Another struggle which if we had taken some of the chances it would have been easy.
After me slating OX & Keita v Arsenal, I thought OX did very well & Keita good in the 1st half & then disappeared in the 2nd.
What has happened to Salah? he seems to get the ball tangled in his feet & loses the ball, he did some lovely touches but the end result, nothing!! Hope he comes good v City.November 5, 2019 at 10:38 pm #1797349
Ox seems to be ticking along nicely now improving in every game.
Could be an instrumental sub for SundayNovember 5, 2019 at 11:20 pm #1797358
I think Keita needs to do a heck of a lot more, particularly considering his price tag, although the concerning thing about him tonight for me was his commitment, particularly without the ball – whilst he generally still chased things it just looked half hearted. If you look at the cross that led to the corner for the Genk goal, he just made a half hearted attempt to close the cross down. If you compare him to Origi tonight, there was a stark difference in their desire. Origi looked full of beans. Tonight was the perfect game for Keita to seize an opportunity. If he couldn’t tonight, when will he? Unless he’s playing somewhat with the handbrake on to keep fit and injury free, but he can’t do that forever.November 6, 2019 at 2:05 am #1797361
We’ll play Napoli at home next where 3 points will secure TOP spot.November 6, 2019 at 8:00 am #1797376

Concerned that Keita won’t make it with us now aswell Mikus.
Playing him left in the middle 3 is not his position. If we play 4-2-3-1 I’d like to see him as part of the middle 2 or as number ten. Problem is we only seem to turn to that formation when chasing a game
He needs to do much more though. He’s not fully fit for one. Weres the aggression and passion he had in Germany?November 6, 2019 at 8:01 am #1797377

A very stressful win, We had the chances to finish the gsme but we did not score. Salah must score anfd we must play much better against City!!!November 6, 2019 at 11:36 am #1797467
Job done in an efficient manner, with little drama.
Now the focus must be 100% on getting 3 points on SundayNovember 6, 2019 at 12:42 pm #1797509
I honestly don’t know why anyone is complaining, I thought we controlled the game from the start to finish, the only thing to bitch about is the cheap goal conceded.
A part from that we got plenty positives, another goal from Oxlade, who is starting to look the part again. Keita got some vital minutes under his belt and looks a bit more ready to make an impact. We made six changes to the lineup and we kept control, we might have lacked a bit of a bite in the first half but thats all explained by chopping up the team… Fabinho is rested, all of our midfielders have in fact been rested, We even managed to give both our fullbacks some time off and we should be fresh for the City game.November 6, 2019 at 4:55 pm #1797613
Bingo. I think the complaining is that we know we are controlling games but seem to struggle at every game & this is very worrying.November 6, 2019 at 5:09 pm #1797614
I thought we saw them off with ease, it was a silly goal to concede but it was from a set piece, it’s not like they found a way through the defense and it was 6 changes to the lineup, you cant expect too much fluidity when that happens even less when those six changes came on top of another eleven changes… the big match is next and we got everyone fresh for that… biggest game of the season and everyone kinda looks ready for the game. We could see Oxlade pop up with a goal, Keita could do something, Origi will want another goal. Bobby and Mane are both fresh and to tell you the truth I was quite happy with Salah, he worked really hard for the team and created a lot. I cant wait for the next match mate.November 6, 2019 at 6:08 pm #1797628
My point was not so much about last night, but so far this season, too many games we get late goals etc., winning this way cannot last.
Hope all comes well v City though.November 6, 2019 at 6:59 pm #1797650
As for Keita it looks somewhat of a mental/physocal issue. For one I think he needs to hit the gym, he seems hesitant to get stuck into 50/50 tackles and he gets bundled off the ball way too easily for someone that was likened to Kante. Its ironic that he seems better going forward than he does defensively but he himself has stated that he is a defensive midfielder. But maybe some physicall bulking up will give him that edge he needs to feel confident in the tackle on and off the ball. There are some parralels with Gini here, when Gini first arrived many of us were aghast how someone who didnt seem right for defensive work could play in a defensive-minded midfield. How many times was Gini nicknamed Casper the Ghost? Eventually Gini bulked up a little and had become much more adapted to being a physical minded midfileder. The same thing needs to happen with Keita, he needs to understand his position and then bulk up in the gym/conditioning work to get up to the standard.
