Talk about taking your chances! After the last few games I fully expected us to lose but this result!! Off to have a few celebratory drinks. I shall have a few bruises from pinching myself!

    Ha! Ha! Uncle !

The first time I went to the Hawthorns, in 1963/4, I saw our dear team run over, 5-1, by an amazing Leeds side…So, today’s game that I felt sure we’d lose, made me smile.

I look forward to comments from those who were there.

    Cheers, Uncle!

Seriously , this is one result.

We are temporarily buoyed, but all this means is that we are a dubious team in a small pond where the waves often wreak
strange results. (For a reality check, think back no further than the Derby game).

I still think that it’s more important to get footie people in and formulate a long term plan than to kid ourselves that what we’ve got is adequate.

I think you’re wrong, Derwent. The main complaint of supporters before has been
DM’s preferred option (3-5-2) has always left us vulnerable at the back. But he showed himself to be tactically flexible today and according to reports everyone appeared in roles far more suited to them. Of course it all means nothing if we lose at Ipswich. I am seriously pleased for Darren as he IS a great guy who was beginning to appear out of his depth. Well today we outplayed one of the best teams in the league and it was much like our results at the end of last season. So we go forward with a more realistic basis for hope after today. Dawson and Hegazi, good defenders in the Premiers League, hadn’t become dreadful Championship defenders overnight. It was the system. And we seem to have unearthed a decent right back in the Man City youngster – shame he’s only on loan.

So hope is back, a more guarded hope but we’ve re-kindled it against Leeds. Now let’s prove it against Ipswich.
