    Could be a tricky one
They are not playing well but can still score against the likes of us
Looking forward to the game but nervous as ever
Hope we nick 3 points and pile on the misery 😁

A couple of weeks ago, all I asked from this team was to get results against Liverpool and Man Utd.Not necessarily wins, that would be foolish to expect although top sides would expect that and that’s the difference between them and us.Even draws would do.
This team has added 150m to it’s transfer debt.Been given the highest spenders in Europe tag. What we have to show for it?We got thrashed at Anfield and we’re probably going to lose against An off form Man Utd side.

I was really hoping this team proves me wrong, but you cannot expect the unrealistic. This team isn’t good enough and the summer recruits most of them are crap.

If this was a decade ago and we went into the game playing against a Man Utd side not on good form then I’d have atleast the slightest confidence but I don’t because the sides espescially midfield we have now are poles apart.

I’m expecting them to win, and that should all but realise the deluded fans who think we actually have a chance to finish in the top 4 come out of their nests.

Anyways on the game itself,I really hope we try a different approach.I’d put El nenny in their instead of the overrated and overhyped lokonga who was terrible against Liverpool.Or wait, am I not allowed to criticise him because he’s young and protected?

    My team (5-2-3)

    Ramsdale,AMN,Tomiyasu,white,gabriel,tierney,partey and Elnenny,Saka,Auba and Lacazette.

Will be difficult for us, as we tend to not have the responding confidence when playing against them.
Their press was very aggressive against Chelsea and they were a much better team than what I’ve seen previously. Hope I get my Christmas present early, with a three pointer. I must be honest and am not confidant.
We will be bullied and kicked, but need to respond with intent. They will still be brittle from their past poor performances. We must turn up and play quickly through the transitions from defence, hopefully to a clinical forward line.

The key to this game will be tactics, team selection and attitude. Arteta always goes into these games with a negative plan and it never works. Our two Hale End wonder kids have carried the team for over a season now, the new signings have all played really well especially Ramsdale & Ben White. Persisting with Abameyang isn’t doing us any favours, he isn’t doing it, he’s a spent force and is earning a living under false pretences, much sooner see a more committed player with pace and energy. If Arteta isn’t careful he’s going to lose Nketiah, Martinelli and Balogun, give them game time. This will be a tough game and Arteta has got to get it right. Oh and FFS take the captaincy away from Abameyang, he’s the last person capable of motivating players on the pitch during a game.

TSO everyone is entitled to there opinion but some of your thoughts I have no idea what you know or how much you actually understand about the game. Why waste all your words on harping on about what happened 10 years ago, complaining we got hammered at Liverpool, one of the best teams in Europe and how our shit owners gave us £150 million but it was pointless as it was wasted. Then you say you think We should still play elneny. Should we manage to get a result we won’t hear from you and if we loose you will spout this same nonsense again. Why support Arsenal nothing they do seems to work for you I just don’t see the point of you calling yourself a fan or even supporter!

Oracle how can you say it never works ? We did win there last year and we won at Leicester this year and last year? It does work sometimes and let’s hope it works tonight! I don’t see the point in playing elneny unless AMN or Lokonga are not fit. Apart from him having no future at the club and He has not played all season,he also can’t do anything that AMN can’t do. This will be tough, as we have no idea what united will turn up. They have outstanding players , just don’t play as a team so let’s hope they are still all over the place and we can take them again but if we can Come away with a point I would take that now.

Ste2bath1, what I said was when Arteta goes into the game with a negative game plan we invariably lose. You refute this by quoting two games, Leicester this year where we were 0-2 up after 18mins and Man Utd last season where we scored after 13mins, hardly negative. There’s a difference between defending leads and being negative from the outset.

As for the Forum Fool you forgot to mention he thinks Smith-Rowe isn’t good enough and should be loaned out. He didn’t even include him in his team for tonight. Staggering lack of footballing knowledge.

Oracle last year at united was backs against the wall it was as defensive a performance as you can get. Thought we were poor in midfield again started well then just got sloppy. Partey needs to stop giving ball away when not under pressure.

