For the first time in what seems ages we are pitted against one of the top sides, a side who have an inferior squad to Arsenal according to No. 1 Wengie Boy fatmop. If we play against City the way we have been playing then we are going too lose. The thought of Xhaka trying to stop Kevin de Bruyne would scare anyone to death. Once again team selection will be important, surely it’s time to dump the one legged flop that is Pepe, if ever a footballer was wasteful and predictable it’s him. Nelson is far more effective. Let’s hope City have given up on the title and they take it easy saving themselves for more important games in the CL. Interested to see how Mari performs.

I think every one is giving us a free pass on this game. If we can get a point I would be really happy with but think it will be mission impossible. The interesting thing will be how we approach it. Arteta has approached all of his games based on how we play and not adapted to take into account the opposition. I don’t think he can do that this game and I would try what united did and put 9 behind the ball and just try and catch them on the break. I would play Pat down the middle Martinelli on the left and nelson on the right I would also drop ozil and play Willock as I just don’t see Ozil getting much of the ball and without it he is pointless. Lastly stop this crap of putting Sok right back ! Think Mari should be ok as we probably wont get far from our 18 yard box so he wont get a chance to get turned but this game will be a big ask for all the back four in particular.

Steve2bath1, agree with everything you have said. City have so much pace and movement and energy in midfield I think playing on the break is our only chance. Try going at them and Xhaka will give the ball away on the half way line and they will sweep past him and the rest of our midfield and cause havoc. I expect Belllerin to play but if he plays the same team as Saturday we are in big trouble. Seems this site has become the two of us talking to each other. Still that spares us from The Stupids Ones inane Ill informed gibberish.

Shame that Tierney isn’t match fit because this could be an opportunity for Saka to move into his rightful position. I’d definitely start with Martinelli but I wouldn’t drop Lacazette… for sure not start Nketiah, he has a lot to learn I’m not a fan of his I must admit. Big miss was Torreria for this game I feel, we need energy in the midfield but I can’t see much hope with our energyless, slow pedestrian midfield at the moment. Let’s hope for the best anyway, maybe take some hope in that Citeh are off the boil with nothing to really play for in the league apart from second… COYG

Match postponed due to Coronavirus. Several arsenal players in self-isolation.

Our defence should be fine. They couldn’t catch a cold, if they tried.

Bit of a weird one as it’s the players who did not okay against Olympiakos who are the issue as they are the ones who met the Olympiakos owner in his box. They have been signed off of training until Friday.

    Everyone else is unaffected.

Well this is so weird football back and Line up very strange. Saka on the right, no Luiz and now we can see why. No ozil and no pepe. ? Mustafi and Mari starting and willock. Tactically it looked ok we had not been pulled all over the place. But Laca looks wasted on the left. Eddie lots of work but not really any goal threat and Saka not in the game. I suppose in reality if we got anything today against a fully fit city team under normal circumstances it would be a Miracle so let’s just pray

Luiz has been outstanding since Arteta came but today looked like petulant kid who did not fancy it and had the hump cause he was sub. I don’t know what’s going on there but I assume that’s the end of him at arsenal

Football is back…and so is the dissapointment.People will point to Luiz and rightly so…But the whole team looked clueless. It’s like they came prepared to lose.No passion and not much reactions at all.The whole team,Don’t blame Arteta I still think he is a gem but some of these players we have are laughable.

Auba looked disappointed.Have to surely assume he’s leaving.

Just from next game onwards,I hope the likes of pepe start. And torreira.

I saw Auba get into some great positions made for him, he made some great runs and all it required was a simple pass on many occasions in the first half and he was gone. Instead, the play a lateral ball. Talk about not playing to your strengths, he is wasted at Arsenal if they are not going to play to his amazing strength!

