Andy, I don’t have the problem with the board that I know most Gooners do. The way I see it, their job is to hire the right staff and ensure that the manager has finds to build his team.

Let’s be honest, few of us have trusted Wenger when it’s come to transfers and now we’ll find out whether his record in the market was down to him or down to the board. The most important thing, however much money is available, has to be what you actually do with that cash and Wenger usually spent very badly. When he wasn’t pi$$ing half the cash away on a ‘socialist’ wage structure, he was stuffing the squad with tricky, 5ft midfielders when what we needed was strengthening in just about every other position.

The only problem I’ve ever had with the board was the mess they made with Wenger.

As for the recruitment process, who knows mate? I think the club only let us know what they want us to know but, whether it played out exactly the way it was reported, or whether Emery was always first choice, the board made what is looking like an excellent appointment.

Also gotta give the board credit for the new transfer structure. We’ve already landed Auba for what’s already looking like an absolute steal. They appear to be active already regarding signings for this window and I don’t think we’ll see players being allowed to run down their contracts any more either.

They may have taken a little too long to get us to this stage, but we’re there now, so credit where it’s due. Now they can fade back into the back ground and, in fairness, there aren’t many clubs where the board is especially popular.

I think there’s really exciting times ahead for us Gooners!

People said he may have an issue with the language but he does have some English. He managed some of the press conference in English and answered questions in English. Pretty standard fare in terms of answers basically said he will speak to all players individually and the squad work with what he has for now.

Now that he’s Appointed,i’m glad. He’s a very good manager, been endorsed by many managers in Europe. His record speaks for itself.I think he promoted two sides two the first league early on in his career, then in top flight football he made valencia finish thrice consecutively which is pretty good considering it’s near impossible to overtake both barca and real. Then with sevilla,he won the Europe league 3 times consistently which is very impressive. For people to judge him in France based on CL is ridiculous. He’s won 7 out of a possible 8 trophies in his two years there having highest points per game percentage of any PSG manager. The one ligue 1 title he didn’t win, monaco had a freak season but still I think PSG finished on 87 points 3 behind them which is acceptable. So what, guardiola hasn’t been in even a final of the CL since he has messi’s barca so does that make him poor as well?CL is a competeiton any team can win,and in my opinion certainly the “best team” in europe dosen’t always win it.

To add to it,And i don’t know whether he’ll actually have this impact. But he was co-author of a book called winning mentality. We desperately need that before anything else, some players need a kick up their arse who are too soft.Players like bellerin.ozil should be given another season at most, and he has to up his intensity and play like he actually cares. Many other players need a change in mentality.so if he brings that to the club i’ll be happy.

Pool Fan is peace. Well, congratulations on getting a great manager, probably as good a manager out there. This is the same guy who broke Klopp’s heart two years ago in the UEFA final. In fact, he left a very good Sevilla team who still were able to Knock out United this year from the CL. There was a lot of pressure and nonsense going on at PSG an I thought he handled it admirably. This bodes well for Arsenal because I think one good thing about his time at Sevilla was the fans and how he got the Sevilla fans on his side. you guys some toxic element just Liverpool did before Klop came and I think Emery is the type of Manager to bring you guys together and give you an identity that you surely need. Definitely, a solid choice and I pick you guys as the ones to watch next year, you need some steel in that midfield and defence and maybe a deep-lying playmaker and you guys will be a force. But regardless I think emery has the ability “to do a Klopp” with your team.

I must admit, the more I hear and read of our new man the more excited i am becoming, its so refreshing to actually look forward to the next season and not know what may happen, we have been able to write the Arsenal season long before the start for far to long, im getting right behind the bloke and our team, he does need some time and i hope the fans are smart enough to realise this and not jump on his back early if he doesnt hit the ground running, also excited by our transfer business this time round

Mwake, I think the same about you guys – I’d say you’re the ones to watch. Klopp is an excellent manager and if anyone can take on Pep next year, I think it’s him. I can see next seasons title race being largely down to how many points ‘Pool and City take off each other.

Like Steveo says, these are very exciting times for us Gooners. I have no doubt that the right manager can quickly have us battling it out with Chelski, Man U and the Spuds and I’m very optimistic that Emery is that guy.

Taking on you guys and City might take a little longer though.

All I know is that I can’t friggin’ wait for next season!

Interesting comments from Auba, one of the few Gunners with no special loyalty to Wenger. He feels that Arsenal had stagnated under Wenger and that everyone is excited about the change.

There’s very few Gooners who would disagree with that but if the rest of his team-mates feel the same too, that’s worth a good few extra points on it’s own next season, before Emery has actually done anything.

Aubamayeng has also stated he only joined Arsenal because of Wenger and he expected Wenger to be staying. he has also suggested (or demanded depending on which paper you read) that he does not play wide, he wants to be the main front man. He may be better employed keeping quiet so that the press cannot try to cause trouble. I have read reports that Unai wants this player and that player, totally irrelevant as it wont be up to him. Arsenal fans have to stop calling him the manager, he isnt. His title is First Team Coach, he can make suggestions but player recruitment is NOT his job. Those days have gone and we have to accept Unai wont have the same role or the same autonomy Wenger did

if you listen to his direct quotes he doesn’t say anything bad.
The papers have manipulated what he said.

He has never demanded to not play wide, he hinted that he wants to play with 2 up top but if he is asked to play wide then he will.
He also said wenger was one of teh reasons he never said the main reason. He thought Wenger was going to be here for years then added his departure is apart of football.
Like you said it depends which paper you read, i heard his quotes on talk sport and there was nothing negative in it.

People who are fantasising of watching both aubameyang and lacazette together “in my opinion” and with respect don’t understand how the modern game is played and what kind of players you need to constitute a successful strike partnership.Firstly let’s just establlish that both lacazette and auba are both out and out strikers, and they’ve proven to be most successful in that position throughout their careers.Considering that,It’s pretty much pointless to try them out in other positions because it would basically mean shifting them from their natural position.

Last season, wenger played a 4-2-3-1 but mostly 4-3-3 with auba wide and lacazette central whenever they did play together which was not always.Ok,so where two out and out strikers play together are in 4-4-2 position. When we use to play that early on in wengers career it use to be henry/berkamp etc.If emery can make sucessfully shift to a 4-4-2,then i have no problem in seeing auba and laca play together. But that would mean no place for ozil in the side, and anyways it’s not emery’s style to play that formation. He playes a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1.Either ways it would mean shifting auba outwide which is not his position. He’s already said he wants to play as a striker up top or at most in a two striker partnership. If auba said “if it is necessary to play outwide then he would”.What else is he suppose to say “Oh no,I won’t play outwide I’ll stay on the bench”.This is walcott all over again.Emery is smart enough to realise that those two strikers is not a team he will build around. He needs a natural out and out winger and he’ll probably buy one. It’s true they had a good partnership towards the end of last season, but it was only against average sides.which is a poor way to judge.

Even one of the best managers in the world Pep guardiola is against two out and out strikers. He’s against playing aguero and jesus together, and he won’t play them together next season as well. Why would he change a system that’s won them the PL?

If anyone believes otherwise, please name me a strike partnership of two out and out strikers that’s been sucessful and won trophies recently. At madrid, benzema and ronaldo play but ronaldo is more of a winger, though just gets into good positions.Barca, bayern,Man utd,man city, liverpool,Juventus all don’t use two strikers.Take your pick.

We need a winger, and i’m desperate for the club to sign zaha otherwise it would be another oppurtunity wasted. He’s the best you’ll get being a non-CL club.So act fast!!
