I imagine a whole host of changes here to give the majority of our first teasers much needed rest after a hectic Xmas period. While I want to win this I’m not gonna get too cut up over it as the league and CL is the priority and we need to give lads a rest. Because it’s against Everton there’s that little bit of extra edge to it. Very difficult to predict an exact team but can see the likes of Adrian, Philips, Williams, Jones, Lallana, Origi, Elliot, Minamino all starting.
I’m not sure who’s gonna play leftback, centreback and midfield, perhaps we’ll see Milner in there somewhere.January 3, 2020 at 12:06 pm #1813057Possibly a team like the following?
Adrian
Williams Gomez Phillips Milner
Wijnaldum Lallana Jones
Minamino Origi ElliottWhile the competition is not important for us this season (due to the PL pursuit and numerous injuries) the boys will raise their game cause it’s Everton, and at Anfield
January 3, 2020 at 12:13 pm #1813059Could very well be something like that Songman.
January 3, 2020 at 12:56 pm #1813071I’d go with something like that songman
Maybe rest Winji aswell?
January 3, 2020 at 1:33 pm #1813078Who would you play instead of Gini?
January 3, 2020 at 1:42 pm #1813081That’s the thing songman, I don’t know but he needs a rest ???
Keita is our now so we have 4 midfielders really now
January 3, 2020 at 1:49 pm #1813085Ok, then Chirivella might do, after all he’s not a junior player anymore
January 3, 2020 at 3:34 pm #1813127I have a feeling now we’re gonna go stronger than I initially thought.
One of Gini/Hendo will start.
Both Gomez and VVD will start.
Might see Brewster instead of Elliot, not sure that makes us stronger per se.January 3, 2020 at 4:38 pm #1813139Isn’t Brewster injured? Can’t see Klopp risking any senior players for this and he’s pretty much already said as much. Also if we have to play a replay in the 4th round or something, it would clash with our mid-season break and Klopp sure as hell doesn’t want that. Personally I don’t think he could care less about the FA cup at this current time and neither can I. Read somewhere that we only have 13 senior players available right now. Given that we haven’t had time to train before matches Klopp would probably use this time to give the players a rest and get some training done over the week before the far more important Spurs game. Tough run of games as well so this could be our best chance at freshening some tired legs before the break.
January 3, 2020 at 4:57 pm #1813145Brewster is no longer injured and is very likely to go out on loan to Swansea but the club has confirmed he’ll not leave until after FA Cup commitments this month.
Having VVD start is the only difference really from Songmans very realistic prediction of our starting XI.
We had 4 days between our last 2 league games which is more than most but we’ll have only 3 days between our last game and the Everton game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gomez and VVD start this game unless of course Matip/Fabinho are closer to return than we think.
January 4, 2020 at 12:03 am #1813214I’ve heard that Van Dijk is starting. I hope it’s not true if I’m honest. The guy needs a rest surely by now?
I’m torn about this match though. We’re after a very difficult period of fixture congestion. I think we’re risking injuries to key players with this game, especially being a derby.
I hope we at least rest a few.
January 4, 2020 at 12:04 pm #1813280It’s Everton but we really need to rest players. It’s a massive game for the city but the fans totally understand the league takes min priority
Great shout about Chirivella who was very good At villa
Our key players need a rest but klopp knows best
January 4, 2020 at 1:28 pm #1813312Almost 2 years to the day since we last played Everton in the FA Cup (third round too) which ended with a Virgil van Dijk debut winning goal. Milner had put us one up from the spot, Sigurdsson equalized before big Virg’s winner. Starting XI that day:
Karius, Gomez, van Dijk, Matip, Robbo, Milner, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Can, Firmino and Mane.
Our starting XI for this will likely not include Can (good!) and Karius (good!) but could include Lallana, Milner, Bobby, Mane, Gomez, Robbo, VVD.
Elliott will start and likely Henderson seeing as we have zero other mids available. The Sheff U game and this would have been a perfect double home game opportunity for Naby but hey ho, injured yet again. Unbelievable.
Ancelotti and his bluenose army will be up for this and have played much better since the James Bond looking villain took charge and expect this game to go very close.
For me it’s either a narrow 1-0 win for us or a 1-1 and a very unwelcome replay.
January 4, 2020 at 1:31 pm #1813314Very frustrating about Keita rob
Every time it seems he is really getting going, he gets injured.
January 4, 2020 at 3:08 pm #1813346Keita has been doing good, no need to worry about a small knock, I doubt he will lose much match fitness either.
I do wonder if the reserves can take this game, we had a nice cup game against Arsenal earlier in the season right, the reserves played there and they could pull of a upset again.
I got to give the odds to the blues as they are likely to have their strongest team but what a punch to the gut it would be to knock them out with our reserve lineup.
January 5, 2020 at 6:33 am #1813488It will be interesting to see where Minamino plays. I’m wondering if he might even be being groomed for the striker role.
Not expecting a lot from this game though. They’ll probably be taking it a lot more seriously than we will.
January 5, 2020 at 1:43 pm #1813570NB. Keita’s ‘small knock’ is a groin strain which could be a few games out.
January 5, 2020 at 2:03 pm #1813580Bingo It’s concerning if Keita is out for a few weeks as it sets him back again
This team should be a mixture of youth and experience
Lalanna, origi, Adrian, Milner all starting
Elliot, Williams , Jones etc with some of the 1st team
On the benchJanuary 5, 2020 at 2:05 pm #1813582Sean, Elliott highly likely to start in Mo’s spot. Williams also could come in alongside VVD.
January 5, 2020 at 2:47 pm #1813594Is Williams not a right back rob?
I’ll be surprised if vvd starts but then again him or Gomez have to beside Philips ??