I’ve said it for over 10 years now with Arsenal, they need to go back to basics and it starts at the back. Get in some no nonsense defenders. Stop bringing in ball playing defenders and get back to basics. From there you can add flair

Absolute shambles, ludicrous team selection with our most creative player Saka played on the right, Abameyang on the left, Xhaka in midfield. As I’ve been saying for years until the dross is dumped nothing changes. And once again we were gutless, Ozil disease has spread further into the fabric of the club it’s very sad. The following need booting out: Bellerin, Sokratis, Luiz, Mustafi, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Elneny, Torreira, Ozil, Pepe, Lacazette and if Abameyang is going to start performing dump him as well. Build the team around the youth and add 3 or 4 quality younger players. We cant be any worse than we are now with these overpaid gutless wasters. Wengers losers and Emery’s awful 2nd rafters have to go.

The only thing I can blame Arteta for is the formation. You’re never going to beat this city team at their own game.We played a 4-3-3.Tried to keep a lot of posession.
Guardiola read that and took advantage. It was a shambolic performance highlighted with a comedic defense.

Apparently Arteta had a bust up with Luiz after the game.

You can’t change the quality of players right away, but I just hope this team has the bollocks to show they have something to play for. That’s on the players, but Arteta has to get it out of them.

Stev2bath1 “Luiz has been outstanding since Arteta came?!” What an astonishing comment. I despair, I really do, if that is the sort of analysis fans come up with. This club is rotten from the top to the bottom. We have Kroenke and his boy doing sfa. We have Raul buying inferior players as he has links to their agents. We pay £5m for a Southampton reject who has been permanently injured and is now a free agent and we have Arteta playing one of Europe’s best strikers on the wing still and our best youth player on the right wing. We had no tactics under Freddie, Emery and now Arteta. We have idiotic line-ups, weird subs ( what has Marinelli done that he could not get on last night) and statements that he “values” Xhaka Luiz and Mustafi. And our players had no guts, no idea, zero ability and were probably wishing they were still at home given last night’s display. Who really cared out there last night- Leno, that’s about it!

Luiz, Xhaka and Mustafi have all played better under Arteta. For me they have not been outstanding. What worries the most is that they all have mistakes in them and Arteta likes them. Reminds me of Wenger persisting with players who kept costing us and have to question Arteta’s judgement.

We have definitely improved under Arteta but I really struggle to understand how Pepe and martinelli cannot even come off the bench when we’re losing but AMN can. We might as well sell Pepe and Ozil if he doesn’t have faith in them.

T_Adams. I agree Luiz, Xhaka and Mustafi have all improved under Arteta. They have gone from being appalling to just very bad. No other leading club, if that is what we are, would even think about buying such dross. None of them are Premiership standard. We should have sold that sloth Xhaka for £22m when an offer came for him in January. Mustafi is now making noises about moving back to Germany. If anyone offers even £10 for him, bite their hands off. Luiz wants a two year deal! This for a clown who was never even an average centre half, who’s given away four pens this season and is on nearly £7m basic salary with us. Who else would allow this nonsense to prevail at their club? We have a load of free loaders who are there just to pick up ludicrous wages. By the way, what’s happened to Saliba? Is he still crocked- would make sense after our recent loan signings like Soares and Suarez who were/are always injured!

At last people are waking up to the fact that we DONT have this amazing squad some people think we have. Perhaps now those clowns who thought we would win the PL a couple of seasons back because we had ‘this amazing squad that is better than Man City’ have come out of their trance and realised we are crap. We are 9th for a reason, and let’s be fair we are lucky to be 9th, we just aren’t very good. Limited up front, pedestrian in midfield and thanks to Wenger utterly clueless at the back. I stated when Wenger was sacked it would take at least 10 years and 3 managers to put this mess right, that in fact is generous. The club is rotten from top to bottom, every aspect, every department is incompetent. Wenger should have gone 10 years before he was dumped, Klopp should have been appointed but he wasn’t and Liverpool are the beneficiaries. The problem now is we are so poor top players won’t come to us and we can’t attract a decent experienced manager. Emery was always going to be out of his depth, there was nothing Freddie could do and although Arteta has a future in management it won’t be with Arsenal. Shift the dross or next season will be worse than this, we are going to end up a bottom half of the table side with Leno, Saka, Willock, Nelson, Martinelli, Smith-Rowe all wanting out and the likes of Mustafi, Xhaka, Ozil and Luiz trying to get contract extensions because life at Arsenal is so cushy. Get it sorted, dump the dross
