What about keeping Zola on as Lampards assistant thereby releasing Morris to concentrate more on the squads youth players that’s if he comes with.

Nn, makes sense to hang on to Zola imo as Frank will need a wise and experienced head alongside him but Jody is his No 2 and I can’t see that changing and Frank is likely to have the final word on Zola but if not Zola imo he will need someone else.

Be good to get it all signed sealed and delivered now.

I really do not understand the clamour for AZola as IMO, he has done very little as a manager/coach. Obviously a well respected player who will always have a history with the Club but I would prefer to see him as a coach for the attacking midfielders/wingers than anything else

Frank originally chose Jody when he went to derby and they were by and large successful so would appear to work well together. I do not see Frank changing his mind on that one. KTBFFH

I read last night, that Lampard has told the board he doesn’t see Zola as part of his staff and that the club have offered him and ambassadors role, which he has declined. Also the Ballack links are just media speculation, but Frank does want to bring in Drogba and Makalele.

Regarding Lampard, do you think there will be an announcement today lads?

yeah, just taking too long. Hope somewhere next week (already July next week!!) he will be announced but if not: our pre-season will certainly be a disturbed one.

I don’t think it makes sense to keep Zola. Sarri was entitled to his own staff, so should Frank Lampard. And who understands better our youngsters than Jody Morris? Drogba, my feeling is that we need him. Tammy Abraham and also Michy Batshuayi will benefit greatly of Drogba’s experience and advice.

No idea if this is relevant but there are many contracts that expire 30/06 so in a way I could see it making sense if nothing was announced until 01/07…?

Reading mixed reports about Drogs as some claim his role would be the striker coach and others indicate remaining as an ambassadorial role. Personally, I would prefer him to be the striker coach as agree that both Tammy and Michy could learn a great deal

My only concern is that I do not want to just recruit ex Chelsea players out of sentiment. Frank needs a good strong positive team around him and while the Chelsea comradery is a big factor he still needs people who know what they are doing plus those that agree with his philosophy that he will want to bring to Chelsea. Finally!

Every appointment a risk, but there is not a risk I want to see us take more than this one, this is beautiful stuff.

True Lampard class to refuse to hide behind the problems we have and instead big up the players we have and assert we can finish top 4 again this year.

with every smile there is a little sadness as we say good bye to Franco Zola. What a wonderful servant to the club he has been. Forever a legend and a man of undoubted class.

Yes Zola leaving does feel rather sad. But he was very complimentary of the club and wished them the very best of luck. Don’t think he has a single bad bone in that body.

very happy with Lampard appointment. Wishing him a lot of successes with Chelsea, now as the manager. Please RA (and fans) give him time. He arrives at the moment of transfer ban. With high expectation (as always at Chelsea) as Sarri finished 3rd and won Europa. I think FL should be kept if Chelsea can finish in the top 4 this season or if we qualify for UCL. That’s it, no other expectation. Top 6 may still be acceptable, but if he finishes top 4: hope RA won’t fire him.

pity about Zola I think the Ambassador role would have really suited him and the club but good luck to him and also of course Frank and co. Its really exciting times despite transfer bans and what have you. My only wish is that Frank will not favour the older senior players some who imo should have been moved on despite the ban. Lets not forgot that all previous managers fell into that trap of favouring the senior players for whatever reasons.

Notnice: I kinda agree with what FL said. Youngsters must show that they deserve to play. He has a target too, FL. He cannot just play the youngsters like that. He has to combine the more experienced players with youngsters. To find the right balance to meet the objective set by the management. This is Chelsea. Result is important. If FL finishes outside top 6, pretty sure that he will be out at the end of this season.

Having said all those above, I am quite sure that FL will give opportunities to youngsters as he trusted Tomori and Mount and the other lad from Pool last season at Derby.
