If we show a similar level of commitment as Wednesday night but take our chances we might have half a chance of taking something from this game.
I would be tempted to retain Lewis Hall at left wing back.
November 11, 2022 at 7:58 pm #2152227I remember going to the Newcastle v chelsea 95/96 fa cup reply. Alos went to the first game. What a journey went from stamford bridge on a coach, quiet a few people were drinkink water! Alcohol was not allowed, so people were drinking vodka lemonade etc. Took ages to get their, brillant game brillaint atmosphere, after the game they sang the blaydon races which was fantastic. We then got the coach back. Great couple of days. Been to plenty of other away games and in europe too. Amazing what people go through to see their team. Admittedly dont go any more dont get the same buzz. If we manage to convert some chances or create some we might win. Think Lewis Hall shoud play.
November 11, 2022 at 10:25 pm #2152245Can’t we play without resorting 5 at the back? Just asking. Why can’t we make use of our talented forwards? You can’t expect our forwards to produce results when they are supported by wingbacks who are defenders like Azpi and Cucurrela? No way would any attacker thrive in that setup. We are wasting our resources to sign only to be deprived of services and outnumbered in attack.
Unless we learn from history, we will be overtaken, imagine we have given up whilst facing Newcastle? How we have fallen from grace is unprecedented. The other thing is, when our attackers make one mistake they are benched, but our sh*t defense is picked. Trust Pulisic and Ziyech, give them a run of games, play them in a system that plays to their strength, and see the result. But will our incompetent coach realise that?
November 12, 2022 at 8:23 am #2152268Chelsea Chronicles predicted line up below for the Newcastle game which is probably not too far away personally I would like to see Lewis Hall be given another opportunity at left wing back after his showing v City, according to Potter there’s a chance Jorginho might be fit but maybe that will be from the bench.
Chelsea Chronicles predicted Chelsea line-up.
Mendy
Chalobah Silva Koulibaly
Azpilicueta Kovacic Loftus-Cheek Cucurella
Mount Aubameyang SterlingNovember 12, 2022 at 3:45 pm #21523679, My side would have Hall, Gallagher and Havertz in for Cucurella, Aubameyang and Sterling. I cannot see us getting anything from a good Newcastle side, but Brentford beat City so who knows. I think we are currently stymied by injuries and the lack of form of some players, I expect better after the World Cup.
I hope you have come through your medical problems by now.
November 12, 2022 at 3:55 pm #2152372Alan. I wouldn’t disagree with that buddie not my team by the way.
Thanks for your good wishes more mobile now but unfortunately my other problem has taken a bit of a wrong turn and I face more treatment.
Never rains but it pours but I remain positive and like the Monkees sang “I’m a believer” 🤞🤞🤞

November 12, 2022 at 6:23 pm #2152419Well it’s half time and just like first half against arsenal we are completely useless in offence. Just like against arsenal I am grateful not to be losing at half time and hoping for a better second half. Hope that’s where the similarities end but I think it’s going to go same way.
Hope for better second half, this is a 6 pointer and we cant afford to lose 🤞
November 12, 2022 at 7:19 pm #2152429We are struggling to score a goal for the last 4 matches, we failed against Brentford, we failed against Arsenal, and we only scored a penalty against United. have we improved? this is long-term destruction, God Save Chelsea!
November 12, 2022 at 7:35 pm #2152430Exactly same as arsenal game. Cant complain too much from defensive POV but offensively we are dreadful.
Glad for the break now, 3 defeats in a row.
November 12, 2022 at 8:09 pm #2152441I was hoping we might scramble a point but Newcastle deserved their win what a good job Eddie Howe has done up there.
I’m glad of the 6 week break I believe we’ll be much better after the break with the injured players back and possibly a couple of signings. 🤞🤞🤞
November 12, 2022 at 9:18 pm #2152454Enjoy the break fellas. Well deserved time away from domestic football and the negativity within. One or two worse than others may I add but, what else is new? Those that disappear in the good times and have a history of it as proven over the last 10 plus years, not just the recent year or two!!
November 12, 2022 at 9:29 pm #2152456As 999 says and people like Lucky no doubt would agree, the break, return from injury of some key players and possibly a signing or two we can expect a substantial change in fortune, improvement in performance and accumulation of points to what we have experienced in recent times this season. Enjoy the World Cup all 🙂
November 12, 2022 at 10:13 pm #2152461Yeah enjoy the break 67 👍
Merry Xmas all 😆
November 13, 2022 at 7:06 am #2152476What a terrible terrible weekend for football connoisseurs, one of the worst ever, Chelsea, City, Everton all lose and to matters worse those boring but evil clubs Liverpool, Arsenal and United win. Luckily I have a lot of inner strength. Now we have to wait a long time for revenge and watch one of the most boring world cups ever. I feel for Potter, job came too early for him and Lampard.
November 13, 2022 at 7:45 am #2152481Not exactly an ideal day was it or for that matter the last couple of weeks have taken a rapid downturn. Why I myself have no idea, I mean the players are not exactly B grade, tbf to Potter he has tried just about everything possible with limited success. Where do we go from here? The owners appear to be as ruthless if not worse than Roman so Potter and Co. need to take care, this break is probably a blessing for them. While a payoff is a hell of a lot of money for us mere mortals think it’s not really that much for the owners. I really hope Potter comes right but it needs to be right away when the season resumes.
November 13, 2022 at 8:06 am #2152485One of the problems is the players that were brought in, I’m not sure who advised Boehly with regards to this but firstly City would have kept Sterling if they believed in him plus I never personally thought that he is a marquee player as stated, Aubameyung is going on 34 and though he was a regular reliable scorer with Arsenal he was never anything special, Cucurella I never really took note of while he was with Brighton but from what I seen so far he has no attributes at all, cannot fathom why he cost so much, Fofana I think is a good buy only problem with him his always injured. Zakaria is on loan only and does not appear to be favoured by Potter or Tuchel, I also don’t see much in him in the couple of games his played, scoring a goal does not automatically make you a good player. Broja and Gallagher have found the going very tough as well. Also long term injuries to probably our best players in Kante, Reece, Chillwill and both keepers have played a big part. So Potter really has it all to do and all these players and problems are not off his doing.
November 13, 2022 at 8:08 am #2152486Anyway I’m watching the cricket world cup final now, hope for some better luck there. Hope rain doesn’t win.
November 13, 2022 at 8:12 am #2152487Yes enjoy the break 67/everyone hopefully there will still be a bit of traffic on the World Cup thread.
