Don’t forget it’s all about the infrastructure of the club and making the club the best run club in the Premier league (Hollis statement last week)!!!!! What from the Championship?? It beggars belief!

Our club is run by men in suits, it’s all about figures and finances, sadly the love of the game and the passion of the fans is lost on them, the new Chairman even had the nerved to say we are customers! NO actually we’re loyal supporters who pay good money to watch poor performances week in week out.

When are they going to grasp that we can keep adding numbers to the board and coaching staff but to win games you actually need quality players on the pitch and our current squad is sadly lacking!

i have seen no talk of forwards or midfielder coming , which is what we need .

there is talk of goalkeepers and defenders where we are now well stocked .

    something is wrong somewhere .

we have the worst defence in league, so we may be ‘well stocked’ but quite clearly there is a deficiency.. personally I’m glad Guzan has been dropped..(unbeaten since he was, although I think he played against the mighty Wycombe at home) for 2 years he has been very poor.. Goal keeping is more than just pulling off a Wonder save once a match. Im not convinced Bunn Is the long term answer.. off his line and at crosses he is not great!

Completely agree though we need a centre midfielder and a couple of strikers.. I still think players are hanging out for better offers and clubs are seeing if they can sell players before they will loan.. meaning we won’t do any business until Monday..

sad reflection on players and our club that players think joining Bournemouth, Norwich, Leicester,Southampton, Watford and Sunderland etc is more appealing than joining Villa.. even 4 years ago I wouldn’t have entertained this would be true! What has happened to our great great club!?

The defence definitely needs improvement. But if we can’t get someone in who is a real threat in the other end it doesn’t really matter.

The thing that I think has stood out in the last couple of games (and seen glimpses of earlier) is the fact that we don’t have to chase the game and the defence is under less preassure, it deals with most. The problem is that when the pressure comes (and it always does at some point during a game) everyone starts to panic. Hoofballs straight back to the opposing team, unnecessary corners and/or dangerous free kicks around the penalty area.

So yes, I think we need at least one defender that won’t succumb to panic, that has the calm to clear the ball with intent. But to really take the pressure off we need a danger guy up front to make sure that the other team has to think of defence too. As it is now the can pretty much leave two defenders at the back, and no matter what happens, we will not get a shot at goal (ok, a bit harsh, but you get the pint).

    why ???????????

he offers a threat up front , something we are very short on .

we need that up front .

we need 3 points in many games now .

we need goals to get 3 points , that come with more threat up front .

The fact of the matter is this we leak goals and can’t score any. We are neat and tidy with no penetration. There is no bite or fight. Nobody will want to move to us with an owner who couldn’t careless and such a poor squad. we have no leaders on the pitch and no leaders of it – if we were a boat we’d be a massive tanker with no radar navigation or rudder! This talk of Gabby is nonsense – he’s been past it for four years and frankly doesn’t seem interested unless he’s on the telebox. I would ask the question if he wasn’t a local lad done good would we even consider having him anywhere near the squad?

We could sign De Gea, Silva, Alba, Busquets, Bale, Ronaldo, Messi, Alves Ramos and Varane and it would still result in us going down because of what’s left of the season and the dismal points tally we have. Plan for the championship, prepare young hungry players and blood them now, start to line up some hard headed seasoned pros who know the championship and can lead and galvanise the team.

We make not come straight back up but at least we can enjoy the ride with loads of local games potentially being, Blues, Derby, Forest, Burton, Walsall, the Dingles, in a league were we can at least aspire to achieving something rather than saying ‘well 15th would be a good result’!

Blood the kids, plan for next season with seasoned hardened pros and get rid of the dead wood, and fair weather players.
