My preference would be Frank Lampard. He loves the club. He is a legend, players will respect him. Fans love him too. So FL and JM without hesitation. It may be 1 year too early for him but as Sarri seems to have asked to join Juve, let’s just all give our support and blessing to FL !

You know what, circumstances make now the perfect time to bring in Frank and hopefully also Jody.

Facts are that we appear to be going down the path of accepting our fate with the transfer ban so I look at it this way.

Frank and Jody bring back the loanees adding to the current squad or what remains after the loss of Eden and have the full off season to cull/lend back out as necessary and name the end result, the squad to represent the club for the next season.

The management have to be realistic and set targets that will ease the pressure on Frank and Jody and enable them to work without fear.

A reasonable target for me then would be at worse mid table however strive, without fear of the sack for missing out, for Europe again.

At the end of the day (or season) Frank and Jody have a season under their belt already and then can buy and sell players and create their own dynasty. A super valuable season for both Manager and Assistant and the club.

The secret obviously, not to get relegated and that should not even be considered a risk with the players we have got. Can’t wait for next season already if it all happens this way.

Having said all that I have a gut feeling that the club is viewing a straight swap with Juventus. Not my preference at all. Maybe the transfer ban will sway it the way of Frank and Jody, especially with Jody’s previous association with the club’s youth. All of a sudden all those boys will see some sort of career path to the top.

Exciting times hopefully a young manager who can identify with young players and build a great team for the future. Transfer ban is now certain so that’s the way to go and about time, We can still perform well with a good mixture of young players and experienced players but they all need to come to the party, not this chance after chance if they not performing. That’s nonsense when players are given so many opportunities especially older experienced players.

Steve Holland being linked with the job in the Daily Mail? Which would make sense from several angles.

Although he’s never been a Number 1 he does know Chelsea the squad and the developing players.

Hang in there pal. Sadly these things happen. Holland doesn’t really have the CV for the job as Manager of Chelsea right now does he. At least Frank has a year at Derby to break him in a little. Interesting times ahead. Have a nice holiday mate. A short break is a thought with me 🙂

At this age and competitve era of the league and CL. i think it will be wise to appoint an experienced figure as Sarri’s successor. because Lampard needs two more seasons to get used to the competitve nature. we can’t compare him to Solskajaer. because Solskajaer has Ferguson behind the scenes. while Lampard doesn’t have that previllege here at Chelsea. and we know the consequence when things go wrong at our club😊.

67, very much appreciated your kind words mate.

Agree with you on Holland although I can understand the reason for the link and I’m also sympathetic to Chelsea mans’s views on Frank above.

I’ve put up the latest betting odds below as they’ve changed a bit.

It’s the sixth anniversary of Jack’s passing on Tuesday and I intend to put up a bit of a tribute to him on the site on Tuesday providing no one objects.

I’m sure Jack would be pleased to know he’s still remembered on the Chelsea site. Cheers 999

999, Wow I can’t believe it’s been six years since Jack passed. One thing I will always remember from his posts was how incredibly optimistic he always was on all things Chelsea, and life in general. Really missed from these pages.

Regarding Sarri, I find myself in a weird position now. As vocal as I was at times in my criticism of him, I now feel rather sad that he’s probably leaving! Not sure why, partly thinking back to how excited I was when he arrived that we were going to see exciting, attacking possession football at the bridge. The fact that we’ve seen glimpses of it makes me wonder if we are missing a trick by not seeing things through for another season. But ultimately, it was his refusal to play RLC and CHO (even though on their rare appearances they were usually the best players on the pitch) until eventually fan (and probably board) pressure caused him to buckle, that makes me think that overall, he needs to go.

Going forward, I’m torn. My head says Allegri, my heart says Lampard. If Holland got the job (unlikely), he’d be sacked before Christmas, imo. Probably a season or two too early for Lampard, but sometimes fate puts you in a position and you need to rise to it, which I’m sure a man of Franks character would be capable of.

