ive never said this before , but the xmas games really are must-wins .

hopefully cissokho is back to strengthen the defense.

i suggest traore should start , and if we arent 2 or 3 goals up by half time . take him off then – he is our only explosive talent up front .

and we need a chunk of luck on our side , we arent playing badly but if luck goes against , weve had it .

I agree about Traore, he’s a raw talent who’s got explosive pace and can frighten a defence, he’s exactly what we’ve been missing. We need to create more goal scoring opportunities which will lead to more goals.

I feel with the Newcastle game today we can’t afford to sit back and give there players space to play. I’d like to see us play on the front foot with pace and go after them from the whistle.

We’ll need some fight and spirit to save us from the drop and hopefully we’ll see that today!

At half time I was saying to myself “no passion, no inspiration, and no goals in this team”. But the second half was a revelation. Admittedly Newcastle had the better chances to win the game, but the level of performance from Villa went up several notches. Unfortunately, it was really a must win game for AV and I don’t see any way back for them this season. Top priority has to be a goal scorer but who could be persuaded to come in with the club in this position?

Doesn’t look too promising for you although the second half was a big improvement. Maybe if you win the next 3 fixtures there may still be some hope so don’t give up yet.

could this be a turning point ?

we had a big slice of luck when dejong missed.

ayew is starting to show he could be a top player .

    gestede was much better .

i think we were better with 4 midfielders .

veretout is more impressive than gana now , he really looks the part as well , but neither are great defenders , so the addition of westwood may help that .

someone has to start getting goals .

pretty much agree with your last point Jackd.. I think Gana and Sanchez give ball away way too much at this level.. veratout and Westwood are tidy and at least gana brings a drive to our midfiled.. just need to keep ball better but sanchez is always an accident waiting to happen
