It doesn’t matter how out of form they are United seem to raise their game and get something out of matches against Chelsea. Expecting this to be no different. Hopefully Rudiger is back for this one. Probably 1-1.

One of our most traditional rivals of this century particularly, it’s very true they always try much harder against us and manage to get something out the game, so I’m not really expecting a win, though I wouldn’t mind as a win will practically secure a top 4 finish. Holding fingers

I predicted a loss here on the other thread. Man Utd tend to do well against us and I can’t see this match will be different as we haven’t played well lately. (But neither have them though).

I wouldn’t risk Rudiger if he is not fit, we still need to have a good run until the end of the season and the FA Cup final. Kovacic won’t be available. I don’t think we should rotate that much so that the current team can gel until the end of the season as Werner, Havertz start to show results.

My team would be exactly the same as previous match except James if he is ready.
    Mendy – Reece James,Thiago Silva,Chalobah – Loftus-Cheek,Jorginho,Kanté,Alonso – Werner,Havertz,Mount

Lot of pessemistic opinions here! I don’t see any reason why we should be worried about facing United. The only thing that could make us lose that game is the number of silly mistakes that we have been making since the Brentford match earlier this month. And remember earlier in the season we gifted them the lead, we did the same for Arsenal. The less stupid mistakes we make, the more chances we will have of winning that match.

I would play our strongest possible line up, because we will open a 10 point gap with Spurs and 8 point gap with Arsenal. We shouldn’t be complecent. The Werner Havertz partnership is no longer productive, we need to refreshen it with Pulisic and Ziyech.

Play 4-3-3, with back fou of Sarr, Rudiger, Silva, James, one pivot of Kante, Loftus Cheek and Mount ahead of him. A front trio of Ziyech on the right, Havertz in the middle and Pulisic on the left. This game is winnable of we approach it with the correct attitude.

Maybe for this game I would possibly select Jorginho so that the game can be spoiled as a spectacle and we can just retain aimless possession. Alternatively upfront would definitely go for Ziyech, Mount and Pulisic with Harvetz playing the false no. 9 again.

Werner has scored in three of the last four matches and also provides assists but then we have a strange situation over the next four days in that we play United away on a Thursday night and back up against Everton away on Sunday afternoon so refreshing the front line is probably the best thing to do. As long as Lukaku stays away we have some hope of being productive up front. That miss the last time we set the statue up in the penalty area that hit a post from point blank range was it for me with him.

I think it will be counter-productive to bench Werner now as he is in his best form since joining Chelsea. Sure he still gives ball rather cheaply with his inaccurate passing but he creates chances now. For me he should have scored against West Ham, he was unlucky. 2 big chances.

Sarr, he’s not Chelsea class. It’s becoming apparent now I think. I would prefer Tuchel to keep the same formation that was solid but not that entertaining against West Ham than to scramble everything all over again. Rudiger was pictured in training, so he should be available I guess.

That is our strongest line up that i would have selected. I hope we don’t make any silly mistake. I would also like to see Reece James and Alonso play higher up the pitch to support our attack. My only fear is Jorginho.

Has to be a matter of time surely. If we don’t win this there needs to be an internal Royal Commission. 38 minutes of total domination. Reece Jame’s wing he totally owns. Usual problem of the final pass and/or average finishing.

ha ha young blue my only fear is we get to the 93rd minute at 0-0, get a penalty and Jorginho steps up to take it. Half time 0-0!!

If they get one I can see them getting three. The usual burden of getting the opener and a lead showing.

The possession count of 70 to 30% suggests how far United have fallen from their Ferguson days that they are set up to survive and try and win on the odd counter attacking opportunity. They used to be a dominant force but no longer, not for years now.

Well, picked it at 1-1 but a poor result all things considered. On to Sunday and Everton away. We are now 6 clear with a miles better for and against meaning we can afford 2 losses and still make top 4 and Tottenham and Arsenal still have to play each other. It’s all over baby 🙂

How we didn’t win that is amazing, totally outplayed them. Just proves how important it is to have a proper striker.

and Lukaku is not that!! Lumbering oaf he is. Useless individual and we paid 90 something million for that. A joke.

Google meaning for lumbering oaf is:

A person, especially a large male, who is clumsy or a simpleton; an idiot. Ouch! You dropped that box on my feet, you lumbering oaf!

    Sums him up to perfection.

Don’t get me wrong, Lukaku needs to go in the Summer. But in his defence, he gets absolutely sod all service from our midfield. He actually makes some good runs but the player with the ball always choses the wrong option.

That was a highly frustrating game. Liverpool destroyed United, even Arsenal beat them comfortably. They are a total shambles of a club, yet we toiled and toiled and wasted chance after chance. Then we finally score, and within a minute we’ve let them back in the game with an intercepted pass. Completely against the run of play. United must be dancing in the dressing room.

I have to say, I really don’t get much enjoyment from watching Chelsea at the moment. More just frustration really. Our complete lack of being able to score is starting to wear thin. Great news that Tuchel publicly committed himself to the club for next season, but if the new owners don’t back him with the players he needs to play the football he wants to play then I can see us really struggling.

On the mark there BlueLion with everything you say.

I just hate Lukaku’s demeanor and to me he looks totally clumsy and certainly not a player worth even close to 100 million. I see some of those runs but I also see his total lack of effort and commitment to chase any ball that goes remotely close to him unless its placed at his feet. Just don’t like him but maybe that’s just me. There must be a reason why he is a very expensive bench warmer.

Well, in fact it gets even better because we are 8 clear not 6, 8 clear of Tottenham that is 5th so looking rock solid then 🙂