I’ve been saying for some time Arsenal fans need to wake up to Partey, he’s far from a great player. Arteta’s team selection and tactics are going to cost us this game, we were much the better side should have gone for the 2nd goal but Arteta chose to sit back and look what’s happened. Abameyang ineffective and Partey just can’t track back. Martinelli showing far more than Abameyang.

Cant blame the tactics we should have got more out of that game. They are a very poor version of united so I am really disappointed in that result.

I’m honestly tired of this shite.
This team is nothing but a bunch of pretenders. Not for the title but for the top 4.
    Pathetic really.
What a failed summer recruitment. And yes I will keep mentioning it every time because this club has spent 150m.An amount they don’t have to spend so that’s gone in our transfer debt.

Ben White is nothing but an overrated and overpriced defender.I said it before and will say it again he will never be able to justify his 50m price tag.He isn’t even suited to play in a four man defence. He’s not great defensively and the one good quality of playing out the back he can’t because he plays on thebackfoot.
Tomi is a panic buy.Done on the last day because our first choice right back was desperate to leave. He’s not even a right back.

I don’t get it, this team doesn’t have the quality to hold a top side to bay.Unlioke Chelsea Liverpool and city you know this team will concede for sure that’s because the quality isn’t there.

Arteta biggest blunder? Not investing in midfield. What a negligent decision and he’s paying for it now.For his philosophy which requires a strong midfield it is just a bamboozling decision. We need atleast 3 world class midfielders to ever progress.

This team is nothing but a sorry excuse for a CL challengers. We will never ever finish there and anyone who thinks that needs to come out of cuckoo land.

    150m spent, same old Arsenal.

Steve2bath1, of course you can blame the tactics. Thierry Henry and Patrice Evra both said the same thing at half time. Arsenal scored early, they were well on top why did they sit back. Arteta keeps doing it and it always backfires. His team selection and the performances of Abameyang and Partey cost us that game.

Stev – Coming from someone who usually supports Arteta, even I admit that he hasn’t a clue what he actually wants to do with this squad. He had enough money to invest in this squad, but he made all the wrong choices.
This philosophy that he so dearly follows and refuses to back down from it, a world class midfield is an absolute must for it and he’s neglected that in the summer which again is just bamboozling.
Think of it, when defenders play out the back we don’t have a good enough midfield for transition. When we beat the press, we just retain possession instead of capitalising in attack.I’ve seen it time and again over the course of the season.

He started the season with a 4-2-3-1 and switched to a 4-4-2 and today played a 4-4-1-1.
The guy hasn’t an idea what he wants to do.

He refuses to get some facts straight and that is that this team doesn’t have the quality yet to play the style that he wants.
It is impossible without a class midfield. On top of that,Ben white might be a decent player but he’s not suited to a back 4.Tomi again isn’t a bad player but he isn’t a right back ffs.

So why doesn’t he just switch to a back 5?It is important to note his only real form of success came when he played that system when he won us the FA cup.
    It’s just bamboozling really.
Switching both white and Tomi and fitting them into a back 3 system would solve two problems with one solution.
I know we don’t have a good enough RB OR RWB but I’d play AMN until we can get someone else there.

We need to drop this obsession of playing out the back and switch to a counter attacking team(something that would suit Auba as well).
I suggested before the game as well.

We’ve now lost against all of the top 6 bar Tottenham which is not really an achievement either.
All this proves is we utterly still lack the quality.

The question arises – If we’re the same after spending 150m then why did we spend it in the first place?
In fact,we’ve become worse because last season we atleast managed wins at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. Both times playing a back 5 system.

I’m not going to hide it, today’s result was extremely disappointing. The past few weeks was a chance to prove to the likes of me that this team is progressing but it really isn’t.Pretenders.

Yeah, I’m baffled by the tactics today. Going a goal up and then sitting back is just asking for trouble, especially against a team that has ridiculous firepower riches in its ranks. The way to hurt Manure is to attack because they have a soft belly.
This tactic may have worked against us, but quite frankly you guys got lucky that day. When your goalie is man of the match you know you were up against it.

