We should have a look at that Brentford striker, his big, quick, hard working and scores goals. That’s the way to go instead of always looking for big expensive names that never pay off.

Too many draws and losses at home this season have dragged Tuchel down. I am therefore not surprised with those statistics. Still, in 14 months we all know how successful he has been overall so I personally would be willing to persevere with him after an expected spending spree and a chance to strengthen the squad and also be afforded the benefit of a once again fit pair of Chilwell and James doing their thing marauding up and down the wings. I think it is extremely important that we give Rudiger what he wants and keep him at Chelsea. We saw how poor they were without him and a duo combination of either Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho against Arsenal.

Thanks 67, for years I have been trying to put a pic up!

Touching on transfers we sold Tomori and Gheui who I think were better than Sarr and Christensen.
I never wanted Lukaku back, we saw how he played at Man U, was hoping he would prove me wrong.

I am hoping Chilly hasn’t lost a couple of yards.

Agreed re Rudiger and also start looking for a replacement for Silva

We really do need a proper number 9, but cant think of anyone out there?

Ah my instructions were easy enough to follow-excellent, well done srilankanlion 🙂

Yes, Silva can’t do it all on his own however he and Rudiger together are solid. The trouble is Silva can pretty much only do it once a week these days so, yes, we need quality cover at centre back and apart from these two the rest are dodgy, especially when the mid field is porous as we found out v Arsenal. Field our best fully fit eleven against that Arsenal side and we’d win most times and make them look pedestrian. We sent out a side that they exploited to the max with the few pacey players of quality they have at their disposal but I think injuries to key players and then the players selected and formation utilised played into their hands and they took full advantage of it. Very disappointed at the moment. As I said in another post, it’s not as if we have an upcoming two legged CL semi to concern ourselves about and therefore all things being equal the best available side should be playing every match from here on in. No need to take chances with squad rotation that isn’t necessary and doesn’t suit the occasion and the opposition. Sadly, Rudiger was injured though, not just rested as is Kovacic and I think they are also both out for West Ham so Tuchel needs to come up with the answers. We still have a rather large squad to pick a winning side from, just get the formation and tactics right. That is where Tuchel comes in!!

Delighted that Forest Green Rovers have been promoted being a vegetarian myself. A brief history the club and owner Dale Vince, meat is banned from the ground and the players are not allowed to eat meat as well. Vince has also introduced a number of different eco-friendly developments at the club including the installation of solar panels on its New Lawn home ground, the use of a solar-powered robot grass mower, and the creation of the world’s first organic football pitch. Even their togs are made from eco friendly material. In 2015 Vince revealed Forest Green were using a player recruitment method similar to the ‘Moneyball’ model that had been initially used in baseball to sign players by using computer-generated analysis. In October 2015, Forest Green became the world’s first all vegan football club.

Anybody know what happens if a team gets reduced to 9 players from two send offs in a knockout match that goes through extra time to penalties and then the penalty shootout is all level after 9 taken? The team with 11 still have 2 players that can take them the other team have exhausted theirs. Has something like that ever happened before? Watching womens football Morocco v Nigeria that are down to 9 and they are entering extra time now. It will be interesting to see what happens if it remains 1-1 and that eventuates.

I would think the 9 just go from the beginning again.

Right so the team with eleven only use nine of their players and leave two out all together.

Slightly different subject guys, just throwing in for discussion.

Frank gave a podcast interview and revealed some more about his final days at Chelsea.

Do you reckon in the coming months we may have a number of updated Biographies with a similar slant now that the Roman era is over and the old guards have all moved on.

I would not be surprised if publishers and ghost writers have been trying to persuade Jose, Scolari, Conte, AVB etc etc to take sometime to work with them!!

Moving away from the transfer page so as to keep more in tune with the heading of the thread.

Can anyone name me ONE player just ONE who has improved significantly since Lampard left?

There is a Manager out there who has had 5 transfer windows to date with his present premier league club.

In those 5 windows he has spent gross the grand total of 100 million.

