Let’s get back on track here with a win here to boost our confidence for the PL. I’d definitely start Arthur and drop Van Dijk as he’s been a bit off-form, and Klopp might start Jota in for Diaz, or even try 4231.

I really liked what I saw from Nuñez on Saturday, if he keeps it up, and remains disciplined, the goals will flow, hopefully starting here.

    Alisson
    Trent Matip Gomez Robbo
    Elliott Fabinho Arthur
    Salah Nuñez Diaz

Thiago’s back in training, maybe signing Arthur motivated him to recover faster and overcome the pain barrier.

I dawdled putting the kettle on for my second cuppa so wasn’t at the races like I usually am. You win! Lol. Copy and pasting my contribution.

No clue what to expect here whatsoever. A blistering performance or an easy away win or a dire struggle with a defeat/low scoring draw.

We’ve never won in Napoli. We drew 0-0 in the Europa League 12 years ago and then two defeats in the CL losing 1-0 to a last minute Insigne goal fours years ago (now plying his trade with Toronto FC) and then a horrible 2-0 loss almost three years ago to the week.

One fella who we will have to keep our eye on (and no doubt will score) is Insigne’s replacement, Kvaratskhelia, who has already banged in 4 goals this season but Napoli have scorers throughout their team.

Currently top of the league after 5 games but one of those matches was an odd slip up at home to Lecce who managed to come away with a point so a chance for sure.

    Who will start?

Alisson, Trent, Matip, VVD, Robbo, Fabinho, Arthur, Elliott, Diaz, Firmino and Mo is who I’m going for using Arthur for his experience of playing in Serie A.

As I’ve mentioned before, when I don’t have a jar which way it will go I go for a draw so 1-1 it is.

Don’t worry Rob, it’s not a competition, I very rarely start match threads, as that is your forte.

As for your team, I’d start Nuñez instead of Firmino, as he is more of a threat. Napoli are formidable opponents, so of course it will be very tough.

Whatever he does, he’s got to start Nunez. The best chance we have of him settling in, is to play as many minutes as he can.

I can tell you’re fickle, jumping from one thread to another. This one was started first, so let’s just go with it, and as I told Rob earlier, I very rarely ever start a match thread (same as you).

I agree Mak, I would be tempted to start Nunez too in a…..wait for it…4231!

    Usual Back 5
    Fabinho, Arthur
    Salah, Firmino, Diaz
    Nunez

    Why not?

How delicate? I made a little joke and you start calling me fickle? Any old excuse to get in a bit of name calling eh.

Rob, I’m shocked! 4231, never heard you mention it. You know though, it might well be in the CL that Klopp tries this out (as a starter, in a while anyway).

Songman created a false thread to troll Rob, dont worry about it. I refuse to allow him to usurp it, or maybe I will?

In this thread we can develop all our positive thoughts and in the other, all the negative.

Reds, I never said he was 100% playing. Mentioning that his knowledge of the league might be valuable is all.

Mak, i really think arthur is playing because we dont have a choice. Fabinho is the only senior midfielder we have left. Milner’s too old.