Every time we lose it’s a disaster and every thing in the club is shite and every time we win it was luck or the team we are playing was shit! We are 5th and we lost one game through stupid mistakes. I am gutted as they were there for the taking, they were very poor and we did not play well enough but I am not going to now say it’s all shite because of one game. Especially when we were not outplayed away from home by if not a great team some very good players.

Stev you are very much in the wrong place if you expect to get sensible, Logical, Objective views and discussions. You got people like Oracle & his arch nemesis TSO who get it wrong ALOT much more than they ever get it right, Posters like them who think they are world class tacticians yet never coached a kids team and only played a level of sunday league at best. They havent got a scooby doo.

Hahahaha Old matey Andy.Missed you on here.
I don’t know what logic you use generally but You’re not making any sense.Don’t make claims you can’t back.I don’t say this often or else I will get accused of being too arrogant with the “I told you so comments”.But since You mentioned it, please don’t make claims you can’t back.Exactly what have I got wrong?Go back up your argument.Almost if not all arguments I’ve made have proved out to be in favour of my debating points. All through the summer I begged for this club to not neglect the midfield and now we have to select from a midfield 3 of Partey(Not lived upto expectations),El nenny(I like him but still not good enough),Lokonga(Overhyped and the only reason he doesn’t get enough criticism is because Arsenal fans have this obsession of protecting the young so they get preferential treatment).
I also claimed many other things, such as this summer recruitment has been failed.Clearly you haven’t been here when all I asked was to pick up draws against Liverpool and Man united and prove me wrong to prove this team’s worth.
But I got PROVED right again in saying the quality of this team is still nowhere near good enough.
It is against top teams that our quality is tested.Consistency is not tougher to achieve but without quality how will you ever achieve your goals?

A lot of people are also ignoring that we have no midweek Europen football which is a huge huge advantage for us.
The likes of you making excuses for this team is probably why we will never progress as a club.

150m spent, highest spenders in Europe. In most other leagues this wins you titles.Granted it’s the PL and considering the circumstances we should atleast get 4th.But we won’t.You’ll Ofcourse make excuses but I won’t.
Who hasn’t got a Scooby doo now!?!

Stev2bath1, I post before and after every game and I always give credit where it’s due. On the Monday after the Newcastle game no one posted a thing, only 4 people posted in total.

AndyC, where have you been hiding again. So Thierry Henry is wrong is he, and how do you know I’ve never coached a kids team, not that that has any bearing on Arsenal, and only played Sunday league. Like everything else you spout you don’t know. Just another know nothing. Anyone who can’t see team selection and tactics cost us that game has no business claiming to be an expert.

If this game didn’t prove that the club made an inexcusable error in appointing a novice coach who had never managed before to that position in the third most successful club in England, than nothing will. Lockdown gave this micro manager the opportunity to screech his instructions in empty stadia to his players. It was safety first then and it is now. Absolutely pathetic yet again to retreat, cowering against an average Utd team who hadn’t won at home in three months and had a back four who I don’t think had ever played together before. We were very lucky to manage a draw against Brighton as they couldn’t shoot on target and beat Leicester where Ramsdale had the game of his life. Again, in both games, we conceded possession and invited trouble and with our porous midfield and kids who can’t yet defend with confidence.Tavares has to give way to Tierney on Monday as he has no positional sense and cannot defend. White has to sharpen up as he was very average yesterday- his wretched pass to the opposition led to the first goal and he was out of position for the second. Elneny was “dictating” play in the last 15 minutes- fantastic as this snail cum crab poses no threat. ESR and Ode need to bulk up and not lose the ball whenever anyone goes to tackle them as we then lose the ball. As for Partey and Auba, words fail me. No doubt, come Monday our genius manager will stick with Auba and drop Martinelli, the latter being the only one who had any real commitment last night. Let’s see if Arteta resurrects Everton’s season- another timid performance will follow from this charlatan. Oh, apologies for this post. Our resident, brilliant ex-footballer and coach, who is the site’s most knowledgeable and best ever fan, will come and grumble that no-one except him knows what they’re talking about. What a stupid post, are journalists not allowed an opinion? Are ex-players like Henry, Dixon, Groves thick?!