His team has finished in 5th place twice, 8th once, won the FA Cup, and been to a European Semi Final. In those windows he has been able to develop a player who some tit is willing to pay over 80 million for.

His CV shows he was part of the team that established one of the most successful Youth Academys of its generation.

Oh did I mention his FA Cup win was against Chelsea.

Forget Fofana, start talking to Leicester about Brendan.

Tuchel is aware of the problems with the Chelsea team but has not being able to solve them is the major concern for us, the fans.
Recall the 3 trophies he won and observe that he was only able to score just one goal against Man City and was lucky to defend it, then in the other 2 he couldn’t win at regulation time but were also lucky at the penalty shootouts which could have gone either way. Same thing he did against Liverpool at the 2 cup finals last season and lost both, as no one can depend on luck all the time.
With his pattern of play of not feeding strikers to score, the pressure bounces back on team as the defenders will then start going forward to look for goals and any counter attack become dengerous for the team. Tuchel does not have any come back plan from defeat, the team does not know how to react as there is no bounce back mechanism yet it knocks the ball backwards and sideways all the time creating more pressure on itself. The opposition will always try to take the lead against Chelsea and the best we can get will be a draw, this is because his philosophy of how to win games in the EPL has been well read by other teams and they are deploying a counter mechanism against him.
Tuchel sent Abraham away when the team is in dire need of a potent striker and then bought Lukaku for so much yet didnt use him, he also had Werner whom he always played out of position. Same with Harvetz. Well half the team is played out of position.
Now he wants Aubameyang, with his style of play, I hope he does not flop like others before him. I will 100% support Tuchel when he starts getting regular positive results. The team and club come first not individuals.

Probably one of your best posts Moos. You must be off the grog. Well done. Majority is factual and I have been questioning what TT has been on about this season so far. Thinking the late activity in the market has unsettled is train of thought and he is searching for the right formula when that should have been done in pre=season as that is what pre-seasons are supposed to be for. Hopefully he’ll sort it out and get the side functioning sooner rather than later. Liverpool seem to be on tilt too so its pleasing to see it’s not just us. And oh, United will tilt again moving forward. That was a one off against Liverpool. I doubt they can string two efforts like that in a row. Arsenal worry me though. They are looking good for an extended run not just early season form. If we can’t win any title we at least have to finish in front of those other London clubs. That is a priority every season.

Well there goes our hopes in one of the domestic cups before we even kick a ball. Horrendous draw – probably the worst possible.

67, Cup Draws don’t come any tougher than City away let’s hope the CL draw later on today is a bit kinder to us.

I won’t dig out Tuchel he has my support and apart from what he’s helped us achieve on the pitch he steered us through very troubled waters during the sanctions saga.

That’s not to say Tuchel doesn’t make mistakes all Managers do but it’s sad to see Chelsea fans turning on him given the totality of his tenure at Chelsea both on and off the pitch.

As for team selection Tuchel picks his team’s based on what he and his Coaches see on the training pitch something none of us see. And shock horror players not playing regularly get dissatisfied!

The Summer transfer window has been frustrating for us but we had the disruption of the sanctions to cope with, we also had a lot to do and we lost a monster player in Rudiger we’re also not the only Club to suffer frustrations in this window.

Winning the CL in 2021 wasn’t lucky and winning the CL is more than just about winnng CL Final where Chelsea managed to hold probably the best offensive team in Europe to nil there were also great wins v Sevilla away,Atletico Madrid over both legs and Real Madrid in the Semi Final. Winning the CL in 2021 was a fantastic achievement and the team did us proud in the Final imo.

Pushing players like Gilmour forward for selection is a nonsense imo he’s not in the first team squad he had a dreadful season last season at Norwich and he got dropped by Scotland in the Summer Gilmour is a long way from a start at Chelsea and he may well not be at the Club from September 1st.

We are only 3 games into the season after 6 months of the most difficult circumstances a Club could ever face had things turned out differently we could even be extinct now and there’s still 7 days of the transfer window to go too.🤞
