Reports are circulating that players were complaining of a lack of preparation for matches by SB and his coaching staff. Does not surprise me in the slightest as there hardly ever seemed to be a plan A and certainly no plan B! I’m hoping that Beale is given a couple of matches before appointing a new manager to see if he can make the step up. There are seven games before the World Cup so it might be worth giving him a go and taking a bit more time and thought over appointing a new boss.

I’m beginning to wonder if Gourlay is also a big part of the problem. Don’t be surprised if the next manager is another poor choice.

Another report says that WBAFC are taking their time over selection and that they want ‘an up and coming’ manager. Let’s hope that this is true and that ‘up and coming’ doesn’t mean ‘on the cheap’!

I’ve also heard reports of Bruce’s training – or rather the lack of it. Some of them said he was simply lazy and no attempt was made by him or his coaches to improve individual players. This was echoed by Newcastle supporters who said several players from the Bruce regime were unrecognizable since they’ve come under Howe’s influence. The two biggest disappointments in Albion’s first team squad are the poor contributions made by Swift and Yakuslu. Swift came highly commended – a real catch, and Yakuslu was onem of the few stars of the Allardyce regime. But now both are slow, hesitant and unsure of their roles.
I think it would be a good idea to leave Beale in charge until after the World Cup, that is unless we carry on the winless run. Somehow I don’t think we will. But I don’t think we can affordin any way another managerial flop.
