zico – In terms of the scorpion and the frog which one is Jose? I agree if he is the scorpion and Martial is the frog in that its in Jose’s nature to dispose of young talent for ready made replacements all the while telling Martial that he has a future at the club.

Jose has criticised Shaw (21) publicly, sold Depay (22), is doing little to help Martial (21), bought Zlatan (35) at the expense of Rashford (19), continues with Carrick (35) over Schneiderlin (27), continues with Valencia (31), refuses to sell Young (31), refuses to let Fosu-Mensah (19) go out on loan but doesn’t give him any first team opportunities.

Anyone see a pattern with age here?

I see a pattern manthistle…he’s rooting out the lily livered, childish culture that had took hold of our football club where for many of the players their own failure was always somebody else’s fault.

Really sorry but Mourinho has turned a fucking massive corner in the fortunes of this football club and if he has to rely on real men to do the job then so be it. Martial, all the talent in the world but seems like the sort of soft shite that if the wind is blowing from the north and it is a half moon then it might not be the right day for him. Diddums. Funny, but you were fine last season before you cheated on your childhood sweetheart.

I feel sorry for Luke Shaw but the fact is the Thursday afternoon before the Reading game he was told he would be in the starting line up but on Friday afternoon “his people” informed United he was feeling sick and wouldn’t be able to play. Seems to me he isn’t right in the head after his injury but Mourinho can’t wait forever.

Sometimes you just have to back the manager to do what is right and Maureen has my support…certainly over young lads who have so far achieved very little in their young careers. He’s managing the biggest football club in the world not a fucking nursery.

I’m liking Mourinho’s logic re Martial (and I suppose Shaw also) – you are getting a chance against Wigan. This is your chance. Play well and you start the next game. Both players have the talent. Hopefully both grasp this chance and make the most of it. They could form the most dangerous left wing in the league.

Perfect time and game for Martial and Shaw to have a convincing performance and show Jose they should be both a part of United`s future.

Shaw and Martial together is a liability, neither cant defend. They have conceded mpre goals than they have scored.

Both only 21 years old. Mourinho will teach them how to defend 😉

JM reputation as a great football manager is dependent on his ability to turn these two players into quality footballers.

If he can’t do that, if his man-management skills are not of the standard of Busby and Ferguson, then he will never go down in history as one of the best football managers, irrespective of what he wins.

Jose is a vast improvement on the last 2 managers but I find it curious that the more talented players such as Martial and Shaw have regressed this season and the fundamentally less talented players like Rojo and Jones have improved immensely?

Mental application Yorkshireman200. Martial and Shaw are delicate flowers, Rojo and Jones are tough, solid lads who have responded well to Mourinho’s demands. I do feel for Luke Shaw in particular but I think he’s got too many sympathetic voices around him. Football is a brutal business and the reality is that a shoulder to cry on is not going to get him ahead. I honestly think the best thing for him would be to go back to Southampton and make a really good career for himself.

TS7, you may have a valid point but given our other options at LB I’m still hoping Shaw will make it at OT but he will certainly have to toughen up. The same goes for Martial who needs to start enjoying life, smile a bit, grow a pair while at the same time keep his pecker in his pocket! Having said that, I’d certainly swap him in a heartbeat for Veratti.

Is that even on the table though? A swap with Veratti I mean, not his pecker! Not heard even a rumour on that but yes I’d take it too.

I agree about Shaw, if he can become the player many people believe he is then that is the ideal solution, Christ we need a player there. But waiting another season and possibly another after that for him to get his head right isn’t an option for me. The Darmian experiment there is terrible and has to stop, Rojo is an awful full back and Blind is clearly not fancied. A decade up and down that flank is beckoning and I hope he is buzzing on that, plays against Wigan and never looks back.

The problem will be if both players play well, a la martial v boro, but they still get dropped for the following match.

Mourinho has publically said if Martial plays well he will start against Hull. Can’t see him not keeping his word.

Manthisle Jose has said if martial plays well against Wigan he starts against Hull. Like you though I can see him playing well tomorrow and Hull then when we play Leicester I can see Jose dropping him.

Agree TS7, it’s about time someone got these pussys to man up or fuck off. Too many playing on reputation and not enough putting in regular performances. I’m afraid Shaw appears to be a bit of a softie and Martial seems to think he has a divine right to start based on what has been a pretty average bunch of performances. Trouble is, these two are by no means the only ones. Jose needs to weed out the ones that haven’t got the stomach for the fight and bring in those that have. Trouble is getting them. Veratti would be great but it won’t happen. I’m afraid that performance against Hull highlighted just how many strollers we still have.

The problem for me is that martial and Shaw played well last season under lvg. Some players need tough love but some need an arm put around them (cantona for example). Mourinho needs to see this. Sir Alex knew how to manage his players but it’s an ability that Mourinho doesn’t seem to possess.

They were both ok Manthistle. Yeah, Martial’s goal return was good but wasn’t matched by the generally quality of his performances in my opinion. As for Shaw, at no time has he convinced on a consistent basis since we bought him. The jury’s out on both of them for me.

And the less said about life under van Gaal the better manthistle. Shaw also played no more than ten games sonisnt a particularly good example.
