I think this was a no brainier. As far as I am concerned he deserved it any way but my thinking is even if you don’t think he does this does not mean we can’t sack him. The club is in a much better place and although it’s been painful along the way and he has made mistakes I am happy with the job he has done so far and think he can take us on although I think we will still have our ups and downs!

He will not get us anywhere unless we bring in good strikers and another top cm.

Then again that would be true for any manager.

There are things i like about Arteta but also things I dont like. So for me Im in between on him.

Sure Steve he can be sacked at any point it just costs more. At the moment he is doing ok so I would not have wanted him sacked but he will be out of excuses after this summer and so will Edu.

Don’t known about a “no brainier.” It’s the hierarchy that have no brains. Why the rush? Is Arteta going to walk?! He has come out and said it was offered after our 3 straight defeats recently! Classic crap Kroenke management. If we “only” get EL does he deserve a new contract with presumably more money? Remember our reveal are now Utd, Spurs and West Ham and Leicester. All have had European football. We have not, nor have we had any other distractions like Cup games. Also Spurs and Utd sacked their managers in the season, Leicester have had crippling injuries and the Hammers’ owners have not supported their manager with new players. The minimum requirement therefore for Arteta was 6th. If we get 4th give him a new contract, but with the season ending in two weeks why now?! He’s still got much to learn, so no idea why he’s got it prematurely.

Meant to type rivals obviously. Also, since 2012, the club has the fifth largest net spend in Europe(£583m) with only Utd and City in England and PSG and Barcelona above us. have we had value for money in 10 years, given we also charge the highest prices in Europe? That’s obviously not all on Arteta, but he has spent £250m since he’s been here and we get pennies for transferring players out. I hear that Bellerin might got for £5-10m and others similar ridiculous small amounts. Who is responsible? Don’t just say Edu, who is he accountable to? No-one up top with any nous.

Everybody knows he and the club have made mistakes and as well as all the positives. The amount of money is irrelevant. Our worst case scenario is he has a shocker we sack him and we have to keep paying him for another 3 years max. It won’t stop us getting any other manager and also if he has a blinder and City come calling we will get a few pence back in compensation assuming he jumps ship. As I said surely No Brainer ???

Oh dear, we just never learn. Jeff, you are spot on, why do this now before the end of the season? Whilst it looks like we will finish 4th because those around us have been dogshit (but don’t bet on it). How silly will they all look if we fluff it now? However, we know his remit was Europa which shows how much we lack ambition after spending a shit load of money and keeping our squad until we chose to sell/loan them in January with no replacements… what a joke we are. But hey, when we get smashed in Champ League and finish outside of top 4 next season, will you all see this as a good idea? I will come back on here at the end of next season and say I was wrong if the golden one proves me wrong. This guy is a fraud. Remember that Emery got sacked for less and wasn’t financially backed like this. Each to their own and I respect your views so respect mine even if they go against the narrative. The only winner in all this is Arteta as when he flops he gets a pay off.

I don’t understand this club’s decision making To be honest. And I have nothing against Mikel. The guy made mistakes in the transfer market but the fact is he has overachieved with this squad up until now.I have backed him in his worse times here, being amongst the very very few.

However, what’s this logic?Apparently our plan and “target” is to actually achieve top 4 next season, and not this season. So whatever target was set(I’m presuming Europa) it has been acheived. However,I will find it a failure if we don’t achieve it this season itself considering varoious factors such as lack of mid week football that has worked to our advantage.
However,if the plan is to achieve it next season, and we fail does that mean both of them should get the sack.Arteta and Edu that is.If so,then why offer him a new contract? And doing it on the back end of 3 losses?Need i remind you that no person(including the manager) is bigger than the club and managing a club of such Huge stature and tradition should be an honour. Are they trying to make mikel feel good?

I would’ve waited until the end of the season atleast. To be honest,I still don’t trust our recruitment esespcially at the hands of Donkey Edu guiding him. He’s going to waste funds again.

Good clubs make pro-active decisions not reactive. This season was merely a fluke,it’s one of those 9 out of 10 times you’re most likely not going to get the same result and that’s purely down to negligence and ignorance in the trasnfer market.

Now that we’re guaranteed mid week games next season in Europe,if this club dosen’t bulk it’s squad,we’re in for an absolute disaster.

It’s funny because Mikel worked at city so one would assume he would know what it takes to compete at the highest level but he has ignored certain things that no other manager would have.

Simple point – We need a big summer. And not just one or two good signings but atleast 5-6 incomings.Don’t depend on young players. They’re there. They perform it’s a bonus. It will be a win-win.But if they don’t then all blame will lie with them.

Who is happy that this idiot had been given a new contract? Clueless charlatan who has no idea of management. The prat has arrogantly got rid of personnel and not got any replacements. He sickens me, Pep’s iPad man.
