This is the perfect game to rest a few of our regulars for the big game on Sunday. But we must respect our opponents, and be on top of our game to win it.
In midfield I would start with Fabinho, Milner and Ox, all of whom are fresh. While in attack I’d go with Origi instead of Salah who seems to be still injured. Plus use the squad giving some time to Gomez, Keita, Lallana etc if things are going well.
A must win game so that we can secure qualification for the next round of the CL, and then focus on tougher challenges aheadNovember 3, 2019 at 1:22 pm #1796410

I’d rest salah and mane. Mane needs a break.
Give Gomez, Keita, milner and one or two others a run.November 3, 2019 at 2:24 pm #1796423
Agree that this is an opportunity to rest a few first team regulars.
Salah should be allowed time to recover from his ankle issues.
Brewster wasn’t in the squad for the u23s yesterday in the mini derby, when I first noticed I was wondering was he going to be on the bench for Villa but now I’m thinking he might be involved v Genk.
I can see Lovren rested with Gomez coming in.
Milner didn’t play yesterday so he’ll prob start in midfield along with Fabinho and maybe Ox.
I don’t see any rest for the fullbacks. I suppose they were rested v Arsenal.
It would be nice to rest Mane too, perhaps Brewster will be the sub to come on for him after 60 or so.
Perhaps a team along the lines of…
TAA, Gomez, VVD, Robbo
Milner, Fabinho, Ox
Mane, Firmino, OrigiNovember 3, 2019 at 4:32 pm #1796458
Apart from the win we need improvement…November 4, 2019 at 6:17 pm #1796867
Henderson wasn’t at open training today but Salah was along with Neco Williams. Sepp Van den Berg, Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster. Just in case yer wanted to know!November 4, 2019 at 6:46 pm #1796885November 4, 2019 at 7:32 pm #1796892
I’d like to see Virgil be given a rest so would go with something like this:
Alisson, Trent, Gonez, Lovren, Robbo, Milner, Lallana, Ox, Mane, Origi and Mo.
Subs: Adrian, Bobby, Fabinho, Keita, VVD, Brewster and van den Berg.
Give Gini and Virgil the night off and rest them for Sunday.
That centre back partnership would worry the bejeezus outta me but it should take care of business.
I’m going for an exciting 4-2!November 5, 2019 at 10:07 am #1797123
Yes, by all means rest some of the first XI, but I don’t think we should repeat last Wednesday and have a bench full of reserves/non-regulars. We could afford to lose against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, but we can’t afford to lose against Genk as it could compromise our chances of progressing to group stage; so we need the option to bring on the remaining cavalry if required.November 5, 2019 at 10:45 am #1797147
Klopp takes the leagues and CL very seriously.
The League Cup is for the reserves/fringe players.
It’ll be a strong match day squad with some rotation.
I don’t see Lovren playing this game what with his injury history.November 5, 2019 at 11:24 am #1797156
Can see Ox and Keita starting alongside Fabinho. Man City is far too big a game not to rest some players. Klopp definitely has an eye on that game given the Fabinho yellow card situation. Origi might start as well so I think Mane will get a rest since Salah came off pretty early at Villa. I think Gomez will get a start as well and Milner in for 1 of the FBs. If he wants to get back into the first team picture this will probably be his chance. Personally I wouldn’t trust Lovren against Man City but he’s pretty much all we’ve got right now.
Alisson, TAA, Gomez, VVD, Milner, Fabinho, Ox, Keita, Origi, Salah, FirminoNovember 5, 2019 at 4:40 pm #1797258
Brewster played for the u19s today.
I guess he won’t be involved later.
They were beat 1-0.November 5, 2019 at 6:46 pm #1797269
Liverpool: Alisson, Trent, Gomez, VVD, Milner, Keita, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Origi and Ox
Hoping it’s not a 4-3-3November 5, 2019 at 6:54 pm #1797272
Could be a diamond 442 Ginger with Fab holding mid, Gini left, Naby right (or vice versa), Ox as the 10 and then Mo and Origi up top?November 5, 2019 at 6:57 pm #1797273
No Mane and Firmino in the starting 11??
Of course we have the match against City on Sunday but 2 out of 3 strikers at the bench??November 5, 2019 at 7:00 pm #1797274
Origi will play as a CF and Salah at the right side. Then we need a player at the left side, Ox?? We have played very rarely 4-4-2!!November 5, 2019 at 7:08 pm #1797280
Could be Rob
I’d like to see that.
I think it’s gonna be Kieta front left tho in a 4-3-3.November 5, 2019 at 9:02 pm #1797315
Why can’t we just do a straight forward routine win for once?!
Defence not had a lot to do but have been complacent when they have.
Would rather this game didn’t go down to the wire again.November 5, 2019 at 9:30 pm #1797324
Think Keita’s been poor again. Just looks half hearted in his attitude.November 5, 2019 at 9:45 pm #1797327
He’s been solid but that’s about it.
It’s games like these when he’s given an opportunity that he needs to step up.
Good to see Ox taking his chance again and putting himself firmly in the managers mind for Sunday.November 5, 2019 at 9:59 pm #1797331
Keita was keeping the ball moving in midfield. He was better than just “solid”. Lost our fluidity in possession when him and Ox came off and let them back into the game. Ox did well in the Firmino role today. Enough evidence there that Klopp doesn’t think Brewster is ready yet. Fabinho lost his man for the goal. Gomez showing his lack of positioning and awareness again. Overall it was a big win and we only need to beat Napoli to seal our place at the top of the group with a game to play.
