Net spend doesn’t detract from the fact since 2012 we have spent £1.07b outwards on trying to bring the squad up to Champions League level. The net comes from both in and out and the money in is mostly from selling assets that mostly failed to make an impact on our team.

Look at what PSG and Man City bought with that money, top quality players like Mbappe, Neymar, De Bruyne, Sane etc not overpriced bargin bin Drinkwaters, Zappacosta’s, Pedro’s, Falcao’s, Giroud’s etc

bort since 2012, we also had good acquisitions like Diego Costa, Cesc besides Hazard and Kanté. I think both were very good for us. And we should include David Luiz into that category too and probably Marcos Alonso. And don’t forget that we won Europa, EPL under Jose part deux et under Conte. And 1 FA cup and 1 League Cup. So we weren’t that bad IMO.

For me the most disappointing acquisition would be Morata. 58m for a useless player. All the players you mentioned above except Falcao who was on-loan and Drinkwater weren’t that bad. Remember we bought Djilobodi (who?) and Baba Rahman.

Bort, not sure we have spent that much… City have spent a similar amount. We’ve just sold more players…

Have a look at this site. Quite interesting.

Now there’s talk about buying Aka at a much huger price than we sold him, far too much anyway for an average centre half. Thank goodness I don’t run my home as the club does theirs. I would have been bankrupt long ago.

“Chelsea face a test of Roman Abramovich’s desire to remain as owner, with American financier Todd Boehly continuing to pursue a deal for a Premier League club.

Standard Sport revealed in July that Boehly, former president of asset manager Guggenheim Partners and 20 per cent shareholder in the LA Dodgers baseball team, had shown an interest in Tottenham and Chelsea.

It has now been reported in America that he had had an offer for the Blues rejected by Abramovich.

Chelsea did not respond to a request for comment on Tuesday morning when asked to confirm the existence of a bid which was reportedly made last month.” ??? Evening Standard 10/12.
