Great to see the u23s get a good win today.
Gomez played. This is the only place I can see him getting games for the rest of the season. For most of them in fact.February 12, 2017 at 10:39 pm #1434387I appreciate the vote of confidence lads but I’d be worried that since I can get stuck into arguments and am not the most patient that I might not be the best candidate. If nobody takes the 2nd slot as mod I’ll do it. I am kinda going off the assumption that Hightown is taking the first, he seems to be the one backed most on here. There are some others though too.
February 12, 2017 at 10:41 pm #1434388I hope Gomez gets a few starts in a row for us before the season is over.
February 12, 2017 at 11:08 pm #1434395I will be extremely surprised if Gomez now gets a start in the first team between now and the end of the season.
February 13, 2017 at 1:47 am #1434405I would too given how well Lucas played. TBH He is a better CB than people give him credit for. . also Milner is a good case too regards LB. People write players off way too fast because of the change in position when it isnt that simple.
i think Gomez will go on to be a star for Liverpool. Put me on record for it. I agree though in that he wont get many chances . His day will come though!
It took Carra years to get going. We had loads of Liverpool fans wanting him to be sold, i remember t all. I thought he needed more time and look how he turned out? Champions League winner Carra to you lads.
Ha not to you lads but you know what I mean.
February 13, 2017 at 1:50 am #1434406I should have had some of the above in quotes for clarity.
February 13, 2017 at 8:00 am #1434449It is always a better Monday morning when LFC have had a good win on the weekend
What happened to spurs defence a high line vs MANE! are you mad!
Really enjoyed Gini`s performance
We played well but it felt like a no contest
February 13, 2017 at 8:09 am #1434457Mr Mak@10:39pm Mr Mak, you are strong and fair minded and just what this site needs if it goes with a Moderator strategy.
February 13, 2017 at 8:36 am #1434479Mr Mak! You do seem like quite a level headed person and the fact that you can acknowledge your own faults makes you quite mature.
February 13, 2017 at 12:07 pm #1434633Ya? Well you wont be saying that when the first thing I do is ban you both 😛
February 13, 2017 at 1:18 pm #1434670Lol! 🙂
February 13, 2017 at 1:20 pm #1434672So seemingly Hendo led a players only meeting to make a stop to the slide before the Spurs game. He stood up and spoke passionately about how they need to turn things round. Others talked too but Hendo led the meeting.
I’ve heard (and seen) plenty of others things like this from Hendo.
I always found this “he lacks leadership” stuff bollox.
I guess Rogers, Klopp, Gerrard and other were right about him.
Who’d a thunk!?February 13, 2017 at 1:44 pm #1434678Ginger…Hendo has been a revelation for me this season. When I posted the thread a few months ago about the most improved player over the last year, I mentioned how he has grown in to the leadership role. He does still seem to get a fair bit of stick on here, but certainly not from me anymore.
And his leadership is only part of his improvement. While he is rarely spectacular on the pitch (Chelsea away excepted) he is the engine oil that keeps the motor ticking over. I have been really impressed with him this season…and he’s still carrying this heel injury! Imagine how good he’d be if he was fit!
February 15, 2017 at 7:59 am #1435490As its a bit quite this is worth a read
February 15, 2017 at 9:32 am #1435559Ginger – Totally agree Hendo is far more vocal on the pitch than Gerrard was. When Gerrard was captain people moaned he wasn’t vocal, now Hendo is vocal and people say he lacks leadership. I think too many people make their mind up about a player too early and then refuse to re-assess. I have a mate that was saying Lucas should not be on the pitch during his 2 LFC player of the year seasons, he just couldn’t shift his early view of him even though his game had developed.
February 15, 2017 at 10:03 am #1435591Agree Paxman.
Too many are afraid to admit that their initial assessment of a player may be wrong and would rather stick stubbornly to their fist reactions to a young inexperienced player.February 15, 2017 at 10:17 am #1435599Im not seeing anything new from Henderson, its not just Klopp who Jordan has impressed. Its every manager he has played for. At Sunderland, Liverpool and England.
I remember a incident with him in 2014, his father was ill and at the hospital getting diagnosed with cancer or something.
We had a few big games coming up and Henderson decides to stay at the club, channel his feelings on the ground for us. He won 3 motm ratings in 4 games. He needs to up his game though, he can score more goals and he is capable of more assists.
February 15, 2017 at 11:04 am #1435619NB – Yes I remember when his father was ill, and he still committed to the club. His all round game is fantastic, but I agree he needs to up his goals and assists.
February 15, 2017 at 11:41 am #1435646He prob could score more goals but in the role he’s playing at the minute that could be quite difficult.
I’d rather see us employ more of an out and out defensive midfielder in games and move Hendo slightly further forward to give him more freedom. He’s quite capable of those bursting runs into the box and can certainly strike a ball from the edge of the box.February 15, 2017 at 12:11 pm #1435659Something that I’ve noticed about Wijnaldum is that he looks excellent and plays well when he’s playing in our “star” XI i.e. our first pick team such as on Saturday. However, I’ve been disappointed in him when he’s been put in the “B team” for the various cup games when you expect him to be the stand-out player and be able to <cliche alert> take the game by the scruff of the neck and dominate. In summary, he tends to rise to good occasions but too easily gets dragged down to the level of the lowest common denominator in games where the stardust hasn’t been sprinkled. Anyway, as we’re out of all the cups for this season, I can now put this theory on the back burner until next season.
