last nights result didnt surprise me ,i almost expected to lose at boro. i was surprised at dm subs though. i think it showed lack of experience. theres going to be more set backs for sure, theres some tough teams in this league , leeds , brentford , villa, derby, just to name a few. if were in top six at xmas ill see that as success. we arent going to be a power house, our weakness is still defence and creative midfielders. personaly hegazi isnt up for this league, id have dawson in there, and ya we still need a right back . in midfield sam field isnt going to be the answer hes a def midfielder like livermore. we needed to buy a creative center mid. its what were lacking.our forwards look explosive but only if there getting the opportunities. against good def sides like boro we had next to nothing , only barnes and for some reason moore took him of. its a long season and there will be dissapointment along the way dont expect to get automatic promotion. i think we will be here for a couple of years, have patience, dont start calling for moores head. boing boing

We didn’t play well in the first half and like all the games so far the fault lies in the centre of midfield. Brunt isn’t up to it and it was a mistake to make him captain (harder to leave him out). The referee was poor. First half KB pulled Flint back in the area and Boro should have had a penalty. Second half KB was wrestled to the ground twice by Ayala both clear penalties and just to rub it in Ayala brought the ball down with his arm and the goal should have been disallowed! With VAR and assuming all penalties went in we’d have won 2-1! Pretty much all of the comments I’ve read question the subs (in all matches not just this one). Trouble is we didn’t have much on the bench apart from Bourke. We urgently need a creative midfielder.

A couple of things seem self evident from last night. Firstly we cannot play three at the back. It is not suited to any of them and at one point in the second half all three were all but holding hands as they went to head the same ball from a free kick and all missed it. The defence set up this way is an utter shambles and has been in every match bar QPR where it was not tested at all. The Boro goal was a joke but they fully deserved to win and should have done so more easily.
Secondly our season rests entirely on the form of Barnes and Phillips to score goals and make chances for JRod and Gayle. Nothing comes through from central midfield and nothing will as long as DM persists with Brunt and Livermore ( as of course he will). If Brunt has to be in the team play him at left back as Pulis did and use him for free kicks and corners whilst finding something more creative in the middle. It cant be that difficult?
I’m afraid that the only way DM will take us out of this division is down and we will pay dearly if he survives the season. A cheap solution and quite possibly a very expensive result. The substitutions are a joke. We were stamped on last night not by better footballers but a team which pressed us from start to finish to which we had no answers. We are mid table at best right now and it is difficult to perceive anything better?

Once all the transfer windows & loan windows have closed, we might have a better idea as to how to set up the team with the players who are definitely staying. Surprised that Barnes was taken off, we definitely look more dangerous when he’s on the pitch. If Gibbs stays, I can’t see how Brunt can possibly start. It’s early days, but 2 defeats already is a poor start. Pulis of course had his team set up to stop us a set pieces and it worked for him. PS we had more possession than a Pulis team, who would’ve guessed that !!!

We’re still learning. The QPR result was misleading and apart from that our form has been mediocre. The best footballer in the team seems to be Barnes
and he should have a free role as an attacking midfielder. And although Field is a defensive midfielder, surely he offers the team more energy and drive than ?Chris Brunt who is surely past it. And what has happened to Chadli? It was commented last week that it would be hard to see where he would fit into the team. I would say if he is fit and part of the squad for at least the next four months it would be hard to see where he WOULDN’T fit into the team. The next two games will be revealing. Stoke at home and Blues away should garner us at least four points and hopefully six. This could provide a barometer for our season – four or six points and we can think in terms of the play offs, three or less and it’s mid-table or possibly worse. We shall see.

Wholly agree about Field and Chadli Sarky but six points from the next two? I watched the Forest/Blues game last night played at a pace out of defence that we cannot match. There was hardly a square pass from either side in the second half as they both attacked relentlessly and although there were plenty of mistakes the defences looked no worse than ours. It seems to me that there is very little difference in pace or quality between the top half of the Championship and the bottom half of the Prem no matter what Sky would have us believe which is probably why so many promoted sides are staying up these days? The way we are now set up we shall piss away the parachute monies over the next two or three seasons and end up like all the others chasing the EPL rainbow for years. This year is the best chance we shall have and it has in my view been wasted already. If we now lose Dawson and Rodriguez in January it could be a lot worse than failing to make the play offs?