While Allegri brought Juve to dunno how many titles: Serie A is far less competitive than Premier League. And look at his aging Juventus. If I were Sarri, I would not go to Juve. An aging team, and big shoes to fill after Allegri. Moreover Sarri’s association with Napoli. He should prefer to put his own mark at Chelsea, whom he just brought to Europa League glory.

However, big chance that fans dislikes of his style and the jeers play part of his decision. Even myself I wanted him out. But it’s Chelsea, we got used to trophies. He won one now, his first, with us. So it may be the best decision for him and for Chelsea to continue while Frank Lampard get 1-2 more years of experience.

If Sarri decides to leave: no Allegri for me. He won’t give chance to youngsters. Give the job to Frank Lampard. Let him learn with us and if we suffer, we suffer together

What will be, will be. We should know fairly soon what direction the club is heading with the manager. Not sure who I prefer to be honest as far as the whole package goes ie. person and experience at the job but, as I have previously mentioned elsewhere, the circumstances of having 40 odd loanees available and a transfer ban looming, if not here already, makes it a no brainer in my opinion really. I’d like to see Jody Morris involved for sure due to his vast knowledge of the youth set up and the players available and probably Frank due to him having had a tough initiation at Derby already. Chelsea’s youth then would most likely see a future for them at the Bridge, a career path so to speak. Simply if the transfer ban sticks immediately we have no option but to integrate loanees with the core experienced squad we already have and give youth a chance also. Who better than those two? Maybe Holland gets involved somewhere too.

A key issue to is the senior management team (the suits) also not to place to much pressure on the management team (coach and assistant and heir team) with expectation. Something like Europe if we can achieve, if not as close as possible to that result.

The odds are pretty much loaded on a choice of two. If Jose is third favorite then forget the rest because Jose and Chelsea is a broken marriage, not once but twice, surely not. Someone must know something for certain if Frank is a 1/2 favorite.

I read that Ferguson was upset because the club and Solksjaer have not called on him for any advice at all since his retirement. He feels alienated. Not sure how true that is. I do however understand the fact that he is there if needed however one would have thought that when OGS took over in late December with the side in disarray, Ferguson being called upon to assist would have been a given, even more so when the side crashed and burnt toward the tailend of this season under OGS’s leadership.

Agree with 67 I wouldn’t want Mourinho for a third time. Frank being odds on does look a bit spooky.

For the good of everyone from Sarri down I hope things get settled one way or another shortly.

Personally I still think that Frank being made manager of Chelsea is far too early in his career regardless of all the goodwill he will bring with him

I have read that Allegri is under consideration as is Holland as well but must admit my preference would be for Sarri to stay, but he seems intent on leaving. Cannot believe that Jose is a 3rd choice either but maybe the bookies know something we do not…?

Regardless, if the odds are proven to be correct and Frank becomes the manager then he will have my full support and with Jody there would be a recognition and understanding of what the youth can bring to the squad and at least Derby did try to play attractive attacking football. And if Petr does get appointed as well then there should be less friction in terms of the whole chain from manager to the board. Just want the Club to make a quick decision so whomever is appointed has the best possible start to next season. KTBFFH

The perfect summary as always 1905.

Like you I would prefer to see Sarri give it another season given the signs that his football philosophy was beginning to bear fruit at times and how much he would have learned from his first season but seemingly he wants to go and the Club aren’t inclined to stop him?

Not a fan but Sarri has done just about enough yo warrant another season though I doubt there will be much progress considering all the issues, on another sad issue if you are are or are not a supporter of any manager or player you more than entitled to air your views but to grossly insult anyone that has a different opinion shows very poor character and upbringing, need to come right if thats even possible. Back to the manager looks like it will be Lampard or Allegri both who for now I am not convinced about but who else is there!

Not a massive fan either but there are a few green shoots in his philosophy and we have played many 45 minutes where we have looked good. For his achievements this season and the fact that his thinking does appear to be getting through I felt he deserved another chance

However, reading today that Sarri is meeting with Juve representatives in Italy on Wednesday with a view to finalise the move. KTBFFH
