Mane out again, jeez we went well with him out last season didn’t we. What will Klopp do then, will he change it up since we are so ineffective without Mane, try a different approach, maybe play with a DM or 2 strikers & change formation. We will set up differently. Not a bloody chance. I’ll just hazard a guess & say Ox will take a starting spot, he might shuffle players into different positions but ultimately Klopp will just push forward with our 1 & only style of play & strike me f’ing pink we will get another bad result. They will sit back, absorb our huffing & puffing & punish the inevitable mistakes our car crash D offer up.
Bob me old mate, I’m more chance of a 1 night stand with the new Miss Universe than we are of winning this game.October 11, 2017 at 9:20 am #1543201I agree Aussie, it be all huff and puff from us with no end product. I can see Utd going 3-5-2. Say what you want about Jose but he is tactically brilliant in these games. Any chance we get, we have to take as we won’t get many.
My positivity has changed big time. Usually when we start the season slowly, it continues through the season. We will have a good run of form but it be to late. We really had a chance to push on this season but as 02,09, 14, we are going backwards.
We can’t expect to much from firmino and couthino. The only player who is real good form is couthino. Utd have a whole team in form.
Utd to win 1-0. Just can’t see us getting anything. Mane is a massive loss. Really typical of our luck
October 11, 2017 at 9:23 am #1543203Lol Aussie!
If we don’t at least get a draw I will go missing from this site for a while 😉 but still believe we will. We started the season well but had a significant blip was has affected our confidence. Sooner or later it’s going to come together and we will spank a team (whilst I can’t see us spanking Utd obviously – it will be a tough game). I still believe in the players overall thou as always concede we are weak defensively and need improvements from our midfield.
October 11, 2017 at 9:28 am #1543206Sean is it tactically ‘brilliant’ or has he just bought very wisely addrsssing key issues from last year. Don’t get me wrong he is tactically good but so are half a dozen other teams who have played deep and hit us on the break.
The question is can Klopp do anything to counter that or it just going to be a case of let’s play our game and try and ‘blow them away’.
October 11, 2017 at 12:59 pm #1543333It’ll be interesting to see what formation we go in Mane’s absense
October 11, 2017 at 1:11 pm #15433363-1 to the Salford Rags.
October 11, 2017 at 1:49 pm #1543361be nice to see klopp try something different like he did at old tarford last year bob but i expect him to go 4-3-3 again and utd 3-5-2.
there is no beter defensive manager in the world then jose if we are being honest
October 11, 2017 at 1:57 pm #1543367Looking forward to this game.
Both club’s are missing key players and it might come down to who can overcome the missing players the best.
Two of United’s strengths are their pace and the physicality of Lukaku if Liverpool can deal with both defensively they’ve got a real chance of winning the game even without Mane.
The key to a Liverpool win is defending which will mean defending probably better than they have all season to date and taking their chances when they come along.
A United win especially a good United win will put even more pressure on Klopp but a Liverpool win could be the catalyst to the beginning of a winning run increased confidence and climbing up the table.
Fascinating.
October 11, 2017 at 3:25 pm #1543404Sean, I’d be shocked to see Mourinho play anything but a 4231 especially away from home. He’ll likely bring in Herrera alongside Matic with Mata, Mik and Rashford/Martial in front and then Lukaku as the 9. Mourinho likes 5 in mid with extra support on the flanks by his fulls, likely Valencia and Young. His converted full backs should be our targets Saturday as well as trying to pull Matic out of his comfort zone. If we do this we’ve a chance. Need BIG performances from the likes of Can, Henderson, Wij and Firmino with Matip of Lovren making sure they cover Lukaku like did against Everton in both games last season. Still going for 1-1 (Mata and Bobby).
October 11, 2017 at 3:45 pm #1543418I can see nothing to suggest a win for us.
Our best hope is for the ref to send one of them off and give a peno.October 11, 2017 at 4:22 pm #1543429i cant see jose setting up that attacking rob. if not 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 then he will drop mata and bring in an extra player into midfield
ginger, its the only way i can see a win aswell but atkinson is the ref so we will probs get someone sent off lol
October 11, 2017 at 4:41 pm #1543433I don’t know Sean because Mourinho put out a decent side against us at Anfield last season in a 4231 with Rashford and Young on the flanks and Fellaini, Herrera and Pogba in the middle and Ibra up front. He’ll want certainly a back four to counter Salah and whoever plays left attack (Coutinho I think or Bobby and keep Phil in the middle). Mourinho won’t want to lose it and won’t want to chance three centre backs but who knows?
October 11, 2017 at 4:56 pm #1543436I think Klopp should take a leaf out of Jose’s book and go with six at the back like the diminutive one did last season at Anfield. Play 3 in midfield and one up front and play for the draw. Jose did it last season and was declared a tactical genius.
October 11, 2017 at 5:05 pm #1543441rob, ye i see what your saying. When jos eplays 4-2-3-1 in thgese gams its 6-3-1 without the ball. The two full backs tuck in beisfde the centre backs nad thew wide men play as full backs. you might be right
i think couthino will play and we will go with winji.hendo and can in midfield unless he gives milner a game as he is fresh. I cant see ox starting in mdifield
October 11, 2017 at 5:25 pm #1543444Good assessment Nine! It’s important not to stick Coutinho in midfield, Id much prefer to see him terrorising on the wide putting their defenders under pressure. If we leave Couts in midfield I fear they will just man mark him out of the game with Herria. Let Ox, Can and Henderson get stuck in them in midfield.
October 11, 2017 at 9:17 pm #1543493Sean & shanksy-I can see nothing but a boring draw,with Jose going 5 in midfield,gone for a 1-1,fully expecting it to be 0-0!
October 11, 2017 at 9:21 pm #1543496mwake-I agree completely.I would put Ox,Hendo, and Wijnaldum in the middle, with Salah and Coutinho on the wings. As a United fan that would terrify me!
October 12, 2017 at 2:58 am #1543514My heart is hoping for at least a draw but im prepare for a thrashing from them, 1-3. Sadly there is nothing fans can do given the situation that we are in but only to moan on forums and social media. FSG is here to stay and uncertainty whether Klopp would learn from his mistakes and stop being stubborn remains to be seen. Tough times.
October 12, 2017 at 8:12 am #1543539mwake, morning mate, hear what you’re saying about Coutinho and out wide for this game at least especially with no Mane might be better all round.
I’ve got a sneaky feeling for a 2-2 draw Liverpool will play to a higher level v United and will create a lot of chances my fear for Liverpool is that the defence may struggle against United’s pace and the power of Lukaku hence my 2-2. But what do I know.😊 Cheers 999
October 12, 2017 at 2:56 pm #1543752Jose will set up to nullify what threat we have left which is Salah and Couts. He man marked Couts out of the game last season and will find a similar solution to Mo. The difference this season is the diminutive one has solved his problems from last season and Utd won’t have to come and park the bus like last year. They just need to soak up our frantic first half hour which will be made a lot easier given our woeful finishing this season and then take the game. After we waste what few chances we get Lukaku and co will show our lot how to be clinical in front of goal. As I’ve said a two or three goal winning margin for the Salford Rags is all I can see. Hopefully not a battering like at City but I wouldn’t even rule that out. All I can see is Moreno and Lovren looking like rabbits in headlights. Not good peeps. So hope I’m wrong.
