Right fellas, this is my last ditch attempt to give our YourSay community the kiss of life and bring it back from the dead. Hopefully I’m not p*ssing in the wind, if I am this will categorically be my last ever post on here.

We’ve all unanimously agreed the new TeamTalk format, in particular YourSay, is awful. The new ‘thread’ layout, which fragments every conversation, only works on the ‘big clubs’ pages, and even then it’s a pain in the back side to click back and forth to view different opinions. There should be ONE page for ALL posts, like before…so I’ve created this ‘General YourSay’ page for all things SAFC related (a few other clubs pages have somewhat successfully done this).

Hopefully the powers that be soon realise that having the newest posts appear first is far more sensible and user friendly than forcing members to click through countless posts they’ve already read to reach the most recent point of reference.

I do feel for Mark Holmes and co at TeamTalk (they’ve obviously had their hands tied by new management), but it is extremely frustrating when they point blank refuse to accept it’s the new layout that is the serious problem, not the fact that the YourSay page was down for one month and that “old members haven’t found their way back yet”. Old members HAVE found their way back…I’ve seen plenty of you voice similar concerns on here. There should be far more conversation being generated, but we simply can’t be bothered with the new layout.

Anyway, maybe this won’t even be a problem for us for to much longer as – the new page doesn’t even cover Championship teams nor offer a YourSay page for them, and we may well be there come next season!

Moaning aside…I thought the point at Anfield may prove to be invaluable and may give us the spark to go and beat Manchester United next weekend. The 3 K’s (Kone, Kirchoff and Khazri) all look very promising and Defoe seems to be going through a real purple patch. We have to play at our best for the remainder of the season to even have a chance of staying up, but I think we CAN do it. Right now it’s two of us, Newcastle and Norwich to join Villa in the bottom three, but between now and the end of the season a lot can change. I’ve a feeling West Brom are going to be sucked right into the scrap. Thoughts?

milton – I’m happy enough to give it a go either in the General format or in the Topic format. What we need for now is contributors. A very valuable point Saturday – not one we’d necessarily have expected but one that was always there for the taking given Liverpool’s unpredictability. Generally impressed with Kone but at fault for their second goal – as much as Jones I’d say. It will be interesting to see how Big Sam goes at RB for Man U as Jones has been weak there the last two games at least and I genuinely believe Yedlin can offer something. I’m not sure what happens with AJ this weekend – I’d assume he’s out given he’ll be “distracted” during the week and unable to train – he’ll be missed as he’s on form. Need at least a point v Man U and 5 from the next 3. I think West Brom will be safe but still have a sneaky feeling that Watford could be sucked back in – that said they only need a couple of results and they’re more than capable of getting them.

Correct about Kone being at fault for one goal, but I’ve seen enough of him now to see he’s a genuine improvement on what we’ve had in defence…and judging by his instagram and facebook accounts, he’s a terrific attitude and and seems to actually WANT to play for the club, something a lot of our squad has ashamedly been lacking in.

We simply have to avoid defeat against United to keep this little bit of momentum going, the good performance vs Man city and the point at Anfield have to mean something and losing at home next Saturday will make them redundant.

With regards to Watford, I can’t see them being in any trouble at all, they’ve 13 games to pick up only 7 points and they’ll be at the hallowed 40 point mark. As it stands we’re 20 points off that landmark. West Brom have looked dire for weeks, and they’re remaining fixtures will heap pressure on Pulis who is very really starting to feel the heat off the Baggies supporters.

Good to see an actual discussion taking place mate…hopefully we’ll see plenty more.

milton…….I just hope that our set up against Man U does not mean having 10 men behind the ball for 90 mins ….we need to play like we did against City, but hit the target more often. That said, I suppose I would settle now for a draw, but in my experince in life, to get anything at all, you have to aim for the level above you would settle for. We must get something as there is a two week gap before next game, and this weekend result will have a massive mental set for the lads over that 2 weeks……not to mention getting points of course.

I agree cheshire – it will be interesting to see how Sam sets up. I’d go 4-1-3-2 as follows Pickford, Yedlin, O’Shea, Kone, Van Aanholt, Kirchhoff, Lens, M’Vila, Khazri, Borini, Defoe. I can’t see him playing Pickford so likely Mannone but I think Pickford offers more in his distribution and I’m not sure he’s inferior on shot stopping etc. Looks like Johnson has played his last game for us so overall we’re running a bit short on the creative side of midfield. We need to make sure we don’t lose ground on any of the 5 above us and the best way to do that is to win.

I like Pickford too Northern, but like you’ve said he’ll play Mannone (who has never convinced me)…I rate Pantilimon as twice the goalkeeper he is. I similarly like the look of Yedlin too, but I think he’s far too attack minded for a game we must not lose so I’d stick with Jones at right back, after Saturday I’d play Yedlin for the remainder of out fixtures. Kaboul, Lens and Watmore are all injured and I’m expecting Johnson to be sacked within the fortnight, so my starting XII would be a 4-1-2-3 of:

    GK) Mannone
    RB) Jones
    CB) O’Shea
    CB) Kone
    LB) Van Aanholt
    DM) Kirchoff
    CM) M’Villa
    CM) Cattermole
    ML) Borini
    MR) Khazri
    ST) Defoe

We CAN win this game, teams throughout the season have shown how vulnerable United are. If we do get 3 points, I have every confidence we’ll stay up…lose and it’s going to be the hardest of our last 3 great escapes. The margins are that fine.

