up with, but this clown is either completely incapable or totally unwilling to find a solution, that’s just one of the many reasons why he has to go.

True happy but a few of us having been saying that for over a year. Its basic stuff really, if the striker and midfielders press high up. Back line has to be higher in order to stop the counter and compress the play. If Maguire drops then the other 3 defenders have no choice but to drop with him. A decision has to be made, if the midfield presses high then the press has to be effected and all 4 defenders have to push up the pitch. If even one defender in the back 4 doesn’t have the confidence to push and press near halfway. Then we should forget the high press and just drop back after we lose the ball and try being compact.

We haven’t pressed properly ever that I can see to be honest. It’s not just Maguire’s fault. Even if we did press high up when we’re in possession, as soon as we lose it we’d need our attackers to track back and allow a smooth ‘transition’ in both directions but that doesn’t happen properly. Even Garnacho, who runs and runs, doesn’t always track back so blaming it all on Maguire is simplifying the problem, I’m not saying he’s not a major issue, I’m just saying there are other major issues as well.

Blacky – How on earth is that not being addressed as top priority right now though? Surely Erik knows the issue, he’s not a fucking idiot – he’s had some very good success in his career. It must be the players not listening to him, surely?
I remember last season when we got hammered by Brentford he said he told De Gea and the defenders to play long because Brentford press high. But they spent the whole afternoon trying to play out from the back. Something isn’t right. There’s no way he’s saying press forward whenever and however you like and don’t worry about the spaces you’re leaving?!

At this rate Sir Jim will be in the dressing room next week with a fucking whiteboard and a massive red pen!!

@happy – Because he’s a totally deluded fucking crackpot mate, any player who refuse to comply with his demands should not be in the team, so either way its squarely down to him. I actually think that all those years living in Amsterdam with the continuous waft of ‘African Woodbines’ drifting up his nostrils has completely addled his fucking brain to the extent that he hasn’t got a Scooby what’s actually going on most of the time, simple as that.

I think what made liverpool and city so good for those 2 or 3 seasons was the pressure football. they didn’t give people time to breathe. they swarmed. that’s why they just aren’t as good anymore. we like to sit back, make that recline back in a nice deck chair with a cold drink. there’s no effort and there’s a distinct lack of ability. both can be worked at on the training ground. which is why I have for many years stated on here: what the hell are they doing in training? and that’s not just with ETH. I’d say that was the case with every single manager post-fergie.

Sometimes he does, never to be seen again. By the times he’s back in the box it’s a kick off. You can’t blame him he is doing all he can. Blame the wanksters that bought him for a world record fee.

Zico, as much as we have slated Maguire. Unless others in our side I think he genuinely cares about the club and does give it his all. Sadly he’s not good enough but he isn’t a cunt behaviour wise like some of the cunts in our side.

Not United material though and you don’t win titles with him that’s for sure. Despite doing his all, his wavering with his arms looking like someone stolen his Saturday candy he came across like a little prick to me. Not the least when it’s going tough for him he is off to mommy. Get rid and buy some proper cb with speed for fuck sake.