Well I’m afraid Mr Mannering I’m panicking and have been since DM appointment. Lovely bloke and club legend but manager of a club in such disarray and transition was a mistake from the start. I applaud the appointment of GJ the new coach and maybe this is seen by the owners as a calming and guiding figure for DM. We look lethargic and pedestrian on the ball and given the quality we have we just seem bereft of any ideas. Sorry but Chadli if fit should be starting along with the best centre back in league Dawson and of course Field should be in the middle too. People say he’s a defensive midfielder but I’ve seen more created by him in the little game time he’s had for the Albion than our midfield all put together , he’s more mobile than Brunt so we wouldn’t be overrun in there which seems to be the case in every game. QPR was freak and they were dire but it does show we have the attacking talent. Watched wolves against Man City and what a game they had, they believe in the system and football they play and gave City there toughest game for a long time and fully deserved there result, they are a pleasure to watch and as much as we hate them down the road they seem to finally have the blueprint for succes and entertainment, we are miles away from that and I still blame that clown TP for our demise, if we don’t get back this season which I really can’t see happening at present then guys be prepared for a long stint in this league. I love DM and his loyalty but he’s the wrong guy for the job and what’s more sickening is that there were options out there at the time , ie Dean Smith, he would have jumped at the chance with our squad and resources yet our owners chose the cheap option , well u reap what u sow.

Yes, Ronnie, the Black Country wheel has come full circle in one season. Three years ago we were streets ahead of Wolves who had plummeted into League 1. Blues were struggling in the Championship and Villa were in free fall down the Premiership towards relegation. We were cock of the West Midlands’s hoop and with the chance of establishing ourselves there. Then by a series of managerial mis-appointments Tony Pulis suddenly had the reins and within three years of marking time he had squeezed all vestiges of creativity out of the club and set us on the road to nowhere. We started last season with the same elements of sterility while at Molineux a revolution was taking place, a revolution that just over a year later has seen Wolves share the league spoils with Manchester City. Both teams as well as many more (Bournemouth, Watford, Liverpool, Leicester, Everton) show that creative football is not only entertaining but also successful by enabling the collective to play above the level of the eleven individuals) We on the other hand are showing signs of languishing among the also rans in the Championship by replacing Mr Sterile with Mr Inadequate (Pardew) and leaving DM to try and sort out the mess. Pulis and the senior management have a lot to answer for

just a thought ,look at wolves owners ,willing to spend money on proven players ,know if you want to stay up and get better you have to be prepared to pay. villa it seems are now doing that under there new management , what are we doing , one in , one out , no big buys as such, but if they owners dont know it ,you need not just good but proven leadership in the championship. we havent bought that ,and seems we are happy to keep majority of our team that were relegated. in the past we had megson who got us back up then matteo who got us promoted with a proven group of players. we dont really have that at the moment ,some past the sell by date , midfield again lacking creativity , players who are not comfortable like hegazi in this league. we should of discarded , bought players who know how to get out of this league. our owners tho by the look of it want to do it on the cheap, yet again. maybe the problem is the OWNERS not the manager. BOING BOING

Can’t argue with most of the sentiments expressed but Hegazi was our find of the season last year. He has not suddenly become a poor player but he needs a better quality partner in the centre of a back four to perform as he has done in the past. Dawson would fit the bill nicely but I have no doubt that we shall persist with a back three including the Swansea reject and continue to ship goals This decision has nothing to do with the owner beyond the fact that he appointed the head coach (or allowed it to happen) thereby demonstrating his utter lack of football nous and ambition for the club. It is DM picking this line up and making senseless substitutions – no one else.

well now my thoughts have come true when we sign a 35 year old from the mls on a free ,yes short term but is there nothing better out there, omg this is ridiculous we let our veterans go wetalk about the youngsters at the club and yet we go and sign mears a no body on a free and 35 at that. i know financialy were in a mess but come on we cant spend 6,7 million on a decent full back. we had the 100 million to clear our debts plus the parachute payment and we cant afford to buy a decent full back. i remember jenkins interview when he returned were 40million in the hole, if this is what we can expect ,were going to be in this league a long time. sad so sad were in this mess