Great result, great (mostly) performance. The new lads have made a massive difference, and considering how long they have been here its nowt short of amazing. 2 weeks gap, and I believe they are off to the sun…get them going for the restart. t time of writing we are nly 10 mins into 3 pm kick offs, so lets hope we get another boost there. Haway the Lads.

First time on Your Say for over 6 weeks because I hate the current format. Saw this new General thread and thought I’d give it a go, however, I am not optimistic that it will work. 36 hours after a simply fantastic win and only 1 post before this. Hope it gets better, just as I hope the Lads can keep playing with as much passion as yesterday. Kone’s header reminded me so much of Charlie Hurley charging forward from defence for corners. Great stuff. Week end almost perfect with the Mags getting stuffed and Villa getting slaughtered.

As already said a great performance and thoroughly well deserved result on Saturday. We need to back it up with a result against the Hammers – a point would be fine. That goal should definitely count for Kone – I can’t remember the last time I saw one of our defenders power in a header like that. Really pleased with Yedlin’s performance – only a couple of mistakes that I saw and surely he keeps his place.

Well it’s my first post regarding Adam Johnson…I shan’t go into the legalities of the case as it’s simply too serious for a football forum. I’ll solely talk about his footballing ability. For me, he’s never consistently performed for Sunderland and had never found his true position within any formation. He also hasn’t looked fit to me for a couple of seasons and I think his best days on the pitch were well and truly before we signed him. The club has done the right thing, I don’t think we’ll miss him during our run in and it frees up a MASSIVE chunk of wages for incoming in the summer.

On a separate note, seeing as there’s no Premiership fixtures this weekend I thought I’d jump on a league table predictor website http://www.worldfootball.net/table_calculator/eng-premier-league/ and bash in my forecasts. My bottom 6 came out as follows:

    P W D L GF:GA GD Pts
    15 Sunderland 38 9 11 18 45:64 -19 38
    16 Newcastle Utd 38 9 11 18 39:63 -24 38
    17 Swansea City 38 8 13 17 31:48 -17 37
    18 AFC Bournemouth 38 9 8 21 40:65 -25 35
    19 Norwich City 38 8 9 21 39:68 -29 33
    20 Aston Villa 38 3 9 26 26:68 -42 18

I’d be curious to see anybody else’s prediction….

milton…….regarding the predictor game…I have nevered bothered with this as I have found over the years that teams (The lads being a prime example) always seem to win games they “shouldn’t”, and lose games they “shouldn’t” what I do look at is how many points I think are needed to survive. 38 seems the common guess to be safe at present, but I think it could be less. By your predictor, 36’points would be safe, and I think that this may be more accurate this year….. Although I have a sneaky feeling that it could be decided on goal difference.

milton – regarding AJ I think it was obvious that he raised his game when he felt he needed to but he’s been coasting for far too long in particular his tendency to simply trot and watch players accelerate away from him rather than put some effort in to catch them when we were out of possession – infuriating and not untypical of SAFC in general the last few seasons. It was never going to wash with Sam and it was only a question of whether he was going to see the season out or whether the court case was going to finish his SAFC career as it has. I’ll have a look at the predictor league sometime and see how it goes.

Ok,have to break the silence sooner or later, and might as well be after a 3-0 win. Lets not kid ourselves, there’s a lot to do yet, but the opposition has no easy run in either, so, Its now firmly up to us. Scares the hell out of me how often we just give the ball away, hopefully this absolutely essential win will gve them mre cnfdence (but not too much just yet).

Alright cheshire – just spotted your message, keep looking on here for signs of life but not much. Great result, decent performance and vital 3 points as you say. Game on with the mags winning and then picking up a point v City. Need to produce a result in the next 3 games which ordinarily you wouldn’t fancy but it’s SAFC and at this time of the season it’s anyone’s guess – the sooner the better for me. We just need to get above the other two and stay there.

I’m one of the “old contributors” who has “found his way back” & I think it’s safe to say I won’t be coming back again. Far from being “improved” this Your Say is pitiful. Clearly what was once a thriving forum is now as dead as the dinosaurs.

Despite the horrible system of these pages now, which, by the way, claims that our next game is away to Watford on the 15th ???, and just about sums everything about it…….I just had to congratulate The Lads on a terrific second half….Work like that more often and we would be way up the table. Lets hope that we can get a win against Everton on 11th, (please take note teamtalk guys), and start planning for next season. Haway the Lads.

Hear!Hear! cheshire – they excelled themselves especially 2nd half today. I’m down for the Everton game en route to fly out to watch Bilbao in the final match of the La Liga season next Sunday – be nice not to have to worry what’s happening at Watford whilst I’m at that match so 3 points Wednesday would be very welcome indeed

Well, the Lads came good when it was really needed, but please lets not have any more of this last ditch stuff. I seel Ellis and Big Sam have a meeting next week re transfers, and of course there is the new money thing.
According to the press, that well known sage of old, Sam already has several lined up. At least he will have the say on who comes and goes, a big plus in my mind, and he didn’t do too badly on the last lot he brought in. So, I am signing off now for this season, and hopefully when we start again we will have a useable system back on here. All the best to those stalwarts who are still on here, and all SAFC fans, wherever they are.
