Songman FairPlay for the positivity but why do you think we can win tvis?

    The reasons we won’t are

The high line will be breached absolutely no doubt
Lack of energy abdand press which had all but gone

The lack of movement from the front 3 bar salah is Diabolical

    We can’t defend

    We miss to many chances

I’ll be absolutely astounded if we even get a draw. That’s the most negative I’ve been in years but we have been here so many times, you just k ow what is coming

If fabhino not in midfield then It’s like banging your head againest a wall

Why so negative Sean, what’s the point of turning up if you can’t believe you can win?

United play Roma tonight, so that could have an impact on them in terms of injuries, also if they don’t win they might focus more on the return leg, than our game. They have already qualified for the CL, so their aim now is to win a trophy, as their manager has won nothing.

Also, we have had a full week to train (starting yesterday), to reflect on our mistakes, and work on correcting them.

But Fabinho has to start in midfield to give us the best chance of winning this game

I would be a lot more confident if it wasn’t at Old Toilet. We just go to shit over there, pun intended. I can see us going with the high line as well to try and keep them out of the box and away from the penalties. Would stop Cavani dominating the air as well if he plays. The way we approached that RM game away reeks of paranoia, somewhat justified, with players afraid to make challenges. I don’t expect that to change here and our game plan to be centered around that. Wijnaldum is going to be a liability at #6 if Fabinho starts in defence. Rhys Williams shouldn’t start either because he can’t handle Manure’s pace and power. Even if Salah scores, I have no confidence that we can keep it out at the other end if Phillips doesn’t make it in time. Our only option I think is to go for it and with all our attackers not firing, I don’t have confidence in that option either.

If we are to win at this toughest of grounds, we need to go there with total confidence, attack them with a vengeance, and put them under real pressure to make mistakes. Game plan and performance must be spot on, no more silly mistakes or lack of concentration.

Despite misfiring recently, our front 3 is still our greatest asset, Jota in particular, has a point to prove, after missing so many chances against Newcastle. I’d start with him, Salah and Mane, with instructions to press their defence into oblivion.

The magic question is once again Fabinho, and if Phillips is unavailable, Klopp just has to bite the bullet and play Davies alongside Kabak, though that is unlikely to happen, giving Davies his debut in such a crucial game.

As said before, I hope United flop tonight, and focus more on their return game next week

The team doesn’t have total confidence, quite the opposite.
We havnt been attacking with a vengeance, we struggle to score at all.
We havnt been putting teams under any major pressure.

We’ve won at Old Trafford once since 2009.

Song, love the positivity (and I’m usually positive) but we’ve had four months to correct mistakes and we are still making them weekly.

Just ONE passenger on Sunday and we will get beat. We need all 11 performing at a high level and I don’t trust the team a) that all 11 will perform and the needed level and b) to play consistently over 90 mins. The opportunities both ‘average’ Leeds and Newcastle created was embarrassing.

Phillips not at training again and Shaqiri wasn’t there either (not that it matters as he never plays anyhow).

    Put my house on:

Alisson, Trent, Kabak, Fabinho, Robbo, Milner, Thiago, Gini, Mane, Bobby and Mo.

Ginger, I’d be shocked if it’s not. Milner will definitely start (played well when he has recently and will be likely employed to pressure the great Fernandes), Gini has had ‘non game rest’ this week and Thiago will be the first name on the midfield starters list for sure. Keita is done, Ox won’t be trusted to perform from the off (I like Ox but feel his days are numbered now). That leaves Curtis Jones as the only other possibility but I see him on the bench.

Jota hasn’t scored in a month, Shaq’s not getting a sniff in (and not evidently injured – only Liverpool get injuries from players that don’t play) so our usual 433 triumvirate up top it is.

United showing tonight what’s in store for us Sunday. We couldn’t stop Leeds’ onslaught so we’ve jack all chance of stopping Fernandes, Pogbq, Greenwood, Rashford and Cavani.

Klopp said no new injury worries meaning it’s Fabinho alongside Kabak on Sunday. I think if we had 10 centre backs they’d all the injured.

I find it baffling that Klopp can openly admit that playing a midfielder at CB weakens both our midfield and defence in his press conference and then still go ahead and play Fabinho at CB. Or is Fabinho a CB in his mind now? Either that or he’s deliberately refusing to use certain players so they don’t get injured and scupper moves away from the club in the summer.

On the basis that whatever form we are showing recently is found in the first half of games and that Man Utd are doing the exact opposite by getting all their results in their second half performances; I think we’ll need a 0::4 half-time lead to get anything from this game!

Form goes out the window in this fixture, the lads shouldn´t even need any fans in the stands to know how much this game means… Its just too bad Henderson is not fit so my guess is that Milner will start and take the armband, we need someone that can set the tempo of the game… That´s why we miss Henderson so much, he can dicate the tempo easily and knows when to pace it up…

Sure, Sheffield beat them 2-1 over there in Jan, so don’t see why we can’t do so tomorrow.

However, United will raise their game for this fixture, so every one of our players will have to be on top of their game, and give 100% to get the job done

Foxy : “Mr Mak, I agree with all of those points you make but I think you are missing one very important one. Klopp’s tactics are unsustainable physically on a team without constant refreshment.”

I knew when I wrote it that it might be missing some things and wasn’t a comprehensive list of the compounding issues, which really only further strengthens my point that although VAR and no fans was a huge factor, there’s even more going into this perfect storm of demotivation.

Going to your point though about refreshing or adding to the squad, we don’t really know if Klopp was willing to do this or not. Perhaps he’s been going mad privately and it’s the owners or Edwards who have over-ruled him. I think you’re right in a way, with regards to the style of football he plays, or rather “played” because the PL winning side were a less intense team than the one that made the CL final against Real. There were so many games where we controlled games and won by a small margin, focusing as much on not conceding than anything else. The heavy metal football was largely gone by then, simply because we conceded too many (in my opinion), leaving more and more offensive work to be done to get 3 points.

Still, I’m not saying that counter-pressing etc was just totally taken out of our game or that we never went at teams, just that there were far more normal games in there than the media gave credit for. So often you’d hear pre or post match about this swashbuckling Liverpool, but it felt like they hadn’t yet watched enough of Liverpool recently, that they were just going off old information.

That is at least my impression of things, perhaps Im in the minority here.

    Play Williams or Davies instead.

I honestly don’t think I can tolerate watching us continue to unlearn from this experience. I am not looking forward to this match at all.
